Chapter 354: Not the Old Lady’s Biological Son

Chapter 354: Chapter 354: Not the Old Lady’s Biological Son

Renee Jennings found what Dumpling said utterly unbelievable.

’Why on earth would this old woman treat Joy like this?’

She pressed her lips together, hesitating for a few seconds before speaking. "Fallon, I have a question, but it might be a bit forward."

"That’s okay, Host," Fallon said hurriedly. "Ask anything you like."

Renee Jennings: "Is Joy your and your husband’s biological child?"

[This is actually a bit offensive!]

[I was curious too. The old lady’s attitude toward Joy is just not right.]

Fallon, however, said calmly, "Joy is our biological daughter. Why do you ask?"

Renee Jennings: "Dumpling says your mother-in-law wants your husband to dislike Joy and favor Momo, to spend all the money he earns on Momo instead."

[I can’t even. This old lady is a real piece of work.]

[Good heavens, what did Joy ever do wrong???]

Sean Sterling’s brow furrowed tightly. He looked at the old woman, completely baffled. "Mom, why are you targeting Joy like this?"

"I’m not! Don’t listen to that host’s nonsense!" The old woman’s face was ashen, and she glared malevolently at Dumpling.

’I can’t believe this dog has been eavesdropping on our conversations. It’s impossible to guard against.’

"I know, I know!" Dumpling started calling out again just then, raising a fluffy paw. "I know why Grandma isn’t nice to Joy!"

[Did Dumpling figure something else out?]

[Holy cow, Dumpling is amazing!]

"That’s right." A slight smile touched the corner of Renee Jennings’s lips. "Dumpling says it knows why the old woman isn’t nice to Joy."

The old woman’s expression changed abruptly. She snatched the ashtray from the coffee table and hurled it at Dumpling.

Luckily, Dumpling was quick and leaped away in an instant.

The ashtray shattered on impact, sending shards of glass scattering across the floor.

[What was that noise? What did she throw?]

Fallon shielded Joy, glaring furiously at the old woman. "You’ve gone too far! How could you throw an ashtray at Dumpling!"

[How’s Dumpling?]

[Is Dumpling okay?]

[The meaning is obvious. The old hag is afraid Dumpling will reveal the truth.]

[Spit it out, Dumpling! I want to see for myself why someone would treat their own granddaughter this way.]

Dumpling hadn’t expected the old woman to actually attack it. Its eyes immediately turned fierce, and it stared at her, gnashing its teeth. Its barks also grew much more vicious.

"You’re a bad person! You said Dad isn’t your biological son, so you don’t love him, and you won’t love the daughter he has either."

Hearing this, Renee Jennings’s expression filled with understanding.

’That would explain the old woman’s antisocial behavior.’

[Renee, what did Dumpling say?]

[I’m so anxious!!!]

Fallon was anxious too. She gripped her phone tightly, her eyes fixed eagerly on the screen. "Did Dumpling say something?"

"It said your husband isn’t the old woman’s biological son," Renee Jennings said in a grave tone. "That’s why she doesn’t love the daughter your husband had."

The old woman’s face instantly turned deathly pale, a flash of panic in her eyes.

Sean Sterling looked at the old woman in shock. "Mom, is what Host Jennings said true?"

’I’m not her biological son?’

He had always thought his mother was just playing favorites—that she doted on her younger daughter and, by extension, favored Momo as well.

But he never imagined the truth would be this absurd.

"No." The old woman’s pale face was a mask of panic. "It’s not true. Shaun, don’t believe her. She’s talking nonsense, trying to drive a wedge between us."

Dumpling was furious at her attempt to attack it and barked indignantly, "It is true! You definitely said that after you got married, you couldn’t have a baby for a long time, so you bought Dad from someone. But you didn’t expect to have your own baby the year after Dad came home."

Renee Jennings relayed Dumpling’s words, unable to resist adding with a sigh, "A person’s conscience is truly important."

[Holy shit, who would’ve thought a case of stolen allowance money would unravel all this?]

[What a bombshell! This old lady must be regretting this to her core.]

[This old lady’s character...]

[Fallon, just grab your daughter and run!]

Sean Sterling’s eyes were red as he looked at the old woman, his voice trembling slightly. "Mom, say something. Is it true?"

"No... I..." The old woman still wanted to deny it, but she was too guilt-ridden to finish her sentence.

Seeing her like this, Sean Sterling already knew the truth.

He stood up and walked into the room without a word.

Joy watched his dejected back, calling out softly, "Dad..."

Fallon sighed and said softly, "Let your dad cool down for a bit."

She glanced down at her phone, about to thank Renee Jennings, when she saw a comment asking why she hadn’t moved out before.

"Actually, I’ve brought up moving several times." Fallon’s voice was tinged with helplessness. "But every time, Joy’s dad and I would end up fighting about it."

She stroked Joy’s head before continuing, "Her dad felt that moving out would be like abandoning his parents, so he insisted on staying here."

[Is your husband a mama’s boy?]

[He has his parents in his heart, but sadly, his parents don’t have him in theirs.]

[Well, now he should be willing to move.]

Fallon saw that last comment, and the corner of her mouth lifted slightly. In her heart, she felt a small sense of relief.

"He should be willing now."

Just then, Momo suddenly rushed over and yelled, "Hurry up and tell your friend not to call the police dogs!"

His demanding tone irritated the viewers in the stream.

[This kid has no manners.]

[You have to move out! I can’t even imagine how he must bully Joy normally.]

Fallon looked at Momo coldly. "Stay away from me!"

"What’s that attitude toward my son?" Her sister-in-law looked displeased. She rolled up her sleeves, rushed over, and reached past the camera to grab Fallon’s collar.

Seeing this, Renee Jennings spoke calmly, "The Zenvia police are in the stream. You’d better think twice if you want to assault someone."

Hearing this, the sister-in-law resentfully let go but shot back a threat, "I’m warning you, be more polite to my son!"

Fallon ignored her and led Joy toward the bedroom.

She opened the bedroom door and saw Sean Sterling sitting on the rug by the bed, his head in his hands.

Fallon said softly, "Host, thank you so much for today."

She crouched down next to Joy, her voice gentle. "Joy, thank Renee, and thank everyone in the stream who cared about us."

Joy obediently said thank you.

Fallon moved the camera back to face her. "I’m going to log off now. Thanks again to all the viewers who were concerned about us. I wish you all a wonderful life. Goodbye."

After Fallon disconnected, she sent two "Shining Fireworks" gifts, each worth 999 yuan.

Renee Jennings thanked Fallon and then connected with the second viewer.

The next two viewers who connected both had questions about their pets, so it didn’t take much time to resolve their issues.

At midnight, Renee Jennings ended her stream.

She walked out of her study and noticed the lights were still on downstairs. Thinking she had forgotten to turn them off, she went down to do so.

But to her surprise, she saw Glenn Zane kneeling on the floor, wiping it with a cloth.

"Zane, why aren’t you resting yet?" Renee Jennings asked him, surprised.
