The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 476: What Do Girls Fear Most?

Chapter 476: Chapter 476: What Do Girls Fear Most?

The cat was a black-and-white Lion Cat with heterochromia, and the dog was a black pastoral dog.

As Renee Jennings drew near, the cat and dog sensed her unique, pleasant scent. They both got up from the ground and stared at her curiously.

"Meow, this human smells so good."

"Woof, she seems like a good human."

Renee Jennings chuckled at their words. "You two are so cute, and smart, too. You’re right, I’m a good human now."

The Lion Cat was an extrovert. It walked right up to Renee Jennings with a sense of familiarity, pawing at her skirt in a blatant plea for cuddles.

"Good human, how can you understand meows and woofs?" the Lion Cat asked, staring at her curiously with its mismatched blue and yellow eyes.

"It’s my superpower." Renee Jennings bent down, scooped the cat into her arms, and then crouched in front of the black dog. She smiled and said, "What were you two talking about just now? Can you tell me?"

Just as she finished speaking, Michelle Fuller’s voice called out, "Renee? Are you heading back?"

"I’m over here," Renee Jennings called back.

Michelle Fuller followed the sound and found her, her attention immediately captured by the Lion Cat in Renee Jennings’s arms. "Wow, its eyes are so beautiful."

The Lion Cat was delighted by the compliment and let out a cutesy meow. "Meeow~"

Michelle Fuller reached out to scratch the Lion Cat’s chin, beaming. "Aww, you’re just so adorable and cute!"

The black dog watched from the side, its brow furrowed. It muttered a displeased little woof, "Could you guys show a dog some respect?"

"There, there, you’re very handsome, too." Renee Jennings patted its head and said softly, "What’s your name? Did you happen to hear a secret just now? Could you share it with me?"

Pleased by the praise, the black dog cheered up. "Heh heh, of course I can share it with you! Oh, right, my name is Shadow."

"What secret?" Michelle Fuller asked, blinking curiously.

Renee Jennings leaned in and whispered something in her ear.

"Ah!" Michelle Fuller’s eyes went wide with surprise. "Then hurry up and ask!"

This kind of situation could be a matter of life and death.

"Okay." Renee Jennings handed the Lion Cat to her and fixed her gaze seriously on the black dog. "Shadow, can you tell me in detail what you heard earlier?"

Shadow began to recount what he had heard. "Tonight, some humans came to eat, saying they were celebrating because someone did really well on their exams and got into some great university."

Renee Jennings asked, "Did well on the college entrance exams and got into a great university?"

"Yes, yes, yes!" Shadow nodded vigorously. "That’s it! The college entrance exams!"

"Go on."

Shadow: "There were two humans who took the exams, a boy and a girl. The one who did really well was the girl! She got lots and lots of points, more points than the boy!"

"And then?"

"And then... and then... the boy’s parents were really unhappy. They snuck out to talk about harming the girl who got more points. The mom said, ’Why does their daughter get to go to such a good university while my son has to repeat the year?’"

"The dad said angrily, ’Damn it, seeing their whole family laughing so happily is pissing me the hell off!’"

"Then the mom said, ’Isn’t it though? This meal has left a fire in my stomach! Seeing my son with his head down, not saying a word... I’m too full of anger to eat!’"

"Then the dad said, ’I just can’t swallow this! I can’t let that family be so smug!’"

The husband and wife exchanged a look and walked to a more secluded spot to discuss how to deal with that disgusting family.

Shadow loved gossip, so he trotted along after them, wanting to hear what else the two humans would say.

When he got there and listened, he heard a huge secret.

"Honey, we can’t let the Marshes keep acting so arrogant. What they’re doing is hurting our son!"

"I know. I’ve already thought of a way."

"Really? What is it?"

The middle-aged man lowered his voice and whispered in his wife’s ear, "First, we’ll ruin Melody Marsh!"

The middle-aged woman asked suspiciously, "How do we ruin her?"

"What are young girls most afraid of?" The middle-aged man gave his wife a meaningful look.

The middle-aged woman understood immediately. "I see!"

Shadow didn’t understand what young girls were most afraid of, only that they were going to harm the girl who got lots and lots of points.

The gossip-loving Shadow even followed the middle-aged couple into the private room to see the girl.

He really wanted to tell the girl that the two humans she was eating with were bad guys.

But unfortunately, the girl couldn’t understand him. Everyone heard him barking and shooed him out of the private room.

So, Shadow had no choice but to find his friend to share the secret with.

"And that’s what happened!" Shadow finished, looking up at Renee Jennings eagerly. "Human sister, I’ve told you the secret. Am I amazing or what?"

Renee Jennings stroked his head, her voice gentle. "Shadow, you are amazing. Truly amazing."

Shadow was thrilled by the praise and grinned, his tongue lolling out. "Thanks for the compliment!"

The Lion Cat’s claws might as well have been scratching at Michelle Fuller’s own heart. Her voice was laced with urgency. "Renee, what’s the plan?"

"Let’s go back to our room first, I’ll tell you there." Renee Jennings’s delicate brows furrowed. She said to Shadow, "Take us to see which room it is, okay?"

Michelle Fuller nodded. "Okay."

Shadow also nodded his head vigorously. "No problem!"

The two women, the cat, and the dog headed down the hallway.

Shadow led the way, stopping in front of a private room named "Purple Bamboo Hall." He turned and woofed, "Human sister, this is it!"

"Thanks, Shadow." Renee Jennings said her thanks, then, after a moment’s hesitation, stepped forward and pushed the door open.

Her gaze swept over the people inside, and an embarrassed look appeared on her fair face. "Sorry, wrong room."

A middle-aged woman with a gentle disposition smiled slightly. "It’s alright."

Renee Jennings gave a small nod, closed the door again, and took Michelle Fuller’s hand to leave.

Shadow and the Lion Cat followed behind them with elegant steps.

As they neared their own room, they ran into a rather serious-looking Zachary Conway.

"Are you going to the restroom?" Michelle Fuller asked.

When Zachary Conway saw the two of them, his expression instantly relaxed. He joked, "I came looking for you. I thought you’d ditched me and left already."

"How could we?" Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow slightly. "We came together, so we have to leave together."

Michelle Fuller: "Exactly. The family has to stick together."

Zachary Conway scratched his head, saying shyly, "You were gone for so long, I was actually getting a little worried."

Renee Jennings’s voice was low. "Let’s go back to the room first. There’s something I need to discuss with you."

The moment Zachary Conway heard her tone, he had a premonition that something big was about to happen. "Okay."

The three of them returned to their room. When Jude Sherman saw the expressions on their faces, the cat and dog with them, and considered how long they’d been gone, his own expression turned serious. "Ms. Jennings, Miss Fuller, did something happen?"
