Renee Jennings smiled and said, "He’s telling you he doesn’t bite."
WorryFree let out a soft sigh of relief and mustered the courage to pat the small black dog’s head.
The small black dog’s tail wagged even more happily.
WorryFree slowly overcame her fear and whispered, "Shadow, there’s something I need your help with. Is that okay?"
The small black dog barked twice. "Sure, but am I really that special? To think I can actually help you!"
Renee Jennings translated for her in real-time.
WorryFree said to the small black dog, "I think you can help me."
She disconnected her Bluetooth earbuds and held the phone so it could see the screen. "Shadow, how about you talk to this pretty lady?"
The small black dog blinked its eyes in surprise. "Wow, she really is pretty!"
Renee Jennings chuckled and said softly, "Thank you for the compliment. You’re very cute, too."
"Hehe!" The small black dog gave a silly laugh.
"I have something I’d like to ask you." Renee Jennings got straight to the point.
Curiosity instantly filled the small black dog’s round eyes. "What is it?"
Renee Jennings asked, "Are you at home every day?"
The small black dog replied, "Sometimes if the door is left open, I sneak out to play, hehe!"
"Then have you heard them talk about a lot of gold going missing from the house?" Renee Jennings added, "It was kept on the second floor."
The small black dog tilted its head, seeming to think. "Is it something really valuable?"
"Yes." Renee Jennings thought for a moment, then took out another phone and searched for a picture of gold to show him. "It looks like this. Have you ever seen it?"
The small black dog stared at the picture of gold for a long time.
Renee Jennings didn’t interrupt him, but the viewers in the live stream chat were getting antsy.
[Shadow! Have you seen it?!]
[C’mon, Shadow, don’t just stare! Say something!]

After thinking for about two minutes, the small black dog finally barked. "I’ve seen it!"
Hearing this, Renee Jennings’s eyes lit up, her voice rising slightly. "You’ve seen it?"
When WorryFree heard this, her face instantly lit up with surprise. "Shadow has really seen it?"

The small black dog nodded and barked an explanation. "Yes! Mama goes to look at the shiny things every so often. And the last time Yana came over, she had Mama take them out to show her."
"Yana?" Renee Jennings asked, puzzled. "Vance, do you know who Yana is? Shadow says the last time Yana was here, she had your mother-in-law show her the gold."
WorryFree answered, "Yana is my husband’s sister. Why was she looking at my gold?"
[Don’t tell me his sister stole it?]
[This Yana is definitely involved!]
The small black dog said, "I don’t know. Yana just said she wanted to see it."
Renee Jennings asked again, "Shadow, do you know that the shiny things are missing?"
"Of course I know!" The small black dog glanced toward the house. "Mama often went to look at the shiny things. Then one day, she suddenly realized the shiny things were gone and was so upset she started crying."
Renee Jennings translated this, and an expression of disbelief washed over WorryFree’s face.
"My mother-in-law knew the gold was missing?"
[The mother-in-law knew it was gone but didn’t call the police?]
[She probably found out Yana stole it.]
[Unbelievable. If my mother-in-law pulled something like this, I’d tear her a new one!]
WorryFree’s expression was grim, her tone heavy. "What happened next? Was the gold ever found?"
The small black dog blinked and continued, "They didn’t find it. Papa said a burglar had gotten in and was about to call the police, but Mama stopped him. She said to wait, that she’d make a phone call to ask about it."
Renee Jennings asked, "Do you remember who she called?"
The small black dog replied, "She called Yana! Mama was crying, saying the shiny things were gone. She was crying her eyes out at first, but she stopped after the phone call."
"So, did they report a break-in after that?" Renee Jennings pressed.
The small black dog shook its head back and forth. "Nope!"
Renee Jennings nodded and smiled. "Shadow, thank you for telling us all this."
"You’re welcome~" The small black dog panted, its face a picture of happiness.
WorryFree suppressed the rage boiling up inside her. She raised a hand to pat his head and said weakly, "Thank you, Shadow."
[Shadow: Hehe, you gotta rely on me when it really counts.]
[Shadow: We have a deal. You’re not allowed to be scared of me anymore!]
[Is Vance okay? I’m guessing not...]
[It’s pretty obvious what happened. The sister-in-law stole the gold. Otherwise, the mother-in-law wouldn’t have decided not to call the police right after that phone call.]

WorryFree glanced back, then turned and walked out of the yard.
Seeing this, the small black dog scampered after her on all fours.
WorryFree walked aimlessly, her voice muffled. "I never imagined this would be the truth. They knew. They knew and they didn’t tell me. When I finally found out, they pretended to be so surprised. My mother-in-law even cried last night."
Hearing this, Renee Jennings said calmly, "She was probably crying out of guilt. What are you going to do now?"
"I don’t know." WorryFree noticed the small black dog trailing behind her and slowed her pace. "My mind is a total mess right now. Does anyone have any advice?"

The word "divorce" made WorryFree’s heart tremble. She hesitated. "But what if my husband doesn’t know? Should I still divorce him?"
"Even if your husband doesn’t know, you still need to see how he reacts when he finds out the truth," Renee Jennings said slowly. "If he just tells you to let it go, then I guarantee he will never take your side in any future conflicts with his family."

WorryFree was still hesitant. She frowned. "So what should I do now? If he does know, won’t he just lie and say he doesn’t?"

Renee Jennings said softly, "Vance, take a look at the suggestions in the chat. I think they’re all good ideas."

"You’re welcome," Renee Jennings said. "Do you want to disconnect from the stream to make the call, or should we wait for you?"
WorryFree thought for a moment, then said apologetically, "If you don’t mind, I’ll be bold and take up a little more of everyone’s time. We can talk more after I finish my call."
