Chapter 485 - Benign Disease?
Chapter 485: Benign Disease?
Zheng Ren knew what the thorny issue was.
Without the patient’s immediate family members, he could not even sign the critical illness notice.
Boyfriend? Who was he? Someone of his position would not be able to sign any forms at all.
From what Su Yun said, the expenses were most probably being shouldered by her boyfriend alone. Perhaps, he had not slept the whole night and had gone everywhere to raise money.
Zheng Ren shook his head.
“Can you do an interventional surgery for her?” Su Yun probed.
“I think so.” Zheng Ren’s answer was very ambiguous.
This was because he had always been involved in organ interventional therapy and not intervention of blood vessels, heart, and nerves. Therefore, Zheng Ren did not dare to say too much.
However, the Grandmaster-level skill set for interventional surgery was not to be trifled with.
Although he had never done it before, Zheng Ren believed that as long as he entered the System’s operating theater to practice a few times, it would not be a problem for him to perform the simplest interventional surgery for the patent ductus arteriosus.
“Boss, you’re quite impressive. You can perform interventional surgery across disciplines.” Su Yun smiled and continued, “I know, I know. I’ll contact the patient’s parents. Once there’s news, I’ll look for you. But as for the cost…”
“Let me ask.” Zheng Ren also knew that the survival of the young girl might depend on a few thousand yuan worth of interventional equipment.
This was also something that he had no choice but to do.
He took out his phone and dialed.
“Manager Feng, it’s me.
“I have something to ask first. Does Changfeng have any equipment to deal with patent ductus arteriosus?
“Oh, okay. We haven’t decided whether to do it or not. If necessary, can you apply for a waiver from your headquarters? Treat it as a promotion.
“Thank you.” Zheng Ren’s gratitude was quite nonchalant. He then remembered something and said, “Oh right, Manager Feng, you might have to go to the Provincial Capital’s First Affiliated Hospital of Provincial Capital Medical University for TIPS surgery tomorrow and the day after that…”
“Oh, Teacher Gao has contacted you about it already.
“It’s all ready. That’s great. We’ll talk when we meet. ”
After that, Zheng Ren hung up the phone.
Su Yun looked at Zheng Ren with a smile and said, “Boss, you’re using Changfeng as if you’re ordering your own livestock. You’re such a bigshot.”
“It’s just some equipment. It’s no big deal.” Zheng Ren smiled. “Changfeng owes me a favor for being able to get their products into a Capital hospital. This time, he might even be able to get into a Provincial hospital.”
“Tsk, tsk. I thought you didn’t know.”
“I’m not stupid. I’m just too lazy to talk about it.” Zheng Ren turned around to leave. “Go talk to the patient’s family and tell them about the free stuff. After that, give me a call.”
Su Yun was stunned. Zheng Ren really seemed like a hands-off manager now.
However, he had the reason and qualification to do so.
A few thousand dollars worth of equipment. He said that it was free but could still afford to do the surgery. This was his own ability.
“Boss, I want to go to the Provincial Capital with you,” Su Yun said.
“Okay, let’s go together.” Zheng Ren did not care. “However, you have to apply for leave from Chief Physician Pan. It’s one full day, not just one night.”
“Okay.” Su Yun answered in a straightforward manner.
Outside the ICU, Zheng Ren was planning to go to the Provincial Capital to do TIPS surgery. He was particularly interested in the final task.
The super-long surgery training time was the best reward.
He had to hurry up. Every day that he was delayed, he would lose one day of surgery training.
With Zheng Ren’s squirrel-like personality, just thinking about it made his heart ache.
Walking back slowly, Zheng Ren first went to Chief Physician Pan’s office to sit for a while and report on his recent schedule. After that, he returned to the emergency ward.
The sun shone in through the windows and was warm. Zheng Ren sat in a chair for a while and pretended to be reading. He lowered his head and entered the System space.
After completing the [Boundless Love] mission, there was an additional floating console in the System space.
It had a very sci-fi and futuristic feel to it.
Zheng Ren could select periodicals and magazines on the console. After selecting them, a magazine would appear in front of him.
However, the reading materials could not be brought out of the System space. It was different from the lead apron that was rewarded by the mission.
Zheng Ren finally had the time to start looking at various periodicals.
Those with an impact factor of less than 10 were ignored. This was because there were so many that reading them would just be a waste of time.
In the end, Zheng Ren confirmed that there were no future journals.
Although the System did not give Zheng Ren future journals, foreign journals and magazines had been translated into Mandarin for his perusal.
This seemed to be a good way to save lots of time.
Sitting beside the pond in the System space, Zheng Ren happily flipped through the magazines.
Time flew by. After an unknown amount of time, Zheng Ren heard a knock on the door.
He exited the System space and looked up. He saw a man and a woman in their thirties. The man was carrying a bag of films and wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses. He looked quite refined.
“Who are you looking for?”
“Excuse me, is Dr. Zheng here?” the man asked.
“That would be me. You are…”
“I brought my fiancée to the Secondary Hospital. Chief Wang gave me the recommendation to come here,” the man said with a smile.
“Oh, come in then.” Zheng Ren waved his hand while standing up at the same time as he went toward the film reader.
However, the man did not hand the film bag to Zheng Ren. Instead, he took out a folder from the film bag.
“Dr. Zheng, take a look at this. This is the report of all the examinations for my fiancée,” the man said. “Half a month ago during our premarital physical examination, we found that she has a hemangioma in her liver.
“Hemangioma?” Zheng Ren asked.
“They’re messy capillaries that have grown together. It’s a benign disease. I’ve looked it up before. However, my fiancée was very worried, so she went to a specialist hospital to have them take a look.”
Zheng Ren’s heart skipped a beat. He did not say anything. He just took the folder and flipped through it on his own.
“I checked the information and said that it was a hemangioma that was treated with liver surgery twenty years ago. However, the post-surgery trauma was too big. I heard that there are now interventional procedures available.”
“Yes, hemangioma is usually treated once or twice. There are basically no risks of rupture.” Zheng Ren smiled and said, “It’s only a benign disease. If the hemangioma is less than 5cm, you can just observe it over the years. Your fiancée’s hemangioma is now at a critical value, though. Whether you want to do the surgery or not is up to you.”
Zheng Ren looked through all the examinations. The examination report showed that the patient had two hemangiomas in her liver. The major one was 5.1cm, while the minor one was 3.5cm.
One surgery should be enough.
However, the man’s behavior was a little strange. Zheng Ren did not say much, wanting to wait and see what would happen.
“Look, I told you that it’s fine,” the man said to the patient.
The female patient looked to be about 27 or 28 years old. She was slightly chubby, with an adorable-looking face.
She wrinkled her nose and hugged the man’s arm. “I’m still afraid. Listening to you guys makes me feel a little nervous.”
“Then you should stand outside for a bit. Dr. Zheng and I will discuss it. If we can be conservative about it, then we won’t do the surgery for now. However, I think it’s better to do the surgery first. With interventional surgery, it should be fine. Only the femoral artery is punctured with the smallest needle hole, so it won’t leave a scar.”
“Okay.” The female patient nodded obediently. She then looked at Zheng Ren. “Doctor, it’s only benign, right?”
Zheng Ren nodded. Only then did the female patient feel relieved. The man sent her out of the office with a bag of tablets in his hand.
