The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 140: A Little Mouse is Unfortunately Injured

Chapter 140: Chapter 140: A Little Mouse is Unfortunately Injured

Kyle Morgan and Zachary Conway were exactly what everyone said they were: rich kids with more money than sense.

To avoid arousing suspicion, they forced themselves to eat the wild rabbit.

When they were done eating and ready to pay, Zachary Conway asked Red, "We want an Orienboa. How much is the deposit?"

"Five thousand up front." Red grinned, holding out his payment QR code. "We’ll settle the difference later."

"No problem." Zachary Conway transferred the money and patted Red’s shoulder. "Contact us when you have news."

Red nodded repeatedly. "You got it. What’s your phone number?"

Zachary Conway gave him the number and left with Kyle Morgan.

The little animals stayed at the wild game restaurant to continue their work.

In the back kitchen, a heavyset chef shouted while smoking, "We’re out of meat! Go get some more."

"On it," Blondie answered, grabbing his motorcycle keys and heading out.

Mary the Sparrow, perched on the windowsill, witnessed the scene. "Who’s with me? We’re following Blondie," she called out before flapping her wings and flying away.

Blondie rode his motorcycle toward the mountains.

Mary the Sparrow and her friends followed Blondie, watching as he parked his motorcycle in front of several sheet metal huts.

Blondie got off the bike, hands in his pockets, and walked into one of the huts. "The restaurant’s out of meat. I’m here to pick some up."

"Coming right up," someone answered.

Blondie took out a pack of cigarettes to share. "Anything good come in today?"

The bald man, who was in the middle of butchering an animal, slammed his cleaver into the cutting board. He reached out a blood-stained hand to take the cigarette and frowned. "No. The cops are cracking down too hard. We probably won’t risk going out for the next few days."

"Damn it!" Blondie cursed, taking out a lighter to light it for the bald man. "They’re keeping us from making a living!"

"Tell me about it!" The bald man took a hard drag from the cigarette.

「Meanwhile, at the police station.」

Everyone stared at the monitor, their expressions incredibly grim.

Mary the Sparrow had her friends keep an eye on that spot while she flew to the other sheet metal huts.

The miniature camera she was equipped with recorded everything inside the huts, the shocking footage leaving everyone at the police station aghast.

The hut was filled with all kinds of cages, and inside the cages were all kinds of animals.

"A King Cobra?"

"Is that a Black-faced Spoonbill?"

"And a Black-bellied Sandgrouse! That’s a Class II protected species!"

"I see an owl!"

"And a Whooper Swan!"

"Fuck, they even have monkeys! These scumbags!"

"Most of them are Class II protected species." Henry Stark’s expression was cold, his thin lips barely moving. "Prepare for the arrest."

Levi Hollis’s eyes lit up. ’Another brilliant mark for my record.’

Henry Stark called Kyle Morgan to inform them of the plan.

"Should I go with you?" Renee Jennings asked.

Henry Stark looked at her, gently placing a hand on her shoulder. His voice was warm. "You stay here."

"Got it." Renee Jennings nodded.

Henry Stark led the criminal investigation team out.

Renee Jennings continued to watch the monitor.

Time ticked by, second by second. Finally, a few familiar figures appeared on the monitor feed.

The wildlife traffickers were probably not expecting the police; they were so startled they didn’t react at first.

By the time they thought to resist or flee, it was already too late.

The dark muzzles of guns were aimed at them.

Henry Stark’s sharp gaze swept over the crowd as he said coldly, "Police! Hands in the air!"

The bald man raised his hands and slowly squatted down.

He stared at Henry Stark, his eyes darting to the cleaver beside him.

He shot a look at his accomplice.

The man with a flattop squatting near Henry Stark quietly got up and lunged.

The bald man shot to his feet, grabbed the cleaver, and roared, "I’ll fucking kill you!"

Henry Stark raised his elbow, knocking the man with the flattop unconscious, then kicked the bald man in the stomach.

The bald man staggered back a few steps, then charged again, swinging the cleaver.

Henry Stark’s gaze sharpened, and he fired a shot, hitting the wrist holding the cleaver.

CLANG— The cleaver fell to the ground.

The bald man clutched his wrist, howling in pain. "My hand!"

Levi Hollis rushed over and kicked him in the head, scoffing, "You were asking for a beating, trying to mess with my boss!"

Meanwhile, Kyle Morgan and Zachary Conway, who had left the wild game restaurant, were now on their way back.

Red saw them and greeted them with a grin. "Why are you two handsome gentlemen back? Did you forget something?"

Before Kyle Morgan or Zachary Conway could answer, Red’s phone rang.

He answered it, and his expression changed instantly upon hearing what was said on the other end. He cursed, "Shit, how did they find out!"

With that, he turned to leave.

Kyle Morgan reached out and grabbed his arm. "Where are you going, buddy?"

"Dude, I don’t have time right now. We can talk later." Red frantically tried to break free from his grip.

Zachary Conway smiled faintly. "But we’d like to talk to you a little more."

"Fuck, I already said we’ll talk later!" Red was getting desperate. He raised a fist to punch Kyle Morgan. "Are you deaf or something?"

Kyle Morgan caught Red’s punch, and Zachary Conway took the opportunity to snap a pair of silver handcuffs onto his wrist.

Red felt a cold sensation on his wrist. He looked down, his eyes widening in shock.

He looked up, staring at them in disbelief. "You’re cops?"

"That’s right," Kyle Morgan nodded. "Ready to talk with us now?"

As he finished speaking, a team of police officers in uniform arrived and subdued all the lawbreakers at the wild game restaurant.

Kyle Morgan scanned his surroundings and noticed a small mouse in the corner that had unfortunately been hit by a chair.

His brow furrowed, and he hurried over.

Kyle Morgan set the chair upright and looked at the little mouse. "Are you okay?"

The little mouse let out a weak squeak. "It hurts!"

Kyle Morgan didn’t know what it was saying. He held out his hand to it. "Come with me for now. I’ll call Renee Jennings."

The little mouse recognized Kyle Morgan’s scent and slowly started to move.

Seeing it move so slowly, Kyle Morgan had a bad feeling. ’This is not good.’

He reached out, gently picked it up, placed it in his palm, and quickly walked out of the restaurant.

Kyle Morgan got into his car, placed the little mouse in the storage compartment on the center console, and took out his phone to call Renee Jennings.

As soon as she answered, he said quickly, "Renee, a little mouse got hit by a chair. Quick, ask it how it’s doing."

Hearing this, Renee Jennings’s expression turned serious. "Okay, put it on the phone."

Kyle Morgan turned on the speakerphone and placed the phone next to the little mouse.

"Are you hurt?" Renee Jennings asked worriedly. "Does it hurt?"

Jerry the little mouse whimpered, "Renee, it hurts so bad. Am I going to die?"

"Does it hurt a lot?" Renee Jennings’s brow tightened. "I’m coming to get you now."

Then she said to Kyle Morgan, "Kai, find a safe place for Jerry. I’m coming to take him to a doctor."

"Okay," Kyle Morgan agreed. "I’ll leave him in the car. Just let me know before you get here."
