The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 463: Fanny, You’ve Really Been Deceived

Chapter 463: Chapter 463: Fanny, You’ve Really Been Deceived

After her shower, Renee Jennings picked up her phone to see if Michelle Fuller had messaged her.

She didn’t see a message from Michelle Fuller, but she did see one from Zoe Morgan.

[Hello, can we meet?]

’Meet?’

Renee Jennings had no interest in meeting her and shot back a two-word reply: [Who’s this?]

After sending the message to Renee Jennings, Zoe Morgan began to feel anxious.

She finished the red wine in her glass, then glanced at her phone. The screen was still dark.

Zoe Morgan poured herself another glass and tilted her head back, downing it in one go.

After some time, her phone finally buzzed.

DING!

Zoe Morgan glanced over. The screen was lit up, showing a new WeChat message.

When she tapped it open and saw the reply, her brow instantly furrowed.

’Isn’t it obvious who I am?’

Zoe Morgan, annoyed, slammed her phone back on the table and downed two more glasses of wine. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Only after her temper had cooled slightly did she reply: [This is Zoe Morgan.]

Renee Jennings was at her vanity doing her skincare routine. When the screen lit up, she didn’t even glance at it. She leisurely finished applying cream to her face and neck before picking up her phone and climbing into bed.

’Zoe Morgan?’

A smirk played on her lips as she typed out and sent two more words: [And who?]

Infuriated by her attitude, Zoe Morgan simply placed a voice call.

Renee Jennings hesitated for a few seconds before answering. "Hello?"

Zoe Morgan’s voice was shrill. "Renee Jennings, we’ve met. Have you forgotten?"

"I have," Renee Jennings replied breezily with just two words.

Zoe Morgan felt choked by her words, her mood growing heavy as if a boulder was crushing her chest. "Have you heard of the Morgan family?"

"No."

"Didn’t your parents tell you that your birth parents are someone else? I’m your biological father’s sister, Zoe Morgan."

"And?"

"You..."

Zoe Morgan couldn’t believe how difficult she was being.

The silence stretched on for a little too long. "If you’re not going to say anything, I’m hanging up," Renee Jennings said impatiently.

"Wait," Zoe Morgan said quickly. "I still hope we can meet."

Renee Jennings let out a dry laugh. "And why should I?"

Zoe Morgan’s brow furrowed so deeply you could trap a fly in it. "I am your elder, after all. I hope we can meet and have a proper conversation."

"Elder?" Renee Jennings laughed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Did you raise me? What gives you the right to call yourself my elder?"

’Although the dream hadn’t explained why she ended up as a child of the Jennings family, Zoe Morgan’s attitude in it was enough to make Renee feel no warmth toward her.’

’She seemed even more opposed to Renee staying with the Morgan family than Mr. and Mrs. Morgan themselves.’

’Zoe Morgan’s disgust for her was as strong as her affection for Yvonne Morgan. Renee even suspected Zoe had something to do with the switch at birth.’

Zoe Morgan had never been treated so disrespectfully. Her face turned ugly as she gripped her phone tighter, her voice low and menacing. "Renee Jennings, is this how the Jennings family raised you? You have absolutely no class!"

"Ms. Morgan!" Renee was angry now, too. "You have no right to judge me, and you certainly have no right to judge my family! You talk about class? Is this your ’class’—judging others so freely? Well, then, I’m sorry, but I guess I don’t have that kind of class."

"Such a sharp tongue!" Zoe Morgan seethed.

Renee Jennings couldn’t be bothered to waste another breath on her and hung up.

Listening to the dial tone, Zoe Morgan’s face flushed red with anger, her breath coming in short gasps. "How outrageous!"

’A junior, daring to treat her elder like this! If we bring her into the Morgan family, how could Yvonne possibly have a peaceful life?’

Zoe Morgan remembered Faye Wyatt’s praise for Renee Jennings and quickly dialed her number.

The moment the call connected, she blurted out, "Fanny, you’ll never guess who I just called."

"Who’d you call?" Faye Wyatt had just gotten out of the shower and was sitting in her massage chair with a face mask on.

"I called Renee Jennings."

"You called Renee? How did it go?"

Zoe Morgan had been drinking, so her thoughts weren’t clear. Fueled by anger, her logic became muddled. "You’ve been fooled, Fanny! She’s not like that at all. She’s so rude!"

Hearing this, Faye Wyatt frowned slightly. "Vivi, what are you talking about? Have you been drinking?"

"A little." Zoe Morgan threw back another glass of wine, all elegance gone. "Fanny, you’ve been had. She’s just putting on an act for you."

"Who are you talking about? Renee?"

"Yes. I just called her. She was incredibly disrespectful. It’s obvious she has no breeding."

Faye Wyatt’s frown deepened, and she peeled the mask from her face. "Vivi, what are you talking about? Renee is a wonderful girl. She’s not like that at all."

"That’s why I’m saying you’ve been fooled!" Zoe Morgan was getting drunk and couldn’t stand hearing Faye Wyatt praise Renee. "Fanny, how can you be so naive? She’s tricking you!"

Faye Wyatt was starting to get annoyed herself. Suppressing her irritation, she said, "I’m forty-two, not twenty-two. I’m perfectly capable of judging for myself whether someone is fooling me or putting on an act."

"You’ve just been fooled!" Zoe Morgan repeated, insistent. "Are you even listening to me? She doesn’t even respect me, her own elder. How could she possibly respect you?"

Faye Wyatt almost laughed out of sheer exasperation. But, knowing Zoe Morgan was drunk, she said calmly, "You’ve had too much to drink. Get some rest. We can talk about this tomorrow when you’re sober."

"I’m perfectly sober!" Zoe Morgan started repeating herself again. "Fanny, you’ve really been fooled..."

Faye Wyatt had no patience for a drunkard’s ramblings and hung up.

Zoe Morgan didn’t even seem to notice, still muttering to herself, "She has no class at all. Having a niece like that would be so embarrassing..."

Faye Wyatt sat in her massage chair, feeling a little worried about Renee Jennings.

’Is she okay?’

’Did Vivi’s words hurt her?’

After a moment of hesitation, Faye Wyatt decided to send Renee a concerned WeChat message: [Renee, did Vivi get in touch with you?]

Renee Jennings wasn’t affected by Zoe Morgan at all. She was currently on a group video call on WeChat with Michelle Fuller and Sylvia Brooks.

"Sylvia, are you thinking of getting a dog or a cat?" Michelle Fuller asked while gliding a home beauty device over her face.

Sylvia Brooks had just gotten home from work, still in full makeup. Staring at her empty apartment, she suddenly felt a pang of loneliness and had told the group chat she was thinking about getting a pet.

"I’m kind of thinking of getting a bird." She remembered that she’d only escaped Noel Lee with her life thanks in large part to the Little Sparrow, and she’d had a soft spot for birds ever since.

Just as Renee Jennings was about to speak, she heard a sound from her windowsill.

She glanced over and could vaguely make out something standing on the other side of the glass. As she walked closer, she came face-to-face with a pair of big, round eyes.

’What is this? A falcon?’

Renee Jennings switched to her rear-facing camera and teased, "Sylvia just said she wanted a bird, and one just showed up at my place. Take a look."

Michelle Fuller exclaimed in surprise, "For real? Catch it and give it to Sylvia! It’s fate!"

Renee Jennings said, "I don’t dare try to catch it."
