Chapter 782: I’ve Been Transformed

The first real Boss, Jammal'an the Prophet, was actually located in The Chosen's Nest.
Jammal'an was a lecturer who spoke endlessly on the stage about how Trolls were the real owners of the continent and that the great Hakkar was bound to return some day.
There were many students below that wouldn't be too happy if their beloved teacher was attacked.
Any student who applauded when their teacher was abused probably wasn't a good student.
These brain-washed students had to be killed – otherwise, they would cause trouble later in the boss fight. Jammal'an was a level 47 Boss with decent strength. Lu Li and the others wouldn't be able to defeat him if other monsters interfered with the fight.
Atal'ai Deathwalker's Spirits would appear from the corpses of the following monsters: Atal'ai High Priest, Atal'ai Corpse Eater and Atal'ai Deathwalker.
They had extremely high damage, to the extent where an average players would easily be overwhelmed.
Lu Li demonstrated this for his comrades and let the spirit touch him when it first appeared. Even he had damage reduction on, it still knocked out 70% of his health bar. If it wasn't for the fact that he had dodged fast enough, he would have died to the second hit.
It was normal for a team to wipe here, even if you knew the guide.
As soon as Lu Li showed everyone the damage of these spirits, they immediately stayed away from it. Even Lu Li himself had nearly died and he was the best among them.
As long as they didn't fall into the trap of the spirits, the monsters here were quite easy to kill. It only took them a few minutes to clear them all out.
As for the Atal'ai Deathwalker's Spirits, they only lasted forapproximately ten seconds. There was no need to pay any attention to them as they would quickly disappear.
What remained was the Boss itself – Jammal'an the Prophet, who fough alongside his follower Ogom the Wretched.
Jammal'an was the current leader of the Atal'ai. This was a cult formed of crazed priests who admired Hakkar. Apparently, one day during his prayers, Jammal'an had received the instructions from Hakkar.
The Atal'ai were to use the blood of Hakkar's enemy, the Green Dragons, to revive him.
From then, Jammal'an and his Undead guardian Ogom the Wretched became determined to kill anyone who tried to stop the return of Hakkar.
As such, in the quests that the players received, this Boss was always a target that had to be slain.
Apparently, Ogom was a childhood buddy of Jammal'an. They had played together as kids, but after they grew up, Ogom died in a battle to protect Jammal'an. Jammal'an was in deep sorrow after and trained hard until he eventually dug Ogom out of the grave and successfully revived him.
Ogom was an Undead and barely had any sense of rationality. He was only an elite monster.
Many times, players would focus on killing Ogom first. This was how most bosses were defeated – you would kill the side monsters first, then attack the boss.
However, if they did that, they were guaranteed to wipe.
After his best friend died, Jammal'an would immediately go into berserk mode, regardless of his HP level. There were barely any teams who would be able to endure the damage.
Lu Li shared the story of Jammal'an and Ogom with everyone else and brought up his theory that they should kill the Boss first. If it wasn't for the fact that quite a few of his teammates were not part of his usual team, he wouldn't even bother to explain.
"Your call, Lu Li. Everyone else, make sure to not kill Ogom by accident," Azure Sea Breeze emphasized.
"The Mind Flayer is about to come. Did you jokes come here to sacrifice yourselves?" Jammal'an the Prophet couldn't seem to predict his future of being slaughtered; he was still full of confidence.
"You want to die, you fool!" Azure Sea Breeze yelled as he smashed his shield into the Boss' face.
Once the aggro was set, everyone swarmed onto the Boss. Jammal'an instantly dropped a few thousand health points, but his total health was above 200,000, so this damage was nothing to him.
Compared to Jammal'an the Prophet, the other six bosses were trivial.
Jammal'an was an Atal'ai Priest, but most of his skills came from the Shaman class, interspersed with a few Mage skills. As such, it wasn't possible for players to classify this Boss based on class.
"Earthgrab Totem." Everyone felt thorns rise below their feet which it tightly bound them.
"Dodge if you can. Look out for the ultimate skills from the boss," Lu Li warned. He knew what the boss was about to do.
He didn't need to dodge anything himself as he had already placed himself away from the team beforehand. Jammal'an the Prophet casted a signature Fire Mage spell where most of the team was standing – Flamestrike.
A gigantic pillar of fire rushed from beneath the ground and burned all those who were in its range.
This was one of the boss' ultimate skills, so its damage was quite high. Many of them were burned with half of their health bars remaining. Some of them who weren't on full health before were left with a sliver of HP remaining.
"Everyone, split up. Machine Bro, look out for everyone's health. Make sure that no one dies to fire damage later," Lu Li quickly instructed.
Everyone one of them paid full attention and began to scatter themselves five-yard apart from each other. This was the classic method for fighting unknown Bosses in dungeons.
Drifting Rain was specifically assigned by Lu Li to focus on the Earthgrab Totems. He destroyed them as soon as they were summoned.
The reason why Flamestrike had burned so many of them was because of their positioning and the totem. Everyone had been wrapped up, so unless they used an escape skill, they would have to endure through the damage.
After assignments were made, the power of Flamestrike was greatly diminished.
The health bar of Jammal'an the Prophet slowly dropped. After reaching around 70%, he suddenly shouted, "Join us."
Lu Li found that he had a mark above his head – Jammal'an's Witchcraft. The description read, "You have been transformed." Besides the description, there was also a time stamp that counted backwards from six seconds.
Lu Li used his movement speed boost and ran away.
"Lu Li, what are you up to?" Azure Sea Breeze was clueless; he felt like Lu Li had gone crazy.
"If I come back later, stay away from me, or find someone to control me. I've been transformed by the Boss."
