If Marks was lucky, he would have been able to bring Lu Li out of Stealth with a few random arrows. Lu Li knew that he was running out of time too. Once a Thief was caught by a Hunter, he would lose his advantage.
Fortunately, there was a cooldown and duration time for Flare, which gave him a 10 second window.
As soon as the Flare effect ended, Lu Li pounced onto Marks, aiming straight for his head.
He had adopted a totally opposite playstyle in this match.
Previously, when Lu Li fought Elevenless, he played like a dirty rat. Even his fans felt ashamed to cheer for him, but Lu Li was showing another way to fight as a Thief.
His attack angles were sharp, his assault was decisive and his strikes were fluid.
Marks' pet pounced immediately onto Lu Li to bite him. Its job was to protect its master, but there was nothing more it could do besides biting Lu Li.
An average Nightsaber like this one didn't have any control skills.
Marks had tried before to find an exquisite pet that could Stealth and use control skills, but without success. The best he could do right now was to use his Badge.
Once his badge had been used, the first move he took was to pull apart the distance he had with the Thief.
Lu Li was about to chase, but a glow of ice suddenly appeared under his feet and extended upwards towards his torso.
Freezing Trap!
Lu Li didn't even notice that a trap had been set; he had to admit that he had underestimated Marks.
The trap that he had set down was expertly placed.
If it was placed down too early, Lu Li would've dodged it, but if it was too late, it wouldn't have frozen anyone.
Marks adjusted his position and created some distance between himself and Lu Li, who had been frozen. He also ensured that his pet found a suitable spot to attack and was planning to take down Lu Li in one go.
Of course, Lu Li wouldn't let him do as he pleased. While his skills were on a cast time, he activated the special effects on his shoes and instantly appeared behind him.
Marks watched as the ice statue in his vision exploded and the figure within disappeared. He was quick to react and pounced on the floor immediately, then rolled over, jumped up and shot an arrow behind him.
Lu Li was unable to give chase because he found himself in another trap – an Ice Trap. While it didn't freeze as well as the Freezing Trap did, it greatly decreased a player's movement speed.
Lu Li had to helplessly escape with Gale Steps.
He briefly glanced at his own health bar; he hadn't gained anything from this round of engagement. Both parties had lost around 30% of their HP, and had blown some skills.
Seeing as Lu Li had disappeared again, Marks calmly tossed out another Flare.
Dodging Flare was a very basic skill; there was no way Lu Li would make these kinds of mistakes, but this meant that they were both back to square one.
Marks used his group spells to limit Lu Li's survival space, while Lu Li took every single chance to strike from the shadows.
The match was coming to its end, Water Fairy made a judgement call at the request of the analysts.
"Lu Li will probably still win this round, but he won't have a lot of health left either."
Her predictions were right; Marks didn't manage to take Lu Li down, but Lu Li only had 13% health left.
He had consecutively taken down two top gamers, and neither of them were easy targets. Lu Li had never been so tired from playing a game, especially because of his previous one-hour-long battle with Elevenless. His battle with Marks had lasted at least twenty to thirty minutes as well.
The next contestant from Wings of Dawn was Dreaming About Being 13.
He didn't waste his energy on words and flashed forward with a Frost Nova as soon as the match commenced. This immediately froze Lu Li, who had only just entered Stealth.
Everyone could understand his play; a huge round of applause echoed in the air.
To be fair, under good conditions, Lu Li probably wouldn't have let any Mage catch his positioning so easily.
"It's rare for me to be impressed by anyone, but I'm definitely impressed by you," Dreaming About Being 13 said.
"Since you're impressed, you might as well stop attacking me and surrender," Lu Li joked as he activated the special effect on his ring and blocked an Ice Bolt. He only had around a hundred points of health left, but he still tried to deal as much damage as he could.
He had already used all of his survival skills and was near the end.
"To show my respects, I'll send you to the bench as quick as I can. I know your healing accessory is almost off cooldown," Dreaming About Being 13 laughed as flames exploded outwards from him. Lu Li was caught in the flames and lost the match.
Although he lost, no one laughed.
He had already defeated two opponents – Elevenless and Marks – who were top players. No one in Dawn at this current stage could claim that they could take on both of them on consecutively.
Dreaming About Being 13 didn't lose much HP, but those with sharp eyes could tell that his last skill was no ordinary one.
On the surface, it looked a bit like the Warlock spell Hellfire, but he didn't lose health when using it. The skill also did more damage, so clearly, it was a special effect from one of his equips.
Wings of Dawn had been bullied hard.
Dreaming About Being 13 seemed confident, but had used such this effect to prevent any unexpected surprises.
After Lu Li lost, Moonlight came to replace him.
"How unfortunate. I thought we'd be able to see a battle between two top Warriors, but now they've been separated," Analyst Pure White Season lamented.
"Water Fairy, from the match today, what do you think about Berserkers?" Dark Wind asked with a complex expression on his face.
He was a Warrior and had competed in matches before. In almost any game, Warriors were the most popular choice of class. It was hard to imagine seeing a Berserker like Elevenless, who was geared all the way up to his teeth, to be tired out to death like a fool.
"Hmmm... I don't think Berserkers will be influenced in anyway. They'll probably just receive some minor adjustments," Water Fairy rambled; she was clearly focused on the match.
From a class perspective, Mages countered Warriors, especially an Ice Mage like Dreaming About Being 13. Both he and his Water Elemental could cast Frost Nova.
However, the situation on the stage was nothing like what the players had anticipated.
Dreaming About Being 13 was at a massive disadvantage. Moonlight was like a piece of gum, sticking around Dreaming About Being 13 and sidestepping as he attacked.
