The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 425: It Wants to Save Its Family

Chapter 425: Chapter 425: It Wants to Save Its Family

Renee Jennings and Sawyer had just arrived at the office when they smelled ginger.

"They’re here," Kyle Morgan called out.

Zachary Conway waved them over. "Come on, come on. A bowl of ginger soup for each of you to warm up. The boss arranged it."

"Props to the boss." Sawyer gave a thumbs-up.

Renee Jennings took a few sips of the ginger soup and asked softly, "Did Henry Stark go to interrogate Sean Quinn?"

"No, the guy’s just being left to cool his heels in the interrogation room," said Levi Hollis. "The boss is in Director Lowell’s office."

Just as Renee Jennings finished her ginger soup, Henry Stark came out of Quentin Lowell’s office.

He raised an eyebrow. "Renee Jennings, Director Lowell is looking for you."

"Me?" Renee Jennings blinked and asked in a low voice, "Did he say what it’s about?"

"He didn’t say." Henry Stark shook his head. "He probably wants to praise you."

Renee Jennings: "..."

’Is that possible?’

’It actually might be.’

As soon as Renee Jennings entered Quentin Lowell’s office, he greeted her with a broad smile. "Kane, we have you to thank for this one. Otherwise, this case would have kept everyone busy for a while."

"It wasn’t my credit to take." Renee Jennings gave a faint smile. "Inky was the one who discovered it, and it was Inky who asked a Noctus for help. That’s how we were able to catch Sean Quinn so quickly."

"Inky, I remember it." Quentin Lowell’s expression turned serious. "Once the case is closed, I’ll have to thank it properly."

Renee Jennings smiled. "Henry Stark said he’s going to throw a celebration party for it."

"Excellent, excellent!" Quentin Lowell chuckled. "Hold it right here at the bureau. I’ll attend, too."

"Okay." Renee Jennings nodded. "If there’s nothing else, Director Lowell, I’ll be going?"

Quentin Lowell nodded, watching her leave.

"Renee," Sawyer waved to her. "They’ve gone in to interrogate Sean Quinn. Want to go watch?"

"Yes," Renee Jennings agreed immediately.

Inside the interrogation room, Sean Quinn seemed to have calmed down.

In response to Henry Stark’s questioning, he said unhurriedly, "I don’t understand what you’re talking about. Who is this Rui Tucker?"

Henry Stark stared at him, his gaze cold. "Are you sure you don’t want to tell the truth?"

"I already have," Sean Quinn said flatly. "I don’t know any Rui Tucker, and I haven’t hurt anyone."

"We saw you at the Sea of Lycoris, armed with a knife, injuring someone."

"Who did I injure? Do you have any proof?"

"Of course we have proof."

Levi Hollis stood up, walked over to him, and showed him a video. "We have video evidence of everything you did at the Sea of Lycoris today. You personally admitted in the video that you killed Rui Tucker."

Sean Quinn stared intently at the screen, his eyes filled with resentment, his molars clenched tight.

He had thought he would never be discovered. He hadn’t expected this day to come so soon.

"Why did you hurt them?" Henry Stark’s expression was grim. "Besides Sherry Zane and Rui Tucker, how many other people have you hurt?"

Sean Quinn closed his eyes, pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek, and then suddenly started laughing. "Haha..."

Levi Hollis frowned, while Henry Stark remained expressionless.

"He’s like a total psycho," Sawyer muttered under her breath, watching the scene through the glass.

"Well, he is sick," said Kyle Morgan. "Being a psychopath is a very serious illness."

When Sean Quinn had laughed his fill, he stopped. The first thing he asked was, "Who was that girl? Is she a cop too?"

Henry Stark said in a low voice, "Who she is has nothing to do with you."

"Bring her in." Sean Quinn raised his cuffed hands to adjust his glasses. "I’ll only talk to her. I won’t say a thing to anyone else."

"What do you think this place is?" Henry Stark’s displeasure was evident on his face.

Sean Quinn leaned back in his chair and looked at him with a smirk. "I don’t mean anything by it. I’m just more familiar with her."

Henry Stark didn’t pay him any mind and got up to leave the interrogation room.

Levi Hollis followed him out.

"Let’s eat dinner first." Henry Stark didn’t let Renee Jennings interrogate Sean Quinn, deciding to let him stew for a while longer.

After dinner, Zachary Conway was standing by the window smoking when he saw Inky again. This time, he greeted it directly. "Hey Inky, you here to see Renee Jennings?"

This time, Inky, now familiar with the route, flew right up to him, chirping and nodding. "Yes, I’m looking for Renee."

Zachary Conway opened the window all the way. "Come on in."

Inky flew inside with a flutter of its wings.

"Inky, what are you doing here again?" Renee Jennings frowned slightly. "Don’t tell me someone else is in trouble..."

"No, no," Inky explained hastily. "Renee, it’s about King."

King is a Noctus. He said he was the Prince of Vampire Bats, so Inky and the others just called him King for convenience.

"What does King need?" Renee Jennings had said she wanted to thank him for his help.

Inky said, "A bat in King’s family is injured. He wants to save his family member."

"Where is his family?" Renee Jennings asked hurriedly.

"They’re in that forest."

"I understand." Renee Jennings told the others and prepared to go with Inky to find King’s family.

Hearing this, Sawyer immediately said, "It’s so late. I’ll go with you."

Henry Stark was naturally worried about two young women going to such a remote place in the middle of the night, so he had Levi Hollis and Zachary Conway go with them.

Renee Jennings first went to buy a bio-container. On the way, she also tried to contact Faye Wyatt to ask if she could help arrange for a vet to treat the Noctus.

An ordinary pet clinic probably wouldn’t have the expertise for this. Besides, Noctus carry a lot of viruses, so most people are unwilling to handle them.

But Faye Wyatt must have been resting, as no one answered the phone.

Renee Jennings put down her phone and said softly, "Director Wyatt isn’t answering. Let’s just take it directly to the wildlife protection base later."

Renee Jennings’s group arrived at the forest and picked up King the Noctus and the injured bat.

Since they carried a large number of germs, Renee Jennings had both bats stay inside the bio-container. She drove toward the wildlife protection base with the car windows open.

The injured bat was King’s younger brother. King said that one day, his brother had accidentally injured his wing membrane while flying and hadn’t been able to fly since.

Although King was willing to take care of his brother, feeding him the blood he collected, his brother couldn’t accept becoming a flightless Noctus.

After that, he became depressed. Even when King brought blood right to him, he refused to eat.

King only had this one brother. It pained him greatly to watch his brother grow thinner and thinner.

He remembered his ancestors saying that humans were omnipotent, so he made this request to a human: to save his brother.

The police car sped through the night, finally arriving at the wildlife protection base at eleven o’clock.

The doctor on duty was Owen Dunn. When he saw Renee Jennings, a look of surprise and delight appeared on his face. "Miss Jennings, we meet again."

"Dr. Dunn, I’m afraid we have to trouble you again today." Renee Jennings didn’t have time for pleasantries, pointing to the bio-container Levi Hollis was holding. "This Noctus is injured and can’t fly. Could you please take a look at it?"

"A Noctus?" A trace of surprise flickered in Owen Dunn’s eyes, but his tone was gentle. "I might need to contact some of my colleagues to treat it."
