Chapter 1944: Azurea Rejecting Marriage Proposal?
Chapter 1944: Azurea Rejecting Marriage Proposal?
Azurea snorted at Eren's words, but she couldn't deny the truth behind them.
Though she remained silent, her lack of response spoke volumes to the sea monster.
Eren had already given the monster a version of events in which his actions were logical and necessary.
This cross-examination wasn't just about shutting Azurea down—it was about ensuring the sea monster placed his unwavering trust in Eren.
And judging by the look in the monster's eyes, Eren had succeeded on both fronts.
"See? You call me a liar, yet you admit that everything I've told my brother so far is the truth. You're contradicting yourself. How am I supposed to deal with you when you create unnecessary trouble for everyone around you?" Eren asked, sighing dramatically.
"It's… it's not what you said that's a lie. It's how you said it," Azurea tried to defend herself, but her argument only made Eren chuckle.
"Well, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. But I'm an honest man when I need to be," Eren said before turning to face the sea monster. "Now that everything is settled, brother, are you ready?"
The sea monster nodded. "I am." But then his gaze shifted toward Azurea and Marina. His expression darkened as he turned back to Eren.
"Brother, before we deal with my problem of overflowing vitality, why not settle our scores with these mean dragons? I… I feel angry just looking at them," he said in the same childish manner, releasing a menacing aura once again.
Eren shook his head and stopped the sea monster from taking action against the twin dragonesses.
"Big brother, I had to promise to marry Marina to ensure your liberation. But she told me that she and her sister were inseparable. So I had to promise to marry them both.
Haah! It's a sacrifice I chose on my own for your sake. I can't back out of my commitment now," Eren said, dramatically sighing again.
"Oh? Is… is that so? I see. I… I understand," the sea monster responded casually.
One had to admit that Eren had completely won him over, making the creature trust him without question.
The pseudo SS-Rank sea monster easily let go of his grudges against Marina and Azurea, considering it inappropriate to seek vengeance on his own future sisters-in-law. A childish mind, despite its many disadvantages, was surprisingly malleable.
Of course, the sea monster could take things lightly because of his bond with Eren. However, Azurea could not.
She was utterly stunned by Eren's words, unable to believe what she had just heard. Shocked to the core by what his statement implied, she turned to her sister for confirmation.
Marina simply nodded silently before looking away, as if something in the distant depths of the sea had suddenly become the most interesting thing in the world.
Azurea's anger flared once again.
"You… YOU AGREED TO HIS PROPOSAL?" she shouted at her sister, her voice filled with disbelief, as if she couldn't fathom that Marina had sold both of them out to a complete stranger. What he had done to her innocent sister?
Because she was in her true dragon form and nearly screamed, Azurea's voice created another undercurrent in the depths of the sea.
At that moment, Eren received another series of prompts, all conveying the same message.
[Azurea holds feelings of anger toward you. You have earned 100 Origin Force Points.]
'Damn. This young dragoness is like a divine cow with big blessed udders,' Eren thought, looking at Azurea with amusement. 'She keeps giving me Origin Force Points—at such exaggerated rates, too.'
Azurea couldn't even be bothered to point out the fact that Eren had once again twisted the truth to fit his own narrative. He had painted a picture where the twin dragons had asked for his hand in marriage when, in reality, it was clearly he who had set his sights on them.
She quickly discerned that Eren's proposal had nothing to do with love-at-first-sight-like romance. It was simply a ploy to strengthen his influence over the seas of Labh Salem through marriage pacts.
However, Azurea chose to ignore these details, realizing that she was overly agitated—something that wouldn't help the situation. Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself, closed her eyes, and then shifted back into her humanoid form. Standing beside her sister, she fixed Eren with a cold glare before speaking in a threatening tone.
"Listen here, you charlatan. Don't even think about marrying the two of us. My sister hasn't told you anything about us, so let me make this clear in a way you'll understand. If you so much as set your filthy eyes on us, you'll die without a burial ground or cremation."
With those words, Azurea unleashed her draconic aura, an oppressive force strong enough to subdue any ordinary A-Rank entity or even exert pressure on Sages.
However, both Eren and the sea monster remained unaffected. The sea monster merely frowned at Azurea's actions but, out of respect for Eren, chose to remain silent.
'Hm? I was kinda expecting something like this. But not at this level.'
Eren, on the other hand, was surprised. He had expected Azurea to resist his plan, but he hadn't anticipated her opposition to be this intense—almost as if her very life depended on rejecting the idea.
His gaze shifted to Marina, but she avoided his eyes. At that moment, Eren understood—she hadn't been entirely honest with him.
Or rather, she had deliberately withheld certain truths that might have dissuaded him from pursuing marriage with the dragon sisters.
"Miss Azurea, calm down," Eren said slowly, a light smile on his face. Of course, his words only made Azurea angrier.
However, the butcher didn't take it to heart. He knew that, across the boundless cosmos, no woman had ever truly calmed down when a man told her to. It was an eternal truth he had come to accept long ago after dealing with numerous female companions and their various moods with practiced ease.
"Miss Azurea. Um… No, wait—" Eren paused as if he had misspoken. Instead of stepping back to accommodate Azurea's mood, he decided to double down.
"My darling Azurea, is there anything you wanna talk about before marriage?"
