On a road in the villa under the moonlight.
Lu Xuan and Lin Miaoyi walked side by side. The moonlight shone on both of them, which made them look like a match made in heaven.
“Didn’t expect you to be that legendary Mr. Lu,” Lin Miaoyi said. Her voice sounded crisp and pleasant.
“There’re lots of things that you can’t imagine going on out there,” Lu Xuan grinned and said.
While Lin Miaoyi was one of the reasons why his family died back in his past life, Lu Xuan never resented her. It was never intentional on her part, and she did help him a lot later in his past life.
Lu Xuan felt rather sentimental recalling his past, very eventful life. While he had indeed made a lot of friends throughout the world, he had also made a lot of enemies.
He was unable to even remember just many powerful enemies he had killed personally. But then again, the path of a Celestial Lord had always been an almighty yet lonely one. It was a path that was destined to be bloody, as only by doing so would it be possible for him to emerge on top of all other powerful ones.
It was ridiculous to think that everyone could get along and decide who was to become the Celestial Lord in a peaceful manner, after all.
Lin Miaoyi was able to sense the kindness that he showed her was not one stemming from admiration like those of her pursuers. It was the kind that felt surreal; it was as if they were old friends.
She did not know why she felt that way, but that was what she felt, and as such, she was able to relax.
“Things are unpredictable, indeed.” Lin Miaoyi nodded in agreement. If anyone were to tell him that Lu Xuan was that renowned Mr. Lu, she definitely would not have believed it.
While many had heard of things about that Mr. Lu, there were actually few who had truly seen him in the flesh.
Many had the impression of him doing things in a high-profile manner, yet it was totally the opposite when it came to his personal daily life. Many were still at the stage of having heard of him but had never met him.
Lin Miaoyi recalled how her mother introduced him to her back then, and her mother actually commented that he was but a kid from a very ordinary family. She found it rather funny thinking about it now.
He had agreed to attend the matchmaking meet-up because she was bored, and she had never expected that the man that she had thought of as just a common folk was actually a godlike dragon in human form.
That was made her feel the most surreal was that very feeling of her perception having been turned upside down.
“So, you were the one who killed Luo Kun, then?”
Lin Miaoyi paused and hesitated for a bit, but still inquired eventually, even though she long knew the answer deep down.
“That’s right.”
Lu Xuan nodded.
Lin Miaoyi took a deep breath and recalled the time of Luo Kun’s death. At the same time, she felt shocked at just how swiftly Lu Xuan made his move.
That young man who wore a faint smile before her definitely was not as harmless as his appearance suggested.
He would probably do away with just about anyone that he saw as a threat.
She recalled how the Luo Clan seemed to have retreated from the province almost entirely as of late, and then the deaths of that man from the clan. She finally realized why the Luo Clan had to do what they just did without clashing with Lu Xuan head-on.
There was no way she would have believed that a giant like the Luo Clan would have had to go out of their way to avoid just one man if she had not seen it herself.
The losses they suffered were definitely big enough to make them evade him as they did.
While both the Lin Clan and the Luo Clan served under the Taichu Group, and both clans worked on a lot of occasions, that did not mean that both clans were close. Those two clans were actually rivals in many ways.
However, she did not think the Luo Clan’s evasive policy was taken because they were weak. If there were anyone who laughed at them for backing out of the province before, all of them had probably shut up by now.
Everyone’s impression of Lu Xuan changed altogether when he went out to crush the Soul-snatcher Sect on a whim. That was a show of monstrous prowess, after all.
Powers capable of wiping out a cultivation sect or clan single-handedly was a terrifying feat.
Many shuddered just at the thought of it.
The Luo Clan was but a branch of the Taichu Group. It was totally normal for them to choose to evade Lu Xuan, who went out to do as he pleased, and no one was able to stop him.
“Don’t ever speak of this to anyone from here on out. Don’t admit to it, even if the Luo Clan adamantly claims that you’re his killer,” Lin Miaoyi stopped and said to Lu Xuan with a serious tone. “If you refuse to admit it, we of the other clans can pretend as if nothing happened, taking it all to be between you and the Luo Clan. But if you admit it, I’m afraid the group won’t just let it slide, even if just out of consideration of the group’s interests.
“The Taichu Group is monstrous. What you see on the surface is but the tip of an iceberg. You might be a Deity now, but you’ll still be in grave danger.”
Lin Miaoyi felt some bit of regret as soon as she finished. What she did was tantamount to leaking the group’s secrets to an outsider, although she was the one who started it all.
If it had not been for her agreeing to meet Lu Xuan for matchmaking reasons, Luo Kun would not have needed to make his move and would not have ended up killed by Lu Xuan.
But, she was unable to just look away.
She knew that Deities were very, very powerful, so much so that they were at the very limit tolerated by the world itself; however, the Taichu Group had access to many secret, forbidden means.
Such means were so fearsome that not even the likes of Deities would be guaranteed to be able to resist.
As such, she did not wish to see Lu Xuan go on to declare war on the entire group out of glee. She did not want to see such a grim future become a reality.
“I know.” Lu Xuan nodded. He probably knew of just fearsome the Taichu Group was more than many in the group itself.
It was due precisely to this that Lu Xuan did not do anything rash against the group, despite having reached Deity Level.
When it came to personal prowess, he was confident enough to say that there was hardly anyone capable of taking him on at the moment. However, some of the Taichu Group’s forbidden methods were passed down from the Taichu Path.
The Taichu Path was not a force that was pulverized until they were within an inch of their last breath, like the Soul-snatcher Sect; they were truly at the top.
“But then again, I won’t be scared, even if you people of the Taichu Path come looking for trouble with me. You’re not the only ones with cards and tricks up their sleeves, after all.”
Lu Xuan grinned and said, “But, nonetheless, thank you for the reminder.”
“I do hope that we won’t become enemies.” Lin Miaoyi’s beautiful eyes sparkled in the dark of night, and there was some doubt seen in her eyes.
“We won’t.” Lu Xuan blurted out this single line plainly.
“Even if there does come such a day, I’ll make sure to go easy on you.”
Lin Miaoyi did not know how to react. She thought that Lu Xuan was too sure of himself, so much so that he paid no heed to what the Taichu Group was actually capable of.
She simply felt that Lu Xuan had yet to learn just how truly terrifying the Taichu Group was.
“We’ll just leave the topic of the Taichu Group at that. The Song Clan won’t just let what you did slide. Song Shijie is not Luo Kun; he really is from the direct line of the Holy Dragon Corporation. I’m afraid Song Lingfeng is really gonna come for you after what you did to Song Shijie,” Lin Miaoyi warned after thinking about it for a bit.
“Let him come then. I’ll kill him yet another time,” Lu Xuan quipped plainly.
While Lin Miaoyi did not know what he meant, when he said that he was going to kill Song Lingfeng again, she was able to tell how confident Lu Xuan was.
