The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 142: You Won’t Move After Eating the White Pill

Chapter 142: Chapter 142: You Won’t Move After Eating the White Pill

The next day, Renee Jennings returned to the police station, where she found Coco the Sparrow’s missing friend, Autumn the white stork.

Autumn was deeply moved to learn that Coco had gone to a human for help to save her.

So, after the police released her, Autumn went to find Coco at the first opportunity. She told Coco that from now on, she would be in charge of catching bugs for it to eat.

"Thank you!" Coco the Sparrow chirped gratefully, then added tactfully, "But I have a place to eat now. You don’t need to catch bugs for me."

"Where?" Autumn asked curiously.

"At Renee’s house," Coco the Sparrow said proudly. "There’s always food on her balcony, and it’s much tastier than bugs."

"That’s amazing!" Autumn was incredibly envious. "I want to check out Renee’s house, too."

Renee Jennings was completely unaware of this.

She was driving when she suddenly received a notification from the system.

[System 009: Congratulations on completing the Level 2 hidden mission ’Rescue a Wild Animal.’ You have received the following rewards: Soft-shelled Turtle Dictionary, 100 points, and one million in cash.]

A jolt of joy went through Renee Jennings, and her lips curled into a wide grin.

At a red light, she picked up her phone and messaged Michelle Fuller and Sylvia Brooks, asking them to get a late-night meal together.

After getting their replies, Renee Jennings began to think about what to get her family for dinner.

’Zane and Jasmine seem to like sushi.’

After a moment’s hesitation, she turned the steering wheel and headed in a different direction.

Renee Jennings went to a sushi place with great reviews to get some takeout.

On the way, she called Rhea Dempsey and told her not to make dinner tonight.

When Renee Jennings got home with two large bags of sushi, Zane and Jasmine were already in the living room playing with their toys.

"Auntie!"

"Auntie, you’re back~"

The two little ones greeted her sweetly.

"I’m back." Renee Jennings waved the takeout bags at them. "Guess what’s for dinner?"

Zane and Jasmine stared at the bags, their dark eyes shining.

Jasmine’s eyes lit up. "Sushi!" she exclaimed in her sweet, childish voice.

"Smart girl!" Renee Jennings’s lips curved into a smile. "Are you happy?"

Jasmine dropped her toy and rushed over to her. "So happy!" she said in a soft voice.

Renee Jennings placed the takeout bags on the coffee table and ruffled Jasmine’s hair. "I’m glad you’re happy."

Zane pursed his lips, too shy to rush toward his aunt like his sister had.

"Are you happy, Zane?" Renee Jennings asked softly.

Zane nodded slowly. "I’m happy."

Renee Jennings patted his head too. "Then make sure you eat a lot."

"I will, Auntie," Zane promised solemnly, his dark eyes gazing up at her, feeling incredibly happy.

After they finished the sushi, Renee Jennings chatted with the little ones in the living room for half an hour, then went to change and head out.

They had arranged to meet at a lounge bar.

Michelle Fuller slung an arm around Renee Jennings’s shoulder, grinning. "Renee, did something good happen today?"

"Yup," Renee Jennings nodded. "I won the lottery."

"Whoa! You’re so lucky!" Michelle Fuller exclaimed. "In that case, I’m not holding back tonight!"

Renee Jennings made a grand gesture. "Order whatever you want. Don’t be shy."

With that, she took out her phone and sent a message to Sylvia Brooks: [Sylvia, where are you?]

"Sylvia’s late," Michelle Fuller said, cracking open a pistachio. "We’ll have to make her drink three glasses as a forfeit."

Renee Jennings arched an eyebrow. "And what if Sylvia gets drunk?"

"If she gets drunk, we’ll take her home," Michelle Fuller said with a sly grin. "She can sleep with me tonight."

"Sounds good to me." Sylvia Brooks’s voice came from behind them. "The three of us can sleep together."

Michelle Fuller jumped, clutching her chest in mock-reproach. "Jeez, you walk so quietly!"

"I wasn’t being quiet, it’s just loud in here," Sylvia Brooks explained with a laugh. "I ran into some friends and stopped to chat for a minute. So, three drinks as a penalty, is it?"

As she spoke, she grabbed the red wine bottle and began to pour.

When Michelle saw her down the first glass and immediately start pouring another, she quickly put a hand out to stop her. "Hey, I was kidding! One glass is enough. This wine is expensive; we should be savoring it."

"Are you worried about me or the wine?" Sylvia Brooks asked with a playful arch of her eyebrow.

Michelle Fuller rolled her eyes at her. "The wine, obviously."

Renee Jennings watched her friends banter, a faint, amused smile playing on her lips.

After a while, the live singer took a break, and soothing instrumental music began to play over the speakers.

Renee Jennings was casually munching on pistachios when a strange conversation suddenly reached her ears.

’Look at that male human with the blue hair. Why is he dropping a little white ball into that cup?’

’I know! If you eat that white thing, you can’t move! Yesterday, I saw another male human drop one of those white things in a female human’s cup, and then the female human was like she was dead. She didn’t move at all!’

’It’s that toxic? How terrifying!’

’If one of us mosquitoes ate that, wouldn’t we just drop dead on the spot?’

’Who knows! Some humans are just a total mess!’

’Are mosquitoes talking?’

Renee Jennings’s expression shifted. She slowly turned her head toward the source of the voices.

Several mosquitoes were perched on the flower vase of an empty table, chatting away.

"I’ll be right back," Renee Jennings said to her friends. She approached the table on light feet, trying to keep her voice low enough not to frighten the mosquitoes. "Hello there, mosquitoes. Mind if I join your conversation?"

’Ahh! A human!’

’Danger! Take cover!’

"..."

The mosquitoes buzzed in a panic and scattered, hiding from sight.

Seeing the mosquitoes disappear, Renee Jennings sighed in resignation.

She sat down on a nearby stool, her bright eyes narrowing as she subtly scanned the people around her.

She had just heard the mosquitoes mention a "male human with blue hair."

Renee Jennings scanned the room, and her gaze landed on a booth in the corner.

Sure enough, a man with blue hair was sitting there.

A girl was sitting beside him, and for some reason, Renee Jennings found her vaguely familiar.

The girl must have sensed her gaze, because she looked over.

Renee Jennings saw a look of surprise flash across the girl’s face, quickly followed by delight.

The girl said something to the blue-haired man, then stood up and walked toward her.

Renee Jennings watched the girl sit down across from her. Her tone was familiar as she said, "Renee Jennings, long time no see."

Renee’s fine brows furrowed slightly, her expression puzzled. "Do I know you?"

"You don’t remember me?" A flicker of disappointment crossed the girl’s face, and her eyes held a hint of reproach. "It’s me, Yvette Brooks."

"Yvette Brooks?" The name sounded very familiar.

Renee Jennings wracked her brain for a moment before it clicked. "You’re Evan Shepherd’s girlfriend."

"Wrong," Yvette Brooks corrected. "One of his *ex*-girlfriends."

"Right," Renee Jennings said, sticking her tongue out briefly. "Sorry, my mistake."

"No worries," Yvette Brooks said with a smile. "I never expected to see you here."

Catching the blue-haired man’s sinister glare out of the corner of her eye, Renee Jennings asked softly, "Yvette, is that man with the blue hair your friend?"

Yvette Brooks pursed her lips. "He’s a friend of my bestie’s boyfriend. I don’t really know him."
