Chapter 364 - The Demons
Chapter 364: The Demons
Everyone was left completely stunned.
While they had no idea who that black-robed young man was, the fact that he was bold enough to insult the Special Task Force and gatecrash the agency’s headquarters in such a manner spoke volumes of the unparalleled level of courage that he possessed.
“You people truly are no match for me. Gosh, you humans are sloppy,” the young man smirked coldly. “Despite supposedly being the most powerful agency in Huaxia, this is the all the Special Task Force, has got?”
That black-robed young man instantly burst with something resembling pulses of shockwaves that shattered all of the building’s reinforced glass, causing the entire building to crack all over the place.
‘You humans?’ That was the thought that came to the minds of many.
Then again, the sight of a figure shooting up to the air right away with a shout left no time for them to rest.
A flash of sword aura was seen tearing through the sky, heading straight for the young man standing in midair.
The one who attacked was none other than Ming Yueyao. The sword aura attack that she used dazzled like the scorching sun.
Hmph.
That black-robed young man still did not seem to pay her any heed. His hand instantly turned into something resembling the paw of a beast completely covered in thick fur.
It took him a single clap to crush that blast of sword aura on the spot.
The incoming attack did not manage to even scratch him at all.
Shoop!
That young man immediately disappeared from his spot.
The Dragon realized something was off right away. “Dammit! Yueyao, back off!”
However, the warning came too late. The young man instantly appeared right in front of her and clenched that thick, furry paw of his into a fist before punching her hard.
Boom!
Ming Yueyao was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing hard onto the ground below. A huge crater in the Special Task Force’s plaza was left in its wake.
Pfftt!
Blood spewed from her mouth right there and then as she felt several ribs in her chest broken. Despite being an Airborne Realm cultivator, she was still almost killed by that punch.
“Fire!”
The Dragon was furious. All the runic cannons hidden all over the agency’s vicinity fired one after another, forming a tight net of shells heading towards that young man.
The young man simply laughed away as he conjured a transparent barrier around him.
Boooooooomm!
Consecutive explosions were heard almost immediately.
While the young man looked somewhat ragged and ruffled after the dust settled, it also became clear that the bombardment did not manage to cause him any real harm.
“Hahahahaha. Well, I’d call it a day for now. Also, I’m quite interested in the dead body of this angel, so I’ll be taking it with me. Hopefully, you people will be able to put up a better fight in the future.”
That young man then laughed out loud again before flying away like a shooting star moments later.
Everything as far as the eye could see was now in shambles. The Dragon called for medical assistance for Ming Yueyao while feeding her pills for healing.
His face was ashen, being surprised that someone had dared to just step into his base and act as if they owned the place.
The bad news didn’t even stop there. Even the runic cannons, which served as their last resort, failed to even do anything to the intruder. If the news of what just happened were to spread, it would no doubt become a tremendous insult to the Special Task Force.
There was no way the agency could maintain its fearsome reputation from then on out.
The reason why he sat on his hands the entire time until the very end was due to him knowing that he was the agency’s true last line of defense.
With there being so many formidable fighters working for the Special Task Force, there were few matters that he actually needed to attend to personally.
If even he ended up failing to take on that young man, that would have truly spelled doom for the agency’s last layer of defense.
All the specialists, scientists, key political personnel, and expert cultivators from various countries were arranged to recuperate somewhere else. After all, there was little that they could do until the angel’s dead body was retrieved after being taken away.
Furthermore, having had something of such grave consequence taking place in the Special Task Force meant that the Dragon needed to report and discuss it with his superiors.
The Dragon stood on top of the rubble and looked at the utterly destroyed base of the Special Task Force.
“He’s not human, which means he must be at the Divine Treasure Realm.”
Based on what that young man said earlier, those were the two conclusions that he came to.
What that black-robed young man said made it very clear to the Dragon that the former was not human. Had that not been the case, he would not have said something like ‘you humans’.
Furthermore, his furry paw was also an indicator that he was not human.
He had vague speculations about the nature of that mysterious being. There were other types of creatures who were not human yet were still capable of cultivation as well. In this case, it was the demons.
Common people hardly knew much about the demons, and what little they knew about such beings referred to those with intellectual capacity.
While monsters looked ferocious and terrifying, they nonetheless had a hard time resisting sieges from armies. Even formidable fighters among the civilians had begun to take out those monsters as well.
However, among the monsters were also a subspecies that possessed intellectual capacity that rivaled, or even surpassed, that of humans. Those subspecies beings were known as demons.
According to what the Dragon knew, there was also one such demon in Yunxuan Villa known simply as ‘the Rabbit’.
Not only was the rabbit’s intellectual capacity on par with that of normal humans, but they also possessed frightening fighting prowess.
The being had displayed an astonishing level of power back when the Yunxuan Villa was assaulted some time ago.
However, the demons usually kept themselves to the mountains and hardly appeared in places where there were a lot of people.
The humans also had no way of organizing armed assaults at the demons before the latter were out to wreak havoc on a massive scale.
The White Ape King that shocked the world years ago was one such being.
The Dragon even knew that Huaxia was not the only nation with such beings among them, as demons were lurking about in every other nation out there.
In the US, it was said that a lizard king that lurked about in the volcanic regions seemed to be able to transform into something resembling the dragons told in western myths. The US government dispatch forces to take out said lizard king. Having failed at every attempt, however, they were forced to acknowledge the being’s existence.
Other than that, there was also an extremely terrifying eagle residing in the Alps that people would catch glimpses of hunting in the mountains. The eagle was so fearsome that it was said to have taken down a fifth-generation fighter jet before.
Conventional fighter aircraft were utterly useless in taking out that eagle.
Although they were extremely powerful, there were simply too few demons. This contrasted greatly with the situation of humans, who were flourishing in massive numbers all across the world.
As such, the world was still one that was dominated by humans.
Based on the current circumstances, however, it seemed that those powerful demons were on the move as well.
That black-robed young man sported powers that were nothing short of extremely terrifying, despite still paling in comparison to the battle fought between Lu Xuan and the Roman Curia.
That young man was probably already at the level of the Divine Treasure Realm.
That crone that assaulted the base before had been chased away by the bombardment before, yet that young man did not even bat an eye at the runic cannons. There was only one possible explanation for that; the young man was at the Divine Treasure Realm, which was 10 times more terrifying than those at Airborne Realm.
The looks of things at the moment suggested that the world would only get messier from then on out. Formidable beings with unreal powers grew by the dozens. Other than the legendary angel, Pope Innocent, and Lu Xuan, there were then also others on par with them making an appearance.
