Chapter 272: Making the Three Wives Fall Head Over Heels
Chapter 272: Chapter 272: Making the Three Wives Fall Head Over Heels
It took a monumental effort, but Renee Jennings finally managed to style Thunderbolt’s straight-cut bangs until every hair was standing on end.
She wiped her greasy hands with a wet wipe, massaging her arm as she admired her work. She nodded in satisfaction. "This is much more handsome."
"Am I more handsome now?" Thunderbolt exclaimed excitedly. "Is there a way for me to see myself?"
He usually looked at his reflection on the surface of the pool, but Blaze was probably there now, splashing around with the six lionesses. He didn’t want to go anywhere near there.
"Sure." Renee pulled out her phone, opened the camera to selfie mode, and held the screen in front of Thunderbolt. "Take a look."
The phone screen was a bit small, but Thunderbolt’s eyesight was excellent, and he could see himself clearly on it.
Those ugly, straight-cut bangs were really gone!
Thunderbolt’s eyes lit up instantly. He lifted a massive paw and pointed at the phone screen, calling out joyfully, "Human, you really did make me more handsome!"
"Call me Renee," Renee said, exasperated. "Calling me ’human’ is so formal."
Thunderbolt immediately corrected himself. "Renee, you’re amazing!"
Overjoyed, he leaned in with his enormous head to nuzzle Renee.
Since it was his first time being this close to a human, Thunderbolt didn’t hold back, knocking Renee to the ground with one bump of his head.
He didn’t even seem to notice. He just kept nuzzling Renee as she sat on the grass, his coarse mane scratching her arm until it turned red.
Renee was speechless.
She sighed helplessly to herself.
’Is this guy trying to thank me or get revenge?’
"Okay, okay," Renee quickly stopped him. "Stop nuzzling, you’ll scrape my skin."
Thunderbolt stopped, asking in confusion, "Scrape your skin?"
It was an accident, and Renee didn’t plan on holding it against him. First, she wanted to be a magnanimous person. Second, she didn’t dare argue with a lion.
"It’s nothing." Renee waved her hand, pushing herself up from the grass. "Your hairstyle makeover is complete. The next step is to win your three wives back."
"Right." At the mention of his three runaway wives, the previously cheerful Thunderbolt grew despondent again. "I feel like that’s the real challenge. It’s much harder than changing my hairstyle!"
But Renee didn’t see it that way.
She crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Thunderbolt, do you want your wives to be unable to look away the moment they see you?"
"Of course I do!" Thunderbolt said. "But they’re completely mesmerized by that shameless Blaze. They don’t even see me anymore."
"Do you trust me?" Renee asked.
Thunderbolt’s yellowish-brown eyes stared intently at her, and he nodded seriously. "Of course I trust you!"
He truly did trust Renee. Besides, he didn’t have any better options at the moment.
"In that case, would you mind putting these hair accessories in your mane?" Renee retrieved a shopping bag from the tour cart. It was filled with colorful hair accessories and ornaments that she had bought on the side when she and Carol Morgan went out to buy hair wax earlier.
Thunderbolt craned his neck to look inside the shopping bag and frowned. "What are these?"
"Things that will attract your three wives." Renee guessed that the lionesses probably had a sense of beauty, too.
Thunderbolt was bewildered. "Really? You’re not tricking me, are you?"
"Didn’t you just say you trusted me?" Renee feigned anger. "If you don’t really trust me, then forget it. I’m leaving. You can fend for yourself."
Seeing her turn to leave, Thunderbolt scrambled to block her path with his massive body. "Renee, don’t be angry! It’s not that I don’t trust you, I just don’t believe these things can win back my three wives."
"How will you know if you don’t try?" Renee said earnestly. "You’ve already lost your wives. What else do you have to lose?"
"You’re right," Thunderbolt said, his tone firm. "I have nothing now. There’s nothing more I can lose."
Renee nodded in agreement. "Now you can really go for broke."
"Go for broke..." Thunderbolt murmured the three words, thinking they sounded cool. His eyes shone as he looked at Renee. "Renee, you humans are so clever. I feel like I can learn so much from you!"
"Oh, really?" Renee raised her eyebrows slightly. "So, do you prefer this red bow, or this black-and-white polka-dot one? Or maybe you should wear both?"
Thunderbolt had trouble choosing. "Renee, I’ll listen to you. I’ll wear whichever one you tell me to."
"Good," Renee said, very satisfied with his answer. "Then I’ll choose for you. I guarantee I’ll have your three wives falling head over heels for you."
Thunderbolt was ecstatic. "Okay! That would be fantastic!"
Renee beckoned to him. "Lie down, then."
The lion, holder of the title "King of the Savannah," was like a well-behaved housecat, lying down obediently before her.
Carol Morgan watched this scene from the tour cart, his heart filled with both envy and admiration.
’If only I had Renee’s kind of superpower...’
Renee set the shopping bag on the grass and picked out a pearl-style hair clip, fastening it to Thunderbolt’s mane.
The once majestic and imposing lion suddenly looked quite elegant.
The corners of Renee’s lips curved up slightly as she continued to fiddle with his mane.
Before long, Thunderbolt’s mane was laden with colorful, sparkling hair accessories.
"Wow, the lion’s so pretty now!"
"Oh my god, how could that lion agree to this?"
"Other people get to pet cats, but she’s over here petting a lion! I’m so jealous, the word doesn’t even cover it anymore..."
Renee took out her phone and snapped a few pictures of the adorably goofy Thunderbolt. Then she asked politely, "Can I take a picture with you?"
Although he didn’t quite understand what that meant, Thunderbolt felt this human certainly wouldn’t harm him, so he nodded without really getting the situation.
Renee quickly took the selfie and turned to instruct Thunderbolt, "Remember, no matter what Blaze says to you in a little while, just ignore him. Your mission now is to attract your wives and get them to come back to you."
"I know." Thunderbolt nodded his big head vigorously. "I’ll just treat that pain-in-the-mane, Blaze, like he’s thin air! Heh heh!"
"You have to keep your cool," Renee said, still a bit worried. "Don’t let Blaze provoke you with his words and end up hiding and crying like you did this morning."
"I won’t, I won’t!" Thunderbolt said, a little ashamed. "I won’t do that again."
"Alright then." Renee reached out and petted his body. "Go on," she said with a smile. "I’ll wait for you in the cart. Call me if you need help."
Thunderbolt: "Okay, I’m off then?"
"Go get ’em." As soon as the words left Renee’s mouth, she saw him crouch slightly, tensing all his muscles, before launching forward like a golden phantom.
She returned to the tour cart, and Carol Morgan quickly handed her a pack of wet wipes. "That was incredible work, Consultant Jennings."
"Not at all," Renee said, wiping her hands. Her face, lightly beaded with sweat, broke into a smile. "I actually enjoyed it."
Faye Wyatt grabbed a bottle of mineral water, twisted off the cap, and handed it to her, saying with a wide smile, "Babe, you’re seriously amazing."
