Chapter 1277: THAT KIND OF LOVE
Chapter 1277: THAT KIND OF LOVE
"SHE... ghosted you?" Luo Wei Tian frowned, confused by the term. "Do you mean she played a trick on you? Like pretending to be a ghost?"
Luo Jin looked at his father and blinked. Then he laughed out loud, a real smile finally appearing on his face for the first time since he realized Su Yuqi was avoiding him. "No, Dad. I mean she's been avoiding me for no reason."
Luo Wei Tian cleared his throat to hide his embarrassment over not knowing the younger generation's slang. "People don't just ignore others for no reason. Are you sure you did nothing that might have upset her?"
"I'm sure, Dad."
Luo Jin had been trying to figure out what he might have done to make Su Yuqi suddenly avoid him. Just as his father said, he didn't believe she would act that way for no reason. That was not like her at all. So the only explanation that made sense was that he had done something to upset her. But no matter how much he thought about it, he could pinpoint nothing he had done wrong.
"If you truly want to be with this girl, then just assume you made a mistake and apologize to her," his father advised.
Luo Jin chuckled at that. "Is that the same approach you used when you were chasing Mom?"
"Well, I don't mean to sound full of myself, but your mother was the one who pursued me," Luo Wei Tian said with a warm smile. "But once we were together, I learned quickly that it's always better to just admit I'm wrong whenever we have a disagreement. It makes the relationship run much more smoothly, believe me."
"So you're saying our partner is always right?" Luo Jin asked, his tone lightly teasing.
"Only if you love them as much as I love your mother," his father replied, matching his playful tone.
Love. Not in the past tense, but still very much in the present. No matter how many years went by, his father's love for his mother stayed just as strong.
Luo Jin wondered if he'd ever find that kind of love. He believed it could be with Su Yuqi. How else could he explain these powerful feelings if they didn't mean something real? But whatever was between them was still new. They'd have plenty of time to work things out and understand them thoroughly in the future.
At least, that was what he thought.

The Shenzhen Sky Tower was the tallest building in the city. Its sleek, modern design stood out against the skyline. The structure was made of glass and steel, reaching high above all other buildings around it. At night, its lights could be seen from far away.
The charity auction was set to take place on the top floor of the tower. Floor to ceiling windows surrounded the entire area. From up there, guests could look out and see the entire city spread out below them. The night sky was clearly visible above, with no other buildings blocking the view.
As soon as Luo Wei Tian and his son entered the event space, several business people approached them. Many looked surprised to see him there, since he rarely attended these kinds of functions. However, their surprise did not stop them from immediately offering warm greetings and compliments.
Luo Jin did not enjoy these formal social exchanges. But as the son of Luo Wei Tian, he had a responsibility to maintain their family's reputation. He knew he couldn't behave rudely in front of these important people. So when someone spoke to him directly, he responded with a polite nod and proper manners.
While he maintained his polite demeanor, Luo Jin scanned the room, searching for any sign of Su Yuqi. His eyes quickly found Uncle Su instead. The older man stood at the center of a large group of people. Many guests had gathered around him, all hoping to get a moment of his time.
Luo Jin looked at the people around Uncle Su but didn't see Su Yuqi anywhere. He also noticed that Ning Feng wasn't with him either. Could it be that they hadn't come to the event after all? Or maybe they were off by themselves somewhere? The idea of them being alone together bothered him more than he'd expected. But he quickly pushed those thoughts aside. He knew he shouldn't jump to conclusions. Since Uncle Su was here, he decided he'd just go and ask him directly.
"Dad, I'll introduce you to Uncle Su," he whispered to his father.
Luo Wei Tian politely excused himself from the group of business people he was speaking with. Luo Jin then led the way through the crowded room toward where Su Cheng Han was standing. They moved carefully between different conversations until they reached the artist's location.
Luo Jin waited for a moment when Uncle Su was between conversations. As soon as he saw an opening, he stepped forward.
"Uncle Su," he called out to get the man's attention.
Su Cheng Han turned when he heard his name. He looked surprised to see Luo Jin standing there. His eyebrows went up for a second as he recognized the young man. Then his expression softened into a warm, welcoming smile.
"Xiao Jin! It's good to see you. What are you doing here?" Su Cheng Han said, his voice full of warm surprise.
Luo Jin wanted to ask about Su Yuqi right away, but he knew that would be inappropriate. It would seem strange and too direct. It would also make it obvious he had only come here to find her. Even though that was the truth, he could not let her father see that was his only reason for attending this event.
"My father received an invitation and brought me along," he explained. "Uncle Su, this is my father, Luo Wei Tian. Dad, this is Mr. Su."
Luo Wei Tian looked at the older man wearing a traditional Tang suit. He appeared to be around the same age as him. While Luo Wei Tian did not follow the art world closely, he certainly recognized the name Su Cheng Han. Since his son clearly had feelings for the man's daughter, he knew it's important to make a positive impression.
