After putting hair accessories on Dani, Kelly, and Timi, Renee Jennings took a tour cart and left the Lion Park.
The morning passed just like that.
Faye Wyatt warmly invited her to lunch. Renee’s stomach was indeed rumbling, so she didn’t refuse.
After lunch, Renee continued to wander around the zoo.
Faye Wyatt had offered to accompany her, but Renee declined, saying it would feel too much like work.
She explored every nook and cranny of the zoo. By the time Renee reached the Tiger Park, she could barely move her legs, an aching soreness radiating up from the soles of her feet.
It was nearly four in the evening. The deep blue sky was faintly tinged with a soft orange glow, but the viewing platform at the Tiger Park was still packed with people.
Renee stood at the edge of the crowd, gazing from afar at the big cats dozing on the ground.
A slight smile graced her lips, her bright eyes filled with mirth.
Just then, a large tiger’s eyes snapped open. Its massive body stirred in an instant as it whipped its head around to stare toward the viewing platform.
"I smell Renee!" Niner roared in pleasant surprise.
Hearing this, the other tigers, who had been lounging lazily, also began to stir.
Carter shouted excitedly, "Where? Where’s Renee? How come I don’t see her?"
"She’s here! Renee’s here! She came to see us!" Rory had already caught Renee’s scent and bolted off like lightning, his four paws kicking up a cloud of dust as they nimbly struck the ground.
Rory arrived at the viewing glass, drawing cheers from the visitors.
"The tigers are awake!"
"They’ve been sleeping this whole time. I thought we’d only get to see them sleep today!"
"Whoa, so cool! The king of beasts for a reason!"
"Hey, big tiger, give us a meow~"
Rory pressed his big head against the viewing glass, carefully scanning the crowd of visitors before him, his heart filled with anticipation for a familiar face.
’Where is she, where is she? Where is my good friend Renee?’
"I’ll help you look!" Niner’s movements perfectly mirrored Rory’s.
A moment later, Carter and Fero arrived as well.
The four large tigers pressed their heads and front paws against the viewing glass. It was a funny and interesting sight, and the visitors all took out their phones to record the moment.
Renee found it amusing too. She took out her phone and snapped a few pictures before waving at them. "Are you looking for me?"
"Found her, found her!" Carter was the first to spot Renee, and he roared with excitement. "It really is Renee!"
Rory, Niner, and Fero also caught sight of Renee. They excitedly waved their thick, powerful paws, their round tiger eyes overflowing with warmth and joy.
"Renee, you finally came to see us!"
"Renee, I’ve missed you so much!"
"Are you sure you can’t come be our Breeder?"
Hearing their voices, Renee couldn’t stop the corners of her mouth from turning up.
"Consultant Jennings." Evan Griffin had appeared beside her at some point, calling to her softly. "I’ve been waiting for you."
Renee looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "Waiting for me?"
"Yes." Evan Griffin adjusted his glasses and smiled. "I heard you were here, and I guessed you would definitely come to see them."
The two chatted as they walked toward the staff entrance.
Renee explained, "Actually, the whole reason I came today was to see them."
"Look how excited they are." Evan Griffin pointed at the viewing glass. "They look like they wish they could smash the glass and come find you."
"That wouldn’t do, it’s too dangerous," Renee said quickly. "It’s much more appropriate for me to go in and see them."
Evan Griffin nodded in agreement. "My thoughts exactly."
The tigers were smart. Seeing Renee leave with Evan Griffin, they ran over to the Breeder entrance and waited.
"Hello." Renee waved as she passed through two iron gates to stand before them. "Have you all been eating well lately?"
She had barely found her footing when the tigers all crowded around, nudging their heads toward her.
"Renee, I’ve been eating well, but Carter’s been naughty! He farts in front of me every time we eat!" Rory immediately tattled.
Carter quickly retorted, "I did not! I was just messing with Rory!"
"Farting while eating is already unhygienic enough," Renee said, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. "And you actually run up to Rory to do it?"
"Exactly, exactly! It’s so unsanitary!" Rory’s big, furry face was full of disgust.
Carter lowered his head guiltily. "I’ll change! I won’t do it again!"
"It’s good to admit your mistakes and change your ways," Renee said with a light laugh. "Alright, don’t just crowd around here. Go on, go play outside."
"Renee, I’ll carry you," Rory said, lying down in front of her.
Renee’s feet were very tired, so she didn’t refuse Rory’s kind offer and climbed onto his back.
Rory carried her, each step slow and careful, as if afraid of jostling her off.
"Look, there’s a person sitting on the tiger’s back!"
"It’s Renee Jennings! AHHH, I can’t believe I’m seeing her ride a tiger with my own eyes!"
"Who’s Renee Jennings?"
"The animal consultant! I just saw her in the Lion Park blow-drying a lion’s mane and putting clips in its hair!"
"That’s so amazing! I always thought that stuff was special effects, I can’t believe it’s actually real..."
A heated discussion broke out among the crowd of visitors in the viewing area.
Rory, carrying Renee, proudly warned the other tigers, "You all stay back. It doesn’t matter if you bump into me, but if you knock Renee off, that’ll be a huge problem!"
Hearing this, Renee looked helpless and couldn’t help but ask, "How huge of a problem could it be if I got knocked off?"
Rory gritted his teeth. "If anyone dares knock you off, we tigers will definitely beat them to a pulp!"
Renee: "What if I just lose my balance and accidentally fall off?"
"Well..." Rory frowned, thought for a moment, and replied, "Then I’ll punish myself! It must be because I didn’t carry you properly that you lost your balance and fell. That would be my fault."
Renee: "..."
She quickly said, "Alright, you can let me down now."
"You’re not riding anymore?" Rory asked.
Renee: "Yeah, I can walk on my own."
Only then did Rory lie down to let her off.
"Huh? Is Sol not here?" Renee looked around and noticed one tiger was missing.
"Sol went to find his wife," Fero explained.
Renee blinked. Remembering Sol’s previous lovesickness, she couldn’t help but smile. "Then Sol must be very happy now."
"We don’t know," Niner said, shaking his head. "None of us have been in touch with him."
"Wait a minute, let me ask." Renee took out her phone and dialed Evan Griffin’s number. "Director Griffin, did Sol go to Lynfell Zoo?"
"Yes," Evan Griffin said with a laugh. "Didn’t we say before that he really wanted to see his girlfriend? I arranged for him to be transferred to Lynfell."
Renee: "So, is Sol doing well now?"
"He’s grinning from ear to ear every day, following his girlfriend around. You have no idea how happy he is." Evan Griffin added, "Consultant Jennings, you can search for videos from Lynfell Wildlife Park online. They have clips of Sol’s daily life."
