Chapter 3544 - 3544 Untitled
3544 Untitled
Every day, someone would purchase a ticket to the movie’s early screening.
But there was one bad thing about the movies shown during the advance screening—The screen had a normal 3D display.
When Han Zhuofeng was directing this film, he thought that since he had invested so much, he might as well level up and make the film even better.
And so, the entire movie was filmed with IMAX cameras.
If one wanted to see the best visual effects, one should watch the movie in an IMAX cinema.
However, the advance screening was only shown in Han Corporation’s cinema.
The family members of the Han Family had personally invested in Han Zhuofeng’s movie.
The other cinemas were competitors of the Han Corporation.
They didn’t want the Han Family to earn so much money.
In addition, the corporations that owned many of the other cinemas had invested money in the other three films.
No matter the reason, they all hoped that Han Zhuofeng’s movie ‘Dimensions’ would be a flop.
And so, ‘Dimensions’ was only shown exclusively in cinemas owned by the Han Corporation. Through the viewers’ comments and reviews, everyone knew that Han Zhuofeng’s movie was indeed excellent.
The Han Corporation was very cunning.
For the screening that happened once per day, they only showed it in a standard 3D cinema hall.
If the viewers wanted to watch the maximum-coverage IMAX screen, then they would need to watch the movie again.
Not only would this increase the Han Corporation’s profit, but it would also increase the total gross of the movie ‘Dimensions.’
Han Zhuofeng had scolded his brothers and called them cunning businessmen.
Even though the early screening was merely in a regular 3D cinema auditorium, many people still chose to see the movie because the audience reviews were so positive.
They concluded that the film was good after watching it. And so, many of them made the decision to watch it with their significant other or their family and friends for the second or third time when the movie was formally released.
“Sister-in-Law! You are awesome!” Han Zhuofeng was so happy.
In his opinion, he did a terrific job in producing this movie. However, since he had directed this movie, he thought he could be a little biased.
His studio staff members had contributed to the creation of this movie, so they could also be biased.
Han Zhuofeng was worried that his opinion was biased. And so, he felt really scared before the press screening started.
But when the first press screening ended, the media representatives gave good reviews. As a result, Han Zhuofeng felt at ease.
All that remained were the reviews from the public.
The viewers that watched the premier also gave good reviews.
Han Zhuofeng then felt completely at ease.
He then realized that Lu Man’s strategy had essentially generated free publicity for the movie ‘Dimensions.’
Word-of-mouth marketing was truly the most effective form of advertising.
“You made sure that the cinemas owned by the Han Corporation are making money at the box office without utilizing a lot of the budget for marketing. Your approach enabled moviegoers to recommend the films on their own.” Han Zhuofeng gave Lu Man a thumbs up. “Sister-in-Law, you haven’t been working for a while, but you’re like a good sword that never grows old!”
Lu Man rolled her eyes as she scolded, “What do you mean by a good sword that never grows old? I’m not old.”
“Indeed!” Han Zhuoli, who was standing off to the side, reacted angrily and joined Lu Man.
“Yes, yes, yes.” Han Zhuofeng immediately corrected himself, saying, “I’m wrong.”
As of now, Lu Man was his god!
He had to make Lu Man happy.
In fact, if one thought about it, any films that Lu Man had assisted in promoting…
All of those films had incredibly high gross and had never flopped.
“Pay close attention these days. I think the fake reviewers are coming soon,” Lu Man said.
Han Zhuoli immediately said, “I will ask my men to be on guard.”
It was just as Lu Man had expected.
Their competitor did hire a lot of fake reviewers.
Many viewers pretended as though they had watched the movie and posted negative reviews online.
There were people giving very low ratings on Pineapple Net.
It caused the rating on Pineapple Net te to drop from 9.6 to 8.9.
Han Zhuoli immediately ordered his staff to take note of all these account names and investigate the person who hired those fake reviewers.
“Sister-in-Law, who do you think did this?” Han Zhuofeng asked.
“I’m guessing all three competitors took part in this,” answered Lu Man.
“Are they that ruthless?” Han Zhuofeng gasped and said, “I had a good impression of the directors and cast members for those three films. They don’t seem like people who would do such things.”
Especially considering that some of the cast members had won best actor awards. The directors of those films should be at the same level as well.
They were all people who had the power to boost the box office record.
Whether it was the cast members who had won best actor or the director, any one of them could do such a thing.
The viewers were willing to watch the movie in a cinema merely because they had been the ones who produced the film.
People at their level cherish their reputations even more.
“It might not be them. You mustn’t forget that there are investors. Each of the three movies cast actors who can boost the box office record, but the wage of those actors could be between 70 or 80 million to 100 million.”
“This is a low-budget movie. However, the low budget listed here merely refers to the budget for the production of the movie. The cast members’ salaries aren’t included in the budget. In addition, at least two high-ranking actors appeared in each movie. The compensation plus the production and marketing budgets would make up the overall budget.”
“This is how the Han Corporation makes a profit. You should know this well. The film is shown in the cinema, and the earnings are divided up. The expenses of filmmaking and marketing are deducted. Eventually, the investors’ final profit does not even make up a significant amount of the total revenue.”
“If they really wanted to make a profit, they would have to try to boost the box office earnings.” Lu Man said.
“Of the three movies, ‘Lost Detective’, ‘New Years Eve’, and ‘Sky Mechanical City,’ the movie ‘New Year’s Eve’ used most of its budget for the salary of the cast members. This movie is a comedy for families, so it won’t be difficult to break even at the box office. According to my calculations, they would break even if the gross reaches 500 million and would start turning a profit when the box office gross surpasses 500 million,” Lu Man added.
“As a result, there is a lower likelihood that the movie ‘New Year’s Eve’ will hire fake reviewers. The movie ‘Lost Detective,’ on the other hand, is an action comedy movie and would demand a bigger budget. Aside from the salaries of the cast members, the film production costs are also higher. Most importantly, they have two Oscar-winning actors that received high wages that could take up half of the film’s budget.”
“As for the movie ‘Sky Mechanical City,’ this movie is a fantasy comedy. CGI was heavily utilized. You can already see that there is a lot of CGI by watching the teaser. The investors have big hopes for this film and had invested a lot of money in its marketing.”
“Therefore, they will find it harder to understand that this movie will fail. Additionally, I learned from a few paparazzi that the “Sky Mechanical City” production crew is pretty ambitious and hopes to dominate the new year’s box office and become the highest-grossing movie released during this year’s New Year.”
The paparazzi usually get more information than celebrity news media.
“Initially, before your movie came out, ‘Sky Mechanical City’ viewed the movie ‘Lost Detective’ as their rival. Both of them prepared armies of fake reviewers, and they should have started tarnishing each other’s reputation on the release date,” Lu Man said.
“As for the movie ‘New Year’s Eve,’ it was just a heartwarming movie. Although this movie wouldn’t flop, it wouldn’t be extremely popular as well. So for those two other films, the movie ‘New Year’s Eve’ isn’t a worthy rival. It was fated to be third.”
“But then, your movie suddenly appeared. Initially, they didn’t think much about your film since the public kept roasting your film thanks to your inexperience.”
