Qin Muxiao glared angrily at Tan Mo and smirked. “This is something between family members. Outsiders should get lost!”
“Oh, but Mo Mo is not an outsider to me. She’s like my real sister,” Qin Muye said, mocking her cousin. To herself she was thinking, at least she’s more like my family than you are.
“Are you kidding me? She’s like your sister? She’s not worth that title! Did any of the Qin family members approve of that?” Qin Muxiao scolded Qin Muye. If Tan Mo was Qin Muye’s sister, then she would have to accept Tan Mo, who she viewed as inferior, as her cousin as well. There was no way she was going to let that happen.
“So, what do you want to say?” Qin Muye asked, as she was starting to get annoyed. “Come on, speak up! Either you tell me right here, right now, or get the h*ll out of my sight. Why do I even have to get annoyed at my own birthday party?”
Qin Muxiao’s face turned red from anger right away. She noticed that her cousin wasn’t showing her any love or respect anymore.
“I…” With her face completely red, Qin Muxiao mustered all her strength and uttered, “I’m here to make up with you…”
“What?” Qin Muye knew what kind of a person Qin Muxiao was.
The only way that Qin Muxiao would ever want to call a truce with Qin Muye was when she had done something really bad. Either that or the sky was about to collapse.
No matter what happened, Qin Muxiao would never take responsibility for what she had done and would always push it onto another person.
It would even be more impossible for her to apologize.
There was no way she would ever back down from being at the top of the food chain, of being the apex. Nothing nice would ever come out of her mouth.
Qin Muye was even relieved that Qin Zhenglu was not the head of the family, or else Qin Muxiao would have been even worse than she already was.
For a person like that to come and propose a truce between them, it was a huge surprise that Qin Muye had never even imagined could happen.
Perhaps it was because Qin Muxiao was so used to being an arrogant pr*ck that even when she proposed a truce, she didn’t do it in a nice manner.
Qin Muye was completely shocked to hear those words coming out of her cousin’s mouth.
“What happened to you?” Qin Muye asked, but didn’t give Qin Muxiao a chance to explain. “No, if you really had had a change of heart, you wouldn’t have that attitude anymore. Hmm…could it be that you want something from me?” Qin Muye squinted her eyes, looking perplexed.
She couldn’t find any other reason for her cousin to propose a truce.
If Qin Muxiao had wanted to stop the fighting between them, she could’ve done it a long time ago. There was no reason for her to do so on Qin Muye’s 18th birthday.
That was why Qin Muye believed that Qin Muxiao had something up her sleeve.
“Of course not,” Qin Muxiao exclaimed. “Can you not think bad of me all the time. We’re still cousins, aren’t we? Even if we fight all the time, we are still family, not enemies.”
The more Qin Muxiao tried to explain, the more Qin Muye believed that she had some ulterior motive.
“I…” Qin Muxiao paused for a second. “I have a present for you. The one you’ll get during the party is from my whole family, that’s why I got you a personal present.”
Qin Muye raised an eyebrow. She recalled that Qin Muxiao had arrived at the resort empty-handed.
“And where’s the present?” Qin Muye asked.
“It’s in the villa that my sister and I are staying at,” Qin Muxiao said. “Let’s go get it.”
“This is my first time hearing that I’ll have to get my own present on my own birthday.” Qin Muye smiled. “Why aren’t you bringing it here? What’s the point if I have to go get it myself? It’ll look like I threatened you to give me a present. If that’s the case, then I don’t want the present.”
1
Being on the opposing side of Qin Muxiao for more than ten years, Qin Muye had long gone past the point where she had to show Qin Muxiao any respect.
Whenever they met in the past, Qin Muxiao would belittle Qin Muye as much as she could.
That was why Qin Muye never showed any politeness toward her cousin either.
If Qin Muxiao was going to give Qin Muye a present, the latter couldn’t see a reason why she didn’t bring it with her.
“You…” Qin Muxiao wanted to argue but held herself back. “Why are you like this? Can’t we have a normal conversation like a normal family would? Do we have to fight every time we meet? I want you to come with me because the present was too big for my sister and me to move it. If I could have brought it here myself, I would’ve done so. I still have some decency you know.”
Qin Muxiao paused and continued, “I’m serious at calling a truce between us. I was young and immature in the past. Isn’t it normal for kids to fight? We are adults now. If we keep fighting like we used to, the others will laugh at us. It’s fine when we were still young, but we can’t be like that now. I now know the responsibility a Qin should hold.
Qin Muxiao then slowly raised her head to look at her cousin. “I know you don’t like me, and I don’t like you either. But now that we are adults, we still have to act friendly in front of outsiders. This is the least that we should do. That’s why I’m taking this chance to call a truce with you. Even though we aren’t close as cousins, at the very least, we won’t get in each other’s ways from now on. As long as nothing bad happens between us, then we should be fine.”
Even though Qin Muxiao seemed like she was forcing a smile on her face when she said that, it did give off a feeling of sincerity.
It would’ve been suspicious if Qin Muxiao’s attitude had completely changed.
Qin Muye frowned as she studied her cousin. What the latter had said made sense. And with Qin Muxiao’s attitude, it only convinced her even more.
“Fine…” Qin Muye nodded as if she trusted Qin Muxiao.
Qin Muxiao grinned to herself, thinking that her plan had worked. However, her cousin suddenly said, “I understand what you mean, and I agree with you. But, keep your present. It has been a tiring day, and I really need my rest now. If you’re serious about not getting in each other’s way, then I’ll do it.”

Qin Muxiao was completely stunned by the response.
“It took us a lot of effort to prepare the gift. Are you going to let all that go to waste?” Qin Muxiao frowned. “I even planned to use this chance to show other people that we’ve reconciled.”
Qin Muye frowned. It’s not like she didn’t trust Qin Muxiao after all the latter had said, but the more Qin Muxiao tried to persuade her, the more suspicious it seemed.
Seeing how hesitant Qin Muye was, Qin Muxiao said, “Didn’t you just agree that we have to show other people that we have reconciled. Aren’t you going to take a look at the present?”
“Well…” Tan Mo suddenly opened her mouth, “….it’s not like we can’t go, but we have to call Uncle Mufeng to go with us as well.”
