Chapter 352 - The Day the Angels Advent
Chapter 352: The Day the Angels Advent
The Roman Curia making such declarations of war was something no one anticipated.
Despite its size, the organization had long been considered an obscure organization by the entire world
In an era where secular governments had power over everyone else, the Roman Curia would have been doomed if it were to get too involved.
However, the Roman Curia seemed to have now regained all that influence and might it commanded ages ago as the world’s spirit qi continued to be restored.
There was simply no doubt about Lu Xuan’s current status; even the US government had to be cautious of offending him further.
The US government, a democratic organization that claimed to be most respectful of the people’s wishes, chose to stay quiet in response to the raging will of its citizens.
There were even cases of authorities going out to stamp out protests of the people.
The families of troops whom Lu Xuan killed allied and went on to protest in the streets, intending to press the US government into deploying troops to attack Lu Xuan.
However, such attempts resulted in the authorities stamping them out, much to everyone’s shock.
It was not that the US government had never done anything to stamp out protests from the people. It was just that they had already done so a very long time ago, back when the internet was nowhere near as prevalent as it currently was.
Many continued to believe that the US served as the beacon of freedom and democracy, so what happened at the moment shocked all those people. While they still had a lot to say, the power of their voices was no longer as forceful and righteous.
Currently, Lu Xuan was all that the world was talking about; the guy was known throughout the entire planet.
His status was even more so among the cultivators.
There had been a lot of shocking news breaking out as of late. The Covenant of Darkness was severely crippled; not only were all three elders of the vampires taken out of the picture, but the vampires themselves had also been reduced to vermin by everyone.
The dark spellcasters and the werewolves also took severe amounts of damage, while others like the Wailing Witch had also perished.
It could be said that monsters that had once been able to stand against the Roman Curia have suffered a very heavy blow as of late.
That was why it took only words from Lu Xuan to mobilize the entire Maoshan Sect, the members of which were eager to answer to him.
With even the likes of the Covenant of Darkness being almost taken out entirely, there was no doubt that the same could have happened to the Maoshan Sect.
Many saw that there were definitely reasons why the Roman Curia chose to emerge under such circumstances.
In the eyes of many, the Roman Curia was trying to declare war against Lu Xuan to unite the people among the western world of cultivators.
It was their attempt to take back their position as leader of the western cultivators.
The current leaders of cultivators were different from how it had once been. In the past, such leaders were little more than figureheads serving utterly no actual function and having no actual authority.
However, with cultivators now becoming increasingly powerful and influential, becoming the leader and the core of all cultivators in the west would yield them great benefits.
Lu Xuan was made the stepping stone to reach such goals.
Lu Xuan smirked as he said, “You wanna make a stepping stone out of me, huh? Let’s see if you have what it takes to do that.”
Something else happened right after the day the Roman Curia made such declarations of war, with the world still reeling from the declaration’s effects.
Surprisingly, the Roman Curia invited fighters and key political figures to the Vatican to bear witness to the advent of angels in heaven to the mortal realm and cleanse the world of evil.
The world was thrown into further chaos.
Angels?
Everyone initially reacted with utter disbelief. Angels were creatures that seemed to have only existed in myths and legends, just like the Devil that the Roman Curia made Lu Xuan out to be.
However, the use of the term was simply used to describe Lu Xuan as someone who was out to do evil, instead of saying that he truly was a demonic creature.
There was no need to do so if they were planning to create some kind of mystical phenomenon, as the organization would have only been reduced to a laughing stock by all in the world.
There was no way that those of the Roman Curia would make such a joke unless they had actually gone insane.
As soon as the news was released, all capable cultivators throughout the world seemed eager to take action.
There was little need to elaborate on the devotees from all over the world, which was of astronomical proportions that were calculated in billions.
While the Christians might have been of different sects and factions, that was ultimately a separation caused by secular power struggles. When it came to the nature of their faith, however, it was fundamentally identical.
Countless people were buying tickets and getting access to all manner of ways to reach the Vatican.
Tickets of all flights leading there were picked clean in a very short time. Be it flight, train, or even bus tickets, there was simply no manner of transportation leading towards the Vatican that was not taken up already.
There were even people working in television stations from all over the world, private or government, and even private live-streamers rushing towards the Vatican; they were all intending to broadcast the advent of angels to the rest of the world as soon as possible.
The Vatican had also become the current focus of the world.
Meanwhile, Lu Xuan’s attitude had also drawn the attention of countless across the world at that moment.
If one were to connect the dots with the Roman Curia’s earlier declaration of war against Lu Xuan, one would definitely be able to tell that the Vatican most probably derived their extreme confidence in being able to get rid of Lu Xuan from the advent of the legendary angels.
After all, those legendary angels would stand a good chance of killing Lu Xuan if they were to descend to the mortal realm.
Lu Xuan was still just a human, whereas angels were creatures of myths and legends.
Other than the believers, there were also several materialists all across the world.
Many were interested in finding out just what kind of beings those angels actually were. The topic caught the attention of several people on the internet.
“I wonder what would the angels actually be like if they were to actually exist…”
“I think that they might be some beings from other dimensions. The places we call hell or heaven or whatever are just places of dimensions different from ours.”
“I guess we could consider them some kind of supreme creatures. There are just too much about the universe that we still don’t know about.”
“I’d say they might be beings of energy!”
“If there were to really be angels, that guy we call God might actually exist, and I wonder just what kind of a being is God.”
All manner of discussions flooded the internet as of late.
Everyone was waiting for the angels to advent. It had become some event that cultivators all across the world looked forward to.
The day where the Roman Curia announced the angels’ advent came three days later.
The Vatican saw crowds in literally every street.
Reporters from all over the world were broadcasting the grand event live.
Many who had once been to the Vatican only realized from the live broadcast that the place was no longer the one they used to know.
The place was glittering everywhere. The radiance remained even in the middle of the night, making it look like some city that never slept.
The Vatican had even expanded on its own. The Italian government dared not even look into it, fearing that they might end up offending the Vatican as they currently were.
One would feel as if they were looking at a place where true gods dwell if one were to look from afar.
The ancient city that had been around for more than a millennium had now shown its true self.
A plane with the Huaxian flag painted on it flew into Italy. The representatives of the Huaxian government entered the Vatican several hours later; they consisted of the Dragon, Ming Yueyao, and some others.
They were soon received by the officials of the Roman Curia and escorted into an ancient palace.
“Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need anything,” A man dressed in clergy attire said to them.
“Will do. We’ll let you know if we do need anything,” the Dragon nodded and replied.
“The advent of angels will begin in three hours. If you have no other matters to attend to, please proceed to St. Peter’s Basilica before then. That will be where the event will take place.”
