Chapter 578: Fallen for the Wrong Person
Chapter 578: Chapter 578: Fallen for the Wrong Person
The Morgan family had no servants, and since Yvonne Morgan refused to leave, Zoe Morgan had to call for food delivery.
"Yvonne, time for lunch." Zoe Morgan set out the food, then went upstairs and knocked on her door.
The next second, her answer was a hysterical scream. "Go—go away!"
"Yvonne," Zoe Morgan said, her heart aching. "Don’t be so upset. You’re so exceptional, you’re sure to find someone even better than Rhys."
Earlier that morning, Mrs. Rhodes had called Yvonne Morgan, telling her that she was not to continue seeing Rhys and that her invitation to the birthday banquet was rescinded.
Mrs. Rhodes had originally intended for Yvonne Morgan and Rhys to get engaged at the end of the year.
After pressing for answers, Yvonne Morgan learned that Aria Sinclair had interfered.
Aria Sinclair told Mrs. Rhodes that Yvonne Morgan was not her daughter and that she had decided to disown her.
The moment Mrs. Rhodes heard this, she instantly made her decision.
’Without the Morgan family, Yvonne Morgan is nothing.’
"Damn it, damn them all!" Yvonne Morgan had been on a rampage all morning, utterly trashing her room.
The more she thought about it, the more she refused to accept it. She stormed out of her room and strode toward Aria Sinclair’s room.
"Yvonne, why don’t we go downstairs and eat first?" Zoe Morgan asked, following worriedly beside her and reaching out to take her arm.
Yvonne Morgan immediately flung her hand off in disgust.
Caught off guard, Zoe Morgan staggered from the shove and fell to the floor.
Yvonne Morgan grabbed the doorknob and wrenched at it, but it wouldn’t budge at all.
’Aria Sinclair was expecting this; she’d actually locked the door.’
Furious, she lifted her foot and kicked the door hard several times.
Seeing her on the verge of a frenzied breakdown, Zoe Morgan’s heart ached with sorrow. "Yvonne, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault."
"Of course it’s your fault!" Yvonne Morgan turned and glared at her, her eyes filled with malice. "You’re the one who ruined everything!"
"I’m sorry." Tears streamed down Zoe Morgan’s face, and she could only apologize repeatedly. "I’m truly sorry."
"What’s the use of being sorry? You should be figuring out a solution!" Yvonne Morgan snapped before heading straight downstairs.
She pulled out her phone and only then saw Sean Fuller’s reply.
Why so pessimistic all of a sudden?
Yvonne Morgan’s eyes flickered, and she quickly typed a reply.
"Yvonne, eat first," Zoe Morgan said, quickly opening the take-out containers. Her tone was placating. "Don’t be angry. I’m sure there’s a solution."
Yvonne Morgan kept her head down, not wanting to deal with her.
Zoe Morgan sat down across from her and pulled out her phone, intending to message Aria Sinclair. But just then, Aria herself called.
She glanced at the screen and stood up, about to take the call elsewhere, when Yvonne Morgan asked, "Is there some reason you can’t take this call in front of me?"
"No." Zoe Morgan shook her head, put the phone to her ear, and said softly, "Sister-in-law."
Yvonne Morgan froze in the middle of taking a bite of meat.
Aria Sinclair asked where she was.
"I—I’m with Yvonne," Zoe Morgan stammered.
"Where exactly?"
"At the Morgan house."
Aria Sinclair sounded a little surprised. "You’re still there?"
’It seems Yvonne Morgan is dead set on staying in the Morgan house.’
"Sister-in-law, where... did you go?" Zoe Morgan asked hesitantly.
"We’ll be over in a bit," Aria Sinclair said, then hung up.
Yvonne Morgan lost all interest in eating. "What did that woman say?" she asked urgently.
"She said they’ll be back in a bit."
"Great, they’re coming back!"
Yvonne Morgan seemed almost overjoyed, but a sense of dread settled over Zoe Morgan.
Meanwhile, Sean Fuller saw Yvonne Morgan’s reply and was so disgusted he nearly threw up.
Yvonne Morgan: [Because I’ve fallen in love with someone I shouldn’t have... That person is you.]
"Is she nuts?"
Sean Fuller was thoroughly disgusted.
He took a screenshot and sent it to Renee Jennings: [Renee, I really don’t know what to do anymore.]
Renee Jennings, who was having brunch, was also stunned for a long moment when she saw the screenshot.
"Renee, what are you staring at?" Michelle Fuller asked.
Renee Jennings handed her the phone. "You guys should see this."
"BLEGH—" Michelle Fuller nearly gagged in disgust as well. She was about to let loose a string of curses, but then she remembered there was a child present and forced out, "Wow, she’s really something."
A few seconds later, a mischievous glint appeared in her eyes. She giggled. "I’ll tell Sean what to write back."
Michelle Fuller handed the phone back to Renee Jennings, pulled out her own, and her fingers flew as she typed a message.
[Sean, reply to her with this: Is that true? Yvonne, I’ve actually liked you for a long time too.]
Sean Fuller slowly typed back a single character: [?]
Sean Fuller: [Wait, Sis, what if she takes it seriously?]
Michelle Fuller: [Even better if she does. It’ll just make it that much more dramatic when she finally learns the truth.]
Sean Fuller: [Sis, you’re so devious.]
Michelle Fuller: [Sean, I’ll be honest with you. I actually had a dream a while back. In it, you and Yvonne Morgan got together. You wouldn’t listen to a thing Renee or I told you, and you grew to hate us. But in the end, Yvonne Morgan abandoned you.]
Sean Fuller: [Okay, Sis, I get it. I’ll send the reply just like you said.]
Michelle Fuller smiled in satisfaction, put down her phone, and picked up her chopsticks again.
As Renee Jennings continued to eat, the screen of the phone she had set aside lit up again.
This time, it was a text alert.
She leaned her face closer, and the phone automatically unlocked via facial recognition. It displayed a long wall of text from an unknown number.
[Renee, I’ve already arranged things with Zoe Morgan. She’s at the Morgan house. I’ll get there around two-thirty. The address is...]
Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow, her gaze flicking to the time in the corner of the screen. It was 1:13 p.m.
She looked up the location of the Morgan house on her map.
It was a forty-minute drive from Eastgate Villa.
Renee Jennings replied with a simple "Okay" and then announced to the others, "Alright, girls, showtime has been set. It’s at two-thirty, so we’ll head out at one-forty."
After their meal, the three of them went upstairs to quickly freshen up before heading out.
Michelle Fuller sat in the driver’s seat, humming to herself the entire way, a pair of sunglasses perched on her nose.
Partway there, Sylvia Brooks received a phone call.
After hanging up, she leaned forward, bringing herself closer to the front seats. "I have some good news. Addie has officially cut ties with her adoptive parents."
"For real?" Michelle Fuller exclaimed in delight. "That’s fantastic! We have to celebrate."
"That’s amazing." Renee Jennings smiled too, turning to give Sylvia Brooks a thumbs-up. "You get the credit for that."
Sylvia Brooks’s eyes crinkled in a smile. "It was a group effort."
Michelle Fuller glanced at her in the rearview mirror, grinning. "After we watch the drama unfold, let’s treat our Sister Sharon to a big feast."
Renee Jennings nodded. "Agreed."
Sylvia Brooks raised an eyebrow. "It’s hard to refuse such a generous offer. In that case, I’ll take you up on it."
The car arrived at the gated community where the Morgan residence was located. Someone must have called ahead, because when they said they were going to the Morgan house, the guard immediately waved them through.
Two cars were parked in front of the Morgan house.
"Renee is here." Seeing Renee Jennings get out of the car, Aria Sinclair quickly pushed her own door open and stepped out.
Zachary Morgan stepped out of the other car. His eyes fell on Renee Jennings, and his brow furrowed as a peculiar expression crossed his face.
