Many people knew about Lu Li’s Wicked Bead. Even though they hadn’t seen it, they had heard about it.

Master of Palace of Heaven’s Roars and many Family Patriarchs were here in the city. Lu Li was arriving, and his voice came through. He used psychic power to check. Everyone present here was embarrassed and frustrated.

If Lu Li could win and kill or banish Yan Gu and the others from the Heaven Reverse Universe, then all the ones that became their soul slaves would not survive. Those families were destined to be suppressed and even destroyed.

But what could those soul slaves do? When it happened, they had to either surrender or face death. Some Family Patriarchs were regretful. They should not have surrendered that day and should have battled to the death. For one thing, they could receive honor at least. For another, they could protect their families.

Lu Li was here in broad daylight, and his tone was light. He seemed to be secure in the knowledge that he had strong backing. He came to negotiate. Whether he would win or not, as long as he could survive, when Yan Gu and the others left, those Family Patriarchs and their families would be doomed…

Fang Rui was in the crowd at the city north. He could not make the decision and was afraid to send a message to Yan Gu. Fang Rui crushed a jade talisman to notify him.

Yan Gu had been hiding nearby actually, but the subsidiary bodies around him, he had them killed. He Yue did not know where Yan Gu was at exactly. Lu Li used Xuan Energy to increase his voice. Naturally, Yan Gu, who was hiding underground heard it.

Yan Gu resorted to a special means to send a message to Fang Rui. Upon receiving the order, Fang Rui shouted, “Lu Li, the Lord has said that negotiation is possible! But… you have to hand over the Wicked Bead, or else there is nothing to talk about.”

The Wicked Bead was what mattered and nothing else. For Yan Gu, whether the hundreds of millions of people should be killed or not, or whether Lu Li was alive or not, were not important.

When Yan Gu obtained the Wicked Bead after Lu Li gave it up, he would leave. He would go to the Demon-slaying Battleground and then return to the Divine Imperial Universe from the passageway he came from in the Ocean Land of the East.

He could seek revenge later, but when he took the Wicked Bead back and presented it to Yan Tiangang, the latter would be delighted. He would bestow the Yan Family with more divine items. The Yan Family would grow. If Yan Tiangang could give Yan Gu a piece of Divine armor and weapon, then Yan Gu would never be afraid no matter how strong Lu Li was.

Lu Li was in deep thought for the time for one incense stick to burn before he replied, “What if you still want to execute the people here after I hand over the Wicked Bead? How about I give you the Wicked Bead after you all withdrew to the Demon-slaying Battleground? You can come back to the Great Land at any time if you need. What do you think?”

Fang Rui knew that Yan Gu was hiding nearby. Fang Rui needn’t send a message. He waited for Yan Gu’s decision.

Yan Gu sneered. Was Lu Li thinking he was thick-headed? Lu Li was gone for a long time. He must be up to something. Yan Gu would not follow Lu Li’s lead.

It was true that they could enter the Great Land at any time, but they had worked hard to arrive at where they were now. They captured billions of people to threaten Lu Li. Why would Yan Gu give up such an advantage with ease?

Yan Gu thought for a while and sent a message to Fang Rui who relayed his reply, “The Lord says no. He said you must hand over the Wicked Bead, and he promises not to kill any human being. You should know why he is here. Killing those humans is meaningless to him.”

Yan Gu was telling the truth. Lu Li acted as if he did not buy a single word. He asked back, “Promise? What kind of promise? I will not believe him even if he takes an almighty oath. He says he promised not to kill the humans. How many civilians have died during this time? I believe at least tens of millions.”

Yan Gu said nothing. They seemed to have reached an impasse. Lu Li did not trust Yan Gu and vice versa. Yan Gu was afraid that Lu Li was planning some plot to slay them all.

After a while, Yan Gu had Fang Rui sent a message, “You have two options. Either you hand over the Wicked Bead, or… you destroy your Bead of Life. Otherwise, we will execute each and every human being here!”

Yan Gu was a wily old fox. He would never fall for Lu Li’s trap. He believed that since Lu Li came, he would not sit around and see so many civilians die a tragic death.

Lu Li did not reply. He did not say anything. Silence fell all over the place. Not a single soul dared to make a noise. Some kids wanted to cry, but their parents covered up their mouths.

The civilians were on their knees, fearful. They looked at Lu Li with begging eyes, waiting to be saved by their king.

At first, the civilians did not know the reason the higher-ups gathered them here. Once they found out though, they were scared to death. Some tried to run away but was executed on the spot. At least a million had been executed during this time, which scared the civilians out of their wits. Some even fell ill due to fear…

Now, their protector was here. Their life and death were in the hands of Lu Li. If he could not save them, then many believed this place would be their burial ground.

Time moved on. Apart from the civilians, Fang Rui and the other Semi-God Realm warriors were in fear as well. Even Yan Gu was feeling uncertain.

If Lu Li decided to disregard the civilians and put up a desperate fight for the sake for his own safety, then maybe even Yan Gu and the Semi-God Realm warriors would die a horrible death.

It was said that Lu Li was a man of loyalty, but Yan Gu had been a leader for long. He knew that though many leaders claimed to value loyalty and civilians, it was just an act. If Yan Gu or the other leaders in the Yan Family were in Lu Li’s situation, they would not feel much even if billions, let alone hundreds of millions, of civilians, were to be sacrificed. There could be another crowd of low-level civilians after a few decades or hundreds of years…

Which leader did not kill their way up? Which one of them did not have their hands tainted with blood? If such leaders valued feelings, they would have died too many times.

Yan Gu knew Lu Li had strong connections. However, he also knew that Lu Li rarely relied on the Lu Family, and he had achieved today’s success on his own. Yan Gu heard that Lu Li had killed his fair share of people. Would someone like this really care about the life and death of those puny civilians?

After the time for one incense stick to burn, Lu Li finally said something. “Okay, I promise you that I will give you the Wicked Bead first!”

Lu Li’s words almost sent Fang Rui into tears. If Lu Li were up to something grand, Fang Rui believed he would never make it alive even if Yan Gu could.

Yan Gu felt he could put his mind at ease. Inside, he despised Lu Li. A leader compromised because of a bunch of puny civilians? Lu Li was a freak.

“However, I have one condition!”

Lu Li said again with resolve, “When I give you the Wicked Bead, all of you must withdraw, or else I will go out of my way to hunt you down. If I cannot catch up to all of you, I will find my way to the nine universes, and I promise I will wipe out your families.”

Yan Gu turned a blind ear to the latter part of Lu Li’s answer. Yan Gu was confident that he would let Lu Li die a graceless death if he ever dared to come to the Divine Imperial Universe. However, Yan Gu wouldn’t accept immediate withdraw. After all, Lu Li had the Slayer’s blood. They were fast but when Lu Li went after them, something still might go wrong.

Yan Gu thought further and proposed a counter offer which Fang Rui passed on. “The Lord says that we can withdraw. However, there must be one of us in the Cities of Heaven’s Roars, Immortals Inquires, Mystic Armor and Red Lunar respectively. Once they are certain that you are not going after us, and that you will grant them safe passage, they will all leave and will not harm even a single human being.”

Yan Gu was older and wiser. If Lu Li said yes, Yan Gu and the Semi-God Realm warriors would take the Wicked Bead. He would then let the four warriors stay behind in the four cities and only leave when the former had left the Heaven Reverse Universe. In that case, all that Lu Li could go after was the four average Semi-God Realm warriors…
