Chapter 1024: Return To The School

Chapter 1024: Chapter 1024: Return To The School

The two heavily armed men immediately understood the silent order. They rushed forward in a blur, effortlessly pinning the rich young master to the hard stone floor before he could even process what was happening.

"Ahhh! You bastards! Let me go right now!" The rich young master shouted furiously, eating dust as his face was pressed against the ground. "Do you even know who my family is? Do you know who I am?!"

His so-called friends immediately stepped aside, creating plenty of wide, open space between themselves and his flailing body. They made it very clear by the hurried retreats that they wanted absolutely no part in his useless struggle.

"I don’t know, and I don’t care." Jin Huan stated indifferently, completely unfazed by the empty threat. Then, before turning around, he cast one final look back at Bai Xifeng. "Stop getting into trouble every time you set foot in the city."

Bai Xifeng immediately rolled her eyes toward the ceiling. ’Does he seriously think I actively seek out trouble?’ she thought to herself, utterly speechless. However, she kept the sarcastic thought strictly to herself and wisely chose not to say a single word out loud to the security captain.

"Let’s go." Jin Huan ordered, turning on his heel.

His burly subordinates ruthlessly dragged the loudly struggling rich young master away through the front doors. His quiet, terrified friends quickly followed behind them in a neat line, eager to stay on the guards’ good side. Soon enough, the noisy, obnoxious group completely disappeared from the street outside the store.

"So, Junior Sister Bai... you are actually acquainted with Sir Jin?" Pan Biya asked curiously, leaning closer once the coast was clear.

"Not really. We just happened to randomly meet a few times whenever he was in the middle of catching various local troublemakers." Bai Xifeng replied casually, waving her hand dismissively.

"Oh... I see." Pan Biya nodded understandingly and did not press the matter any further, accepting the explanation.

After that brief, chaotic interruption, the two girls finally returned to browsing around the quiet store. They spent the next hour peacefully purchasing several rare herbs and medicinal ingredients they needed. Some of the herbs were specifically for Pan Biya’s ongoing poison research, while others were unique items that Bai Xifeng thought might come in handy for her own projects in the near future.

After finishing up their shopping and paying the grateful storekeeper, they finally stepped out and left the store together.

"Xifeng, we should probably start heading back to the school grounds now. Look, it’s already getting late." Pan Biya said, shielding her eyes as she glanced up at the shifting colours of the sky.

"Yeah." Bai Xifeng nodded in heavy agreement, a sudden weight settling in her stomach as she thought about the ticking clock.

She still had a scheduled class with Ji Yuan later that evening. To be completely honest with herself, she really, desperately wanted to skip the lecture entirely and remain out in the vibrant city for just a while longer.

Unfortunately, the very moment she thought about the terrifying, inevitable consequences of skipping even a single one of Ji Yuan’s mandatory theory or practical classes, all fleeting thoughts of escaping immediately vanished from her mind like smoke. Compared to facing whatever brutal, agonisingly creative punishment Ji Yuan would undoubtedly dream up for her afterwards, attending the tedious class honestly seemed like the much safer, healthier option for her continued survival.

With that sombre thought firmly in mind, the two girls finally wrapped up their day and left the bustling town behind. Once they cleared the main roads, Bai Xifeng raised her hand and channelled a pulse of spiritual energy, summoning Cerberus once again. A mere moment later, the massive three-headed wolf materialised before them in a flash of dark light.

"Cerberus, we are heading back to the school premises at full speed." Bai Xifeng stated clearly.

Understanding the urgency, Cerberus immediately lowered its massive, muscular body close to the ground, allowing the girls to easily climb onto its broad back. Pan Biya wasted no time wrapping her arms tightly around Bai Xifeng’s slender waist, locking her grip. After experiencing Cerberus’s terrifying speed earlier in the afternoon, she had absolutely no intention of being thrown off violently during the return journey.

"Let’s go now!" Bai Xifeng ordered.

The exact moment the command left her mouth, Cerberus shot forward like a lethal bolt of black lightning. The wind howled furiously in their ears as the scenery around them blurred into indistinct streaks of green and brown.

Not long afterwards, they arrived with a sudden halt in front of the school’s grand main gate. After climbing down from Cerberus’s broad back, Bai Xifeng kept her earlier promise and rewarded her contracted beast with several high-grade beast pills from her pouch. Cerberus happily swallowed its well-deserved rewards in one gulp, its tails wagging enthusiastically back and forth. The beast was clearly delighted with the treats.

After that, Bai Xifeng instructed Cerberus to return to rest. The giant wolf obediently disappeared from sight moments later, dissolving back into her beast space. The two girls then walked through the school’s imposing entrance, passing by the guards who did not even bother stopping them.

Halfway through their journey across the sprawling campus, Bai Xifeng suddenly remembered all the various items and herbs Pan Biya had purchased earlier at the marketplace. She immediately reached into her storage rune, pulled everything out in an orderly fashion, and handed the packages over to her companion.

"Senior Sister Pan, here are all your things. I am going to be seriously late for class, so I will head off first!" Bai Xifeng said in a rushed, frantic tone, already bouncing on her heels.
