Chapter 984: Releasing the Seal

“Wait…” Wandering could not help but say something.
Lu Li held Wandering back, shaking his head vigorously to indicate that it was not the time yet and to let Hachi Chan do her thing.
After everyone exited the cave to fight the Drywhisker Kobolds, Wandering then asked, “Don’t you guys think that the princess is pretty suspicious? What if she was trapped in there because of her evil deeds?”
Lu Li was extremely grateful for Wandering; he was a smart guy after all.
“I’ll propose an idea. How about we go and ask Theldurin the Lost about it? The scroll was in his hands during the start of this quest, so he could have a greater understanding around this whole situation,” Lu Li suggested. He had not revealed the truth behind the Princess Myzrael. After all, it was illogical for him to do background research on an NPC who had been trapped in there for ages.
As such, they made their way back to Theldurin the Lost, and told him about everything that had happened thus far.
“What? You want to release Myzrael?” Theldurin yelled in surprise. His face wore an expression of disagreement and shock. This indicated to Lu Li and his party that Theldurin had a big problem with the Princess.
“We haven’t released her. What’s the problem, Uncle? She seems quite pitiful,” Hachi Chan quickly said to avoid misunderstandings.
“Princess Myzrael is a deceiver and a liar and is extremely ruthless. She has been sealed for a long time. Are you sure that you guys saw the princess in the large crystal?” Theldurin asked with an extremely serious expression on his face.
“Yes,” Lu Li answered, then began to describe what Myzrael had said to them. He also mentioned the cracked and fragmented crystal.
“If this situation is as you’ve described it, then we’re in trouble. It looks like the crystal is no longer strong enough to contain her. After all, she has already absorbed a tremendous amount of strength after being sealed for so long,” Theldurin the Lost said, beginning to panic.
According to Theldurin, his ancestors had already began guarding the crystal from generation to generation.
Among the knowledge of the crystal that had been passed down, it was known that if it began to crack, the power of the seal would have started to weaken. It was during these dire times that Myzrael would be able to eventually break the seal and terrorise the Arathi Highlands. If she broken the seal and was freed, the whole land would be desolated.
“Well, what can we do to help? Lu Li asked.
“Hold on. Let us talk about this issue.”
Theldurin then gathered his companions, the Gnome and the Orc, and began to discuss.
“What can this quest reward us with? This is so bothersome,” Wandering asked Lu Li.
They had already spent well over two hours on this quest. Most of their time was spent on running errands around different areas. It was fortunate that this was a game – otherwise, they would have collapsed midway.
“We’ll get something good,” Lu Li reassured him.
“Wow, if the rewards are enough to impress Lu Li, then it’s enough to get my hopes up.”
Her Tears had not found it bothersome at all; there was good equipment to entice them. Furthermore, according to how Dawn’s reward systems worked, the more they did in the quest, the
more they would receive afterwards.
Theldurin the Lost did not let Lu Li and his party wait for too long. He and his companions quickly devised a plan: “Alright. Follow what she says and release her. After she resurfaces, defeat her and retrieve the Eldritch Shackles. After this, place these shackles around the area of the fragments, and seal her again.”
“What if we can’t defeat her? Kitty Likes Meat asked, unable to suppress her curiosity.
“Well, if that happens, then none of you guys will be able to walk out alive,” Theldurin the Lost answered, then continued, “The moment that she resurfaces is when she is at her weakest. It is during that time that you have the best hope on defeating her. Otherwise, she will become even stronger.”
Her weakest point?
This was the key strategy for the quest. Most people had absorbed what the NPC had said. If she was at her weakest, it would mean that this was the period where she would be most easily defeated.
Had they not come back to Theldurin, they would not have realised to kill her right after she resurfaced.
If they had waited for Princess Myzrael’s wrath to blossom, her strength would have already recovered to a point where a normal player would not be able to stand against her. Many underprepared squads had died here because of this.
After this, they returned to Drywhisker Gorge with the intention of killing Drywhisker Kobolds.
Kobolds were spread out over the entire continent of Azeroth. These creatures were known as the lowest of the low, as they were extremely ruthless and stubborn in their way of life to make up for their physical shortcomings. However, it was these qualities that made them successful mercenaries.
The Drywhisker Kobolds had been hired to guard this place, which they had been doing for a long time.
Their levels were not high, but they were not to be underestimated either. These Kobolds had excellent teamwork with each other, and their Weapon-based and Spell-based classes were extremely powerful as well.
Ordinary players would not be able to do this quest.
Fortunately, this was not a Solo quest. Lu Li had gone ahead to stun the healers, after which the rest of the party massacred the rest of the monsters. One wave of monsters usually dropped around one mote of Myzrael, so it only took a few minutes for them to gather what was needed.
The motes of Myzrael were sprinkled over the crystal. This resulted in the already-fragmented crystal to crack even more as sounds began to echo out from within.
It was as if something was trying to break out of the prison.
After a while, the noise died down and the face had once again appeared on the crystal. Myzrael was extremely spent and began to huff and puff while saying, “No, it is not enough. The seal is too powerful. Four Stones of Binding were used to seal me here. The cursed giants…”
Her reaction and constant cursing indicated to the players that she was not a mere human.
“Alright then, what should we do next?” Hachi Chan cautiously asked.
“To break the seal, you must destroy the strongest of the Stones, which is the innermost one. Firstly, you must find the other three keys of the Stones. These Stones are all under the protection of Guardians,” the Princess said. “However, if you are clever or lucky enough, you will be able to find ways to destroy these Guardians.”
The three Guardians were all level 50 Giant Bosses.
