Chapter 129 - Grandpa’s Pressing Questions
Chapter 129: Grandpa’s Pressing Questions
The golden sun lazily spread out, shining onto the face of people, making one feel incomparably comfortable.
Su Wan placed her mobile phone back into her handbag. She strolled leisurely on the concrete roads between the hills, silently thinking of how to take Jing Yuan back.
Su Yurou and Shen Wei had obviously shown that they were not willing to shift out. Thus, taking back Jing Yuan would not go on smoothly.
Su Wan raised her head and glanced at Jing Yuan, which was now hidden between the trees. She couldn’t help pursing her lips.
Su Wan’s fists closed slightly and she made up her mind.
Jing Yuan was the mansion her parents left and it was a place she grew up in. No matter what, she would not compromise.
If the mother and daughter wished to revolt, then, let them revolt. Who cares?
Just as Su Wan was deep in thought, her mobile phone vibrated and it woke Su Wan up from her thoughts.
Was it Jiang Xuecheng?
Didn’t she just call him? Had he met with some accident on his way…
Not many people knew Su Wan’s mobile number and there were very few who would really contact her.
Hence, every time when Su Wan’s phone rang, the first person she thought of was her husband or Lin Fei’er, her best friend who had just gotten married.
However, Lin Fei’er had been immersed in the joy of marriage recently and rarely spoke to her through the phone.
Su Wan took out the mobile phone from her handbag and when she looked at the number displayed carefully, she was stupefied and nearly dropped her phone.
Su Wan pursed her lips tightly. Her beautiful face suddenly paled and she started breathing hard and fast.
It was her grandfather, Su Heng.
Su Heng had not called her since she returned from abroad. Yesterday, after she created havoc at Su Yurou’s engagement party, Su Heng did not call her as well.
However, now, he was calling her…
It must be because of her wish to take back the ownership of Jing Yuan.
After some mental preparation, Su Wan finally accepted the call.
“Hello, is it Grandfather?”
Su Wan’s voice was calm, without any emotions, but only she knew her hand was trembling slightly.
She had no mercy for people whom she was completely disappointed in, like Su Yurou’s family, but she could not be ruthless towards her grandfather who loved her and had watched her grow up.
“Wan, how could you do this? Yesterday, you ruined Yurou’s engagement party and disappointed me. Today, you even went to Jing Yuan to denounce your aunt and cousin sister. You’re a junior, how could you scratch your aunt’s face?”
When she heard how her grandfather called her to accuse her, she frowned.
What? Was she the one who scratched her aunt’s face?
If not for Shen Wei’s act of throwing the tea cup and chasing her trying to hit her, how could she be disfigured?
Su Wan held onto her phone tightly. She didn’t know if she was feeling heartache or indifference. However, even though it was Su Heng on the other end of the phone, Su Wan did not want to explain or justify further.
In the eye of her prejudiced grandfather, whatever she said would be wrong. To him, she was rebellious and selfish.
That’s right. Everyone was selfish. Why did she have to sacrifice herself for the sake of her uncle’s family?
Was it because she was alone while there were three people in uncle’s family?
Su Wan lowered her beautiful face. Although today’s weather was good, it was as if she had been enveloped by a layer of low atmosphere and there was a sense of coldness.
“Wan, why are you not talking? I’ve taught you to respect the elderly. Is this the way you respect the elderly? Are you ignoring your grandfather?”
Only when one cared would one be hurt. Hence, Su Wan acted as if nothing had happened.
She took a deep breath and forcibly suppressed the anger which was rushing up.
“Grandfather, please don’t beat around the bush. If you have something to say, tell me directly.”
Su Heng had not expected Su Wan to still be so calm with a sense of unspeakable indifference.
What happened to the little girl who had once been extremely obedient?
Su Heng was tongue tied for a while. He wanted to continue reprimanding Su Wan but Su Wan spoke first.
“Grandfather, if it’s about the ownership of shares and Jing Yuan, I’m sorry, it’s non-negotiable.”
Su Wan paused for a while and when she continued speaking, her voice was firm. Even Su Heng could feel Su Wan’s unshakable determination.
“I want Jing Yuan and I won’t compromise on the shares. Grandfather, if you wish to be a lobbyist for uncle’s family, you don’t have to say anymore.”
There was no room for negotiation…
The scene just before Su Wan went abroad appeared in Su Heng’s mind. That year, the little girl who was still innocent, had used the same tone to talk to him.
“Grandfather, I’ll return very quickly. By then, I’ll take on my responsibility and will not let my parents’ hard work go to waste.”
At the thought of Su Wan’s parents who died young, bitterness emerged in Su Heng’s mind.
How could Su Heng not know Su Wan had been aggrieved since her parents left?
He was growing older by the day and had been striving for Sheng Yuan Group all his life. For the sake of the Su family, Su Heng would not allow the Su properties to fall into the hands of the Jiangs.
Back then, the Gu family had promised Su Heng that if Su Yurou and Gu Zihang had a child after their marriage, the child would take the surname of Su and inherit the Su family’s business.
Recalling the promises which were full of deals, Su Heng looked down and swallowed all the weak emotions surging up.
“Wan, do you really want to have a life and death struggle with your family? If you were to take back Jing Yuan, where could your uncle and his family go? Where would I stay then?”
Seeing how aggressive her grandfather was as he described her as someone extremely bad, Su Wan’s fingers trembled and she was almost unable to control her emotions.
However, after a while, her voice was extremely calm and indifferent.
“Uncle’s family has other properties. Grandfather, if you wish, you can still stay at Jing Yuan. Nobody will chase you out.”
The moment her voice died down, she ended the call, not giving Su Heng another chance to continue pressing her.
Su Wan held her mobile phone and crouched. She hid her head between her arms, as if the whole world was collapsing.
The sun in the sky was still gorgeous and the birds were chirping on the trees.
Su Wan’s mobile phone kept vibrating. Without looking at it, Su Wan knew her grandfather wanted to bombard her with reprimands.
Although she had ended the call, her ears were still buzzing with her grandfather’s pressing questions.
She would have to face her grandfather during the shareholders’ meeting of Sheng Yuan Group. Would it be an awkward scene by then?
Suddenly, Su Wan felt tired, really tired. She was weary but she had to continue fighting.
“Wan Wan, what’s wrong?”
A cool and elegant male voice suddenly sounded. Su Wan raised her head and saw a tall figure.
