Chapter 1301 1301: WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THE TWO (III)

THE moment their lips met, his whole body stilled. His heart slammed hard against his ribs, and for a second he forgot how to breathe. Her lips were soft, warmer than he had imagined. Everything else around them disappeared. There was no gate, no motorcycle, no future plans or arguments. Just her. Just this. Every frustrated, aching feeling he had carried for weeks poured into that single point of contact.

Then he felt her stiffen against him. The sudden tension in her body snapped him back to reality. Panic rose in his chest. He had messed up. He was about to pull away, to let go and apologize. But before he could move, her arms came up and wrapped around his neck. She pulled him closer.

When her lips parted slightly, he froze. He didn't know what he was supposed to do next. But his body seemed to know, anyway. His head tilted on its own, angling to the side to press closer, to find more room. Then he felt something soft and warm slide gently into his mouth. It took him a second to understand what it was. Her tongue. The realization sent a shiver straight down his spine. It was strange and nothing he had ever experienced before, but it felt right. It felt like she wanted him just as much as he wanted her.

Luo Jin didn't know how much time passed. It could have been seconds or minutes. When they finally broke apart, both of them were breathing hard, chests rising and falling quickly. He was still trying to catch his breath when he leaned forward and rested his forehead against hers.

"I feel like I should apologize for just... kissing you like that," he said, his voice still uneven. "But I really don't want to. Not even a bit."

"Don't," Su Yuqi whispered. "Because I wanted it too."

"Now I hope you finally understand how I really feel about you," he said. His voice was quiet, but every word came out clear and firm. "You can still leave if you need to. But there's no way I'm letting you cut me off completely. And while you're still here, we go back to how we were. No more avoiding each other. No more weirdness. Do you understand?"

"You sound very bossy," she said, a small smile tugging at her lips.

Luo Jin scoffed. "I have to be. Because if I'm not, you'll just keep filling your head with all these terrible ideas about us. Who knows where that would've ended up? Probably with us separating, that's where."

Su Yuqi went quiet. Then she spoke, her voice so low it was almost a whisper. "What if while I'm gone, you meet someone--"

"Stop with this 'someone' thing already," Luo Jin cut her off. "I'm confident it won't happen. But if, for some crazy reason, it does, I'll call you and tell you straight. I will not be that guy who keeps you hanging on for nothing. And... and if you meet someone, I hope you'll give me the same courtesy."

Just imagining Su Yuqi with some foreigner made his stomach twist into a tight, unpleasant knot. His jaw clenched, and a hot, ugly feeling crawled up his chest. He didn't like it. Not one bit. But he pushed it down. None of that had happened yet. He just hoped it never would.

Su Yuqi chuckled softly. Then she rose on her toes and pressed a quick, light kiss to his lips. "How could I ever think about meeting someone else," she murmured, "when I already know no one else can kiss me the way you just did?"

His heart lurched hard in his chest at her words. He looked at her, and when their eyes met, it was like something pulled them together. Neither of them moved for a second. Then he leaned in, and she rose to meet him halfway.

This time, the kiss was slower, softer. The two of them taking their time to taste each other.

"Ah Jin?" Luo Yan called out when his brother suddenly went quiet and stared off into space with a dopey look on his face. "Are you still there?"

Luo Jin blinked a few times, snapping out of his daze at the sound of his brother's voice. A flush crept up his neck. He gave Luo Yan a sheepish, apologetic smile. "Sorry."

Luo Yan raised a brow. He tried to figure out what had made his brother zone out like that. He replayed his last question in his head. He had asked what agreement Luo Jin and Su Yuqi came to. And then Luo Jin had just... drifted off with that look on his face. He narrowed his eyes on his brother. Something must have happened between them. Something worth daydreaming about.

"Ah Jin," Luo Yan said slowly, a teasing edge creeping into his voice. "Did you and Sister Yuqi... do it?"

Luo Jin's eyes went wide, his face flushing a deep red. "What? No! What are you even talking about?" He sputtered, looking genuinely scandalized. "We just... we only kissed!"

"Oh," Luo Yan said, his grin widening. "So you kissed. Good for you, Ah Jin."

As if realizing he had just walked right into that trap, Luo Jin let out an annoyed huff. "Not cool, Yan."

Luo Yan chuckled softly. "Alright, seriously now. Are you going to tell me what you and Sister Yuqi actually agreed on?"

Luo Jin rubbed the back of his neck, still looking a bit embarrassed. "We're done with the whole avoiding each other thing. We're just going to take it slow now. One step at a time."

"That's the vaguest thing I've ever heard, if I ever heard one," Luo Yan said, a teasing lilt in his voice. "But okay, so... are you guys, like, official now? Boyfriend-girlfriend official?"

"Not really," Luo Jin said, his tone a mix of resignation and amusement. "She's still stuck on that whole 'you're too young to know what you want' thing. So we're on hold, I guess. The deal is, as long as neither of us meets someone we like better, we're exclusive. Just... not officially."

Luo Yan blinked. Then blinked again. He opened his mouth, closed it, then finally managed, "How... modern."
