Chapter 2769 A Far Seer
Chapter 2769 A Far Seer
Her body felt sluggish, her energy a tangled mess.
"You're awake," came a voice.
Her head snapped toward the door, where Lin Mu stood, having just entered.
"You're here too?" she mumbled, dazed. A disturbing thought took root in her mind. "Am I still in an illusion?"
Lin Mu frowned. "Illusion? What illusion?" he asked, clearly confused.
But Lady Yeon had no time for his confusion.
Her mind was spiraling.
"You…" her voice wavered. "What are you?"
Lin Mu blinked. "What?"
"How can your fate change?" she demanded, her expression a mix of disbelief and dread. "That shouldn't be possible."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Lady Yeon shook her head, gripping the sheets as if they were the only things anchoring her to reality. "I saw it…" she whispered.
"What?" Lin Mu asked, his wariness increasing.
Her voice dropped to a hush, filled with something between awe and fear. "Who… who are you really?"
Lin Mu exhaled, his tone steady yet unreadable.
"I am Lin Mu." He simply stated.
Lady Yeon, however, kept on looking at him with a stunned expression.
Her eyes rippled for a moment before becoming still.
"No, this can't be…" she murmured before a wave of aura spread from her.
HUALA
The aura was so strong that even Lin Mu was taken aback.
"This… She's… She's a Transcendent?!" Lin Mu finally felt her true power.
He was already alert, quickly entering a defensive stance. He activated his spatial skills, preparing to disappear as soon as the woman acted. The only reason he hadn't done so yet was because he didn't sense a true threat from her.
His battle-honed instincts told him this.
Plus, he had seen the woman be cordial with him every time, so it didn't make sense that she would suddenly turn hostile.
Instead, what he felt was a strange energy wash over him. It was unlike anything he had ever felt before, and he couldn't understand what it was.
But there was one being who knew exactly what it was.
"Divination!?" Xukong awoke!
"What? She's a diviner?" Lin Mu was surprised.
"Not just any diviner, she's a Far Seer!" Xukong said, his voice filled with shock.
"A real Far Seer?" Lin Mu had heard about them from Xukong long ago.
He had mentioned them when Lin Mu was asking about divination and other similar techniques. While many experts could use divination to some extent, true Divination was not something that could be done by just anyone.
It required extreme skill and power, as well as a certain luck in being born with the innate constitution for it.
Those who were deemed Far Seers had such unique constitutions that allowed them to perform this rare form of divination.
"Her eyes…" Xukong spoke again. "I've seen such eyes before." He revealed. "They're the Rippling Eyes Of Foresight."
"What are those, Senior?" Lin Mu asked, his curiosity growing.
"It's a rare type of constitution that hasn't appeared more than ten times since I've existed. It's perhaps one of the strongest constitutions that can allow one to become a Far Seer." Xukong answered. "But if she's doing this to you, she might be dooming herself." He added.
"Is that what she was talking about? My fates?" Lin Mu wondered aloud.
"She might have glimpsed at it. But it was probably not a full divination—just a mere glance at a vague possibility." Xukong replied.
"Can you explain further, Senior?" Lin Mu asked, watching the woman stand still, her eyes continuing to ripple.
"While Far Seers can see the fates of others, it isn't exact. After all, there are far too many possible events in the future. What they actually see is an amalgamation of these possibilities. It isn't necessarily accurate." Xukong explained. "But what she's doing right now is extremely risky." He added gravely.
"But she already did it twice, from what she said." Lin Mu replied.
"That was fine since she only looked at the surface level. But if she tries to go deeper, she'll see those connected to you." Xukong said, his tone turning serious.
Lin Mu's eyes widened as he finally understood.
"You mean… you." Lin Mu uttered softly.
"She'll die if she tries to look at your fate that is connected with me." Xukong answered. "She does not have the power needed to bear that karma." He added.
"Should I stop her?" Lin Mu asked, torn with uncertainty.
"Do it. Before she risks it all." Xukong urged. "The backlash from it might be strong enough to explode her. And if someone with her cultivation dies here, she'll take out everything within several kilometers." He warned.
Hearing that, Lin Mu grew alarmed, his nerves tensing and his eyes narrowing.
Now, it wasn't just a threat to Lady Yeon, but everyone in the area, including Lin Mu.
Even if he tried to escape, he was sure he wouldn't be able to get far enough to avoid getting caught in the fallout. Daoist Chu, Meng Bai, and Monk Hushu were nearby too. The Imperial Ocean Quay was still quite close, and so was the Imperial Palace.
Knowing this, Lin Mu threw all caution to the wind.
'I've never done this before… but it has to work.' He thought to himself as he made his move.
SHUA
Lin Mu moved swiftly, placing his hand on Lady Yeon's head. He had expected some resistance, but the woman never moved.
"Sharpen thy will as a blade, slay your mortal bindings and become unyielding in the face of worldly tribulations: Behold the Severing Heart Sutra!" Lin Mu chanted, directly connecting with Lady Yeon's body using his hands and immortal sense.
HUALA
A profoundly sharp aura was released from Lin Mu's body and transferred into the woman's. But there it met resistance, as Lin Mu's immortal sense was blocked.
'Not so easily!' Lin Mu unlashed his Sword Intent, letting it reinforce his immortal sense and directly tear into the woman's innate defenses.
While this was happening though, Lady Yeon was having a different experience.
