The Romantic Cultivator

Chapter 297 Battle Of The Expert Cultivators (2)

After Ji Yuan had returned to the battle room, he eagerly inspected his victory spoils; he had plenty of debts to clear and he was eager to find more high grade spirit stones to repay his debts.

But to his disappointment, he found nothing.

He began to curse loudly, “He is actually a pauper! Then why did he wear so beautiful for?!”

But soon began to calm down as he growled softly. “Most of the cultivators will have lost a round or two by the time they have reached the mid-levels or so.”

He estimated that only around 20% of the cultivators would be able to keep their possessions and less than 5% of the 10,000 cultivators would be able to retain their possessions at the end of the trial.

With a soft sigh, he stared at his five wings totem and 19 slaughter points now.

He had five more battles to go before he could overcome this trial.

If he could win all his battles then he would need 10 days more and not 20 days, finishing earlier than the time that was given.

However he preferred to take it easy because he did not want to meet the more difficult opponents plus he had to wait for his beloved maidens to slowly catch up too.

Naturally Ji Yuan did not want to fight them so he had to allow his other opponents to obtain the wings first so he was purposely going slow.

However his masterful plan had a flaw now; his debts would be increasing at each passing day!

Two days later Ji Yuan was back to the battle arena again.

This time round his opponent was a Great Saint from the Barren Celestial Fraternity. He was none other than Tang Yumen from the Air Faction.

Now Tang Yumen was also a top cultivator from the Air Faction and he had been undefeated so far.

Among all the opposing factions, Tang Yumen from the Air Faction, Lin Antian from the Earth Faction and Chu Ren from the Water Faction were all highly dangerous opponents that Ji Yuan was wary of.

Even though Ji Yuan had defeated Chu Ren through his stunning display of profound power but he knew that he had only won because he had caught an unwary Chu Ren with another profound attack when he was least suspecting it.

Now Tang Yumen had also divine harmonized with his divine sword and he was also a master of poisons and secret projectiles.

Yu Jingjing had actually lost very badly after her encounter with Tang Yumen.

And it made Ji Yuan’s blood boiled when he recalled how despicable Tang Yumen had been and he was even trying to rip off Yu Jingjing’s clothing off her.

Although Yu Jingjing was not his girl but she was now his best friend in this trial so naturally Ji Yuan was unhappy to see Tang Yumen.

Xiang Li was asking Ji Yuan, “Big Brother, why are you so upset? I can see your emotions through your soul sea. You look as if he had green you?”

Ji Yuan frowned, “Even though he did not green me but it is still the same as greening me.”

Xiang Li: ???

“Haha. You won’t understand.” Ji Yuan laughed. “Only I can touch Maiden Yu Jingjing, you know.”

Xiang Li giggled. “So he had already green you by touching Maiden Yu.”

Ji Yuan: …

Tang Yumen was smiling as he faced Ji Yuan. “Since we are both expert cultivators, there is no point of fighting to the last man standing. Why don’t we have a draw instead?”

Ji Yuan raised his head and touched his beardless chin, “What if I were to say no?”

Tang Yumen appeared to be surprised but he was soon smiling, “Ji Yuan, you will soon regret your insolence!”

Ji Yuan hummed coldly as he immediately displayed his saintly divine sword causing a minuscule shockwave in the vicinity.

Many of the fighters had already stopped fighting and they were saying to each other, “Why don’t we observe their fights first.”

Ji Yuan vs. Tang Yumen!

This was the fight between two of the strongest cultivators in their cohort!

Tang Yumen was the first to make his move as he raised his heaven-step divine sword.

Ji Yuan grinned as he raised his saintly divine sword to meet his opponent.

But all of a sudden Ji Yuan was startled when Tang Yumen had suddenly blinked on top of him with him!

This Tang Yumen was not only a speed cultivator but he seemed to be capable of using a blink profound art that could allow him to vanish and blink instantaneously!

For him to use his special profound art on Ji Yuan, it only means that he considered him as a threat.

There was a thunderous impact as Ji Yuan raised his sword above him to meet Tang Yumen’s onslaughter.

But all of a sudden when both their divine swords had clashed, Tang Yumen’s heaven-step divine sword had transformed into an immortal-step divine sword!

In that instant Ji Yuan was flattened onto the ground as he rolled out of harm’s way in the next instant.

Tang Yumen was grinning as he threw dozens of secret projectiles from his sleeves and each of the needles could cause a mini implosion that could kill any golden supremacies!

Everyone was gasping with startled shock at the martial display that was from Tang Yumen as the vicinity over Ji Yuan had exploded into a burst of mushroom debris and thick smog was formed as dozens of secret projectiles exploded simultaneously.

“You’re surely dead by now.” Tang Yumen was grinning.

It was because the speed of his secret projectiles exceeded the reflexes of many of the cultivators here and was extremely difficult to block and moreover Ji Yuan was not a power cultivator. Therefore the explosion would have severely wounded him.

But all of a sudden he appeared to be quite startled when he saw that Ji Yuan had stepped out of the smog with an ugly look but he was nevertheless unharmed.

“What the…” Tang Yumen was startled as he threw another dozen secret projectiles at Ji Yuan.

Although it was only a dozen secret projectiles but this secret projectile of his had a beautiful name and it was called the Red Lotus of Death; it was even faster than the secret projectiles earlier and could even pierce through the golden body of most saints.

But Ji Yuan had simply swung his sword with an eye-popping precision and had deflected all twelve secret projectiles aside!

His speed was even more startling than Tang Yumen’s Red Lotus of Death even though all twelve secret projectiles were spaced to deliver maximum speed and impact, making it impossible for a single cultivator to block it completely.

But Ji Yuan was able to do it.

It was only then that all the cultivators saw that Ji Yuan was no longer a left-hander but a right-hander now.

It seemed to everyone that Ji Yuan’s speed with his sword was many times even faster than when he was wielding his sword on his left hand!

Ji Yuan’s eyes were really sharp and he could even see a needle from a mile away; he was not kidding to the maidens when he had jokingly said to them in the past.

Ji Yuan was seething with rage now because he had an opponent that was throwing explosive poisonous secret projectiles at him and that was an insult to a swordsman like him.

His beloveds were all heaving a soft sign of relief when they saw that Ji Yuan was unscathed.

Everyone was inhaling at the skills that were displayed by both Ji Yuan and Tang Yumen.

However Tang Yumen was soon smiling, “Not bad but do you know that this is a grade nine poison. I’m afraid that even if you are a golden saint, you won’t be able to resist its effect completely. At the very least, even your movements will become slower than usual and you can’t even draw your usual profound strength like normally.”

Ji Yuan indeed could feel the effect of the toxic that was trying to penetrate through to his golden body. At this moment, he was actually using half of his profound strength to resist the poison.𝔫𝒪𝗏𝐞𝑙𝑵𝑒xt.𝑐𝑜𝑀

This poison was extremely powerful and did not require the cultivator to inhale it. It was actually a contact poison and it worked by penetrating through the skin.

This made Ji Yuan even madder than usual because he was fighting against a most despicable opponent.

Many of the cultivators were gasping and cursing Tang Yumen.

Even though many of them know that this was actually the strength of Tang Yumen but many of them could not stand his unorthodox ways of fighting.

Many were shaking their heads now because Tang Yumen had the upper hand since the very start while Ji Yuan was still on the defensive.

But Tang Yumen simply did not care about what they thought of him and he was saying now, “Ji Yuan, let me send you to your maker in the next instant.”

With that he had leapt forward and had suddenly vanished in mid-air!

In that very instant Tang Yumen had suddenly blinked from behind Ji Yuan to deliver a deadly strike on Ji Yuan’s head, intending to behead him in the next instant!

But that next instant did not come at all because there was a piercing bolt of light as Ji Yuan combined all his profound strength and life force energies to deliver a piecing burst of light that was behind him; in that instant Tang Yumen’s heart had exploded by a piercing backward thrust that was from Ji Yuan’s divine sword.

Tang Yumen stared in disbelief at Ji Yuan, “How did you…”

His profound art was not a purely speed profound art so it was impossible for Ji Yuan’s eyes to follow him. Rather it was an instantaneous teleportation that could blend the laws of time and space to allow him to appear at the back of his opponent to deliver a fatal strike.

Ji Yuan swung his divine sword again as he beheaded Tang Yumen.

“One, I just realize that I can use my life force energies to burn away the effects of your poisons.”

“Second, in all the cultivation stories, all the MCs always have a cheat that can allow them to teleport to the back of a superior foe to allow them to slay opponents that are many cultivation realms higher. Therefore I’ve already known that you will do this.”

“The third is the most important of all why your profound art does not work against me. When you have appeared behind me, the air behind me has moved all of a sudden even before you have appeared. Therefore that is the most important reason why you’re dead of course.”

A cultivator’s profound animus naturally enveloped him and any invisible vibrations would alert him. By the time a cultivator reached the saint level, he would probably have defeated several invisible desolate creatures or opponents that lurked in the dark.

Therefore surprising a high level cultivator was not that easy at all, especially against Ji Yuan who was a veteran in fighting desolate monsters and countless challengers.

Ji Yuan said coolly as he added, “I can only say that years of using underhand means to fight your opponents have made you a second rate fighter. Therefore you’re a dead man even before we’ve fought.”

“Ji Yuan has won…”

“Tang Yumen has lost?!”

“How did it happen? It happens too fast for my eyes to follow…”

Mo Bei was also in the speculator stand and he was suddenly grinning as he stroked his long beard, “Ji Yuan, you have an extra immortal-step divine sword now. It is time for you to repay the Mo Clan now. Hehehe…”
