The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 232: That Dog Always Snatches My Bag

Chapter 232: Chapter 232: That Dog Always Snatches My Bag

When Renee Jennings saw WorryFree’s comment, she felt a pang of sympathy for her and said softly, "Vance, things will get better."

[Thank you, host! Thank you, everyone!]

Lucas, who had also watched the stream that morning, spoke up, "Girls, don’t think I’m just saying this in hindsight, but if my partner hadn’t believed me earlier, I was fully prepared to divorce him."

[Thank god. Your husband restored my faith in love.]

[Finally, a man with a good head on his shoulders!]

[Your husband’s a good one. How’d you train him? Girl, you should write a book!]

Lucas laughed. "Honestly, he has plenty of bad habits. They just don’t cross my lines, so I let them slide."

She was in a great mood, happily chatting away, when there was a sudden knock on her door.

Her intuition told her it was her mother-in-law. Her husband usually just came in without knocking.

Lucas lowered her voice. "I think my mother-in-law is here."

Renee raised an eyebrow slightly. "Don’t tell me your mother-in-law is here to apologize?"

[Host, you’re being naive. Let me tell you, that’s impossible!]

[I’ve been alive for forty years and I’ve never seen a mother-in-law apologize to her daughter-in-law.]

Lucas blinked. "Okay, I’m going to open the door now. Should I put my phone to the side?"

Renee: "Okay."

Lucas found a good angle to set down her phone, then got up to open the door. Sure enough, her mother-in-law was standing in the doorway.

"Mom, what is it?" she asked.

Her mother-in-law looked embarrassed. She glanced at her, then lowered her head. "Yuki, Ian just had a talk with me. I’ve been reflecting, and I realize I was in the wrong about this."

Lucas raised her eyebrow almost imperceptibly.

Her mother-in-law looked up at her, her tone apologetic. "Yuki, I’m truly sorry. I won’t interfere with you raising your dog anymore. I hope you can forgive me."

"Mom." Lucas knew that for her mother-in-law to apologize, her husband must have given her a talking-to.

She didn’t want to put her husband in a difficult position between them, so she said softly, "I’m glad you’ve come to understand. We’re family. We can always talk things out and discuss them. Besides, Maya is really important to me. When she suddenly disappeared, I was so worried."

The mother-in-law sighed. "I’m sorry. I’ll go get Maya and bring her back tomorrow."

Lucas nodded. "Thank you, Mom."

"Well, I won’t disturb your rest then."

"Goodnight, Mom."

Lucas closed the door and picked up her phone to find the chat exploding.

[Can someone record this and send it to my mother-in-law?]

[Even though it was awful of the mother-in-law to sell Maya, her apology was sincere, and she promised to get her back. She’s not so bad now.]

[I bet Lucas’s husband had a talk with the mother-in-law.]

[How do I ’accidentally’ let my husband see this video?]

Lucas smiled. "To be honest, I didn’t expect my mother-in-law to apologize either."

Worried that if she kept talking, viewers would accuse her of showing off, she quickly ended the call and sent a "Shining Firework" gift worth 999 yuan.

Renee glanced at the time. It was already 11:30. "It seems to be getting a little late."

[Late? The night is just getting started~]

[Shut your mouth! Don’t say another word!]

[The host is so young, she probably doesn’t go to bed this early.]

Renee smiled. "I made plans with my sister for tomorrow. I’m going with her to pick out a car, and I’m afraid I won’t wake up if I stay up too late."

[The host is going car shopping? Come to our dealership! We’ll give you a killer discount!]

[The host has a sister? I really want to see what she looks like!]

[Come to our dealership! I’m the boss, I’ll give you a buy-one-get-one-free deal!]

[A ’buy one, get one free’ deal is definitely a trick. It’s probably buy one car, get some small car accessory for free.]

[LMAO, I once misread an online ad for "Buy 1, Get 1" as "Buy 1, Get 1 Free." Sellers are such comedians.]

[Hahaha, I bought socks that said ’buy one, get ten.’ I thought it was ten pairs, but I received ten socks. What kind of monster sells socks individually?]

Renee chuckled at the viewers’ comments. "It’s all just marketing wordplay."

The viewers were still enthusiastically sharing their own stories of being duped. After a moment’s thought, Renee said softly, "Alright, I’ll connect with one last person, and then I’ll end the stream."

[It has to be me this time!]

[If you connect with me, I swear I’ll throw a three-day feast at the village entrance!]

Just then, a girl wearing a red baseball cap appeared on the split screen. She had a mole the size of a period between her eyebrows and was wearing wired earbuds in both ears.

Renee glanced at her ID and greeted her with a smile, "Hello, Little Red."

Little Red was walking through the dim night, and she waved at the screen with a wide smile. "Hello, host! I’m so happy you picked me! When I get rich, I’m going to throw a three-day feast at the village entrance, too!"

"Alright," Renee played along. "In that case, can you invite me to the feast?"

Hearing this, Little Red’s smile grew even wider. "Of course! Host, it would be my honor if you’d grace me with your presence."

Renee glanced at the background behind her and asked curiously, "Are you walking outside?"

"Yeah," Little Red said. "I just got off work and left the subway station."

"Why so late?"

"I work at a cake shop. This month it’s my turn to work the late shift. Next month I’ll get off earlier."

Renee nodded. "Be careful walking alone at night."

Seeing that she had earbuds in both ears, she couldn’t help but add, "And you shouldn’t wear earbuds in both ears."

[I was just about to say that! You can’t hear your surroundings with both of them in!]

[Yeah, I never dare to wear both earbuds when I’m walking. I’m afraid someone might be following me.]

[So everyone’s the same. I thought I was the only one who thought that way.]

Little Red heard Renee, glanced at the chat, and took out one earbud with a smile. "It should be fine. I’ve walked this road many times. It’s very safe."

"That’s good, then." Renee asked, "Do you have any pets at home?"

Little Red shook her head, her tone a little sheepish. "Uh, no. I just clicked randomly, I didn’t think I’d actually get connected..."

"That’s okay." Renee looked at the background on Little Red’s screen and said softly, "Then let’s just chat for a bit. We can disconnect after you get home."

Little Red froze for a few seconds. Realizing why Renee had said that, a warm feeling suddenly spread through her heart. She said in a low voice, "Thank you."

"What are you thanking me for?" Renee raised an eyebrow slightly.

Little Red’s eyes grew hot. "I just... thank you."

After saying that, she suddenly remembered something. "Oh, right! There’s a convenience store downstairs from my apartment that has a dog. For the past few nights, whenever I walk by, the dog always snatches my bag and runs ahead, waiting for me to chase it."

"Or it’ll nudge me from behind. At first, it always scared me, but then I realized it was just trying to play with me."

The corners of Little Red’s mouth turned up slightly. "It’ll probably try to play with me like that again in a bit. You all can watch."
