139 A Mortal

THE NEXT DAY
Accompanied by Astes and the golden beauty, Virus was currently standing in front of the library when Astes finally opened her mouth, "This is the Normal Disciples' library... let's go inside."
Saying that, she walked inside as the two followed after her.
"How have you been elder?" By the time the two entered, Astes was already greeting the elder behind the counter.
"Hoho... isn't this the genius of the Alchemy Pagoda, Astes? You finally came to register?" The elder who had long white hair with white brows questioned.
"Yes, but before registering me... please register my new junior apprentice-brother." Astes voiced as she directed her gaze at Virus.
"Hoh? Who is this junior?" Looking at Virus, the elder questioned.
"He was just accepted to be my master's disciple yesterday..." She replied respectfully.
"Hooh... so he's that boy who has achieved hundred percent in the Inferior library's knowledge examination just by reading for around a day or two... truly an amazing young man I must say..."
"Oh, so you've heard of him already." Astes voiced surprisedly.
"Of course! I'm a librarian and matters related to the library travels to my ears fast." The elder replied.
"I see."
"Anyway, what's your name and which contest are you interested in, young boy?" The elder once again directed his gaze at Virus as he inquired.
"Others call me Vee here. Please register me to the Martial Contest." Virus replied casually without bothering with anything else.
"You're interested in The Martial Contest huh... interesting, interesting."
"Okay, tell me your current cultivation stage and the level of your cultivation." Taking out a paper from behind the counter, he questioned.
"No cultivation stage... I'm a mortal." Virus replied in a very relaxed manner.
"I see, I see, no cultivation sta... what...WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" He was nodding his head in satisfaction at first as if he was just about to compliment his cultivation stage when his eyes suddenly popped out of their sockets as he yelled in shock.
"I said... I don't have a cultivation stage yet, is there a problem?" Behaving as natural as before, Virus repeated his words.
Seeing his face which was absolutely serious, the elder flinched as he inquired, "Young man, do you have a death wish? Don't you know what you're getting into? You will instantly lose and just humiliate yourself... even worse, you might lose your mortal life!"
Listening to his words of kindness, Virus replied, "Thank you for your concern, but please just register my name if there are no rules stating a mortal can't participate in the contest... as I'm already well aware of the risks and dangers of participating in this Martial Contest."
Listening to him reject his good intentions promptly like his words of advice were entering from one ear just to exit from the other, the elder was honestly a little pissed off as he thought, 'This brat seems to be one of those people who overestimates himself too much...'
But then, shaking his head, he continued thinking, 'Sigh... at least I tried...now he will learn his lesson the hard way, though this experience might be good for him if he's able to preserve his mortal life.'
After that, no longer trying to persuade him in vain, he registered his name and also gave him a piece of wood which was as small as a finger and stated, "This will be like your entrance ticket to the contest, keep it safe until tomorrow."
Receiving the piece of wood from the elder, Virus looked at Astes and notified her, "Apprentice-sister, We will wait outside while you register."
As he was done registering, he saw no point in staying any further, so he walked out of the library with the golden beauty.
A while passed as they waited outside but Astes was still nowhere to be seen, 'She must be busy talking with that elder.'
Then, in order to kill some boredom, he took a look at the piece of wood he had received from the elder.
Examining it, he realized that on one side of the piece of wood, the word 'Martial' was engraved while on the other side the number 'three' was written with black ink.
"Oh, if it isn't the famous number one ranker of the Inferior Disciple Recruitment..." As Virus was lost in the details of the piece of wood, he was suddenly interrupted by two males who had stopped just in front of him and Ella.
"Who are you?" Frowning, Virus inquired.
"Me? I'm Deadter Ilon from the famous Ilon family." With arrogance and pride clear in his voice, Deadter introduced himself.
"No... I mean who are you to talk to me all of a sudden out of nowhere? Do I know you?" Virus questioned with a serious face.
"You!" Deadter was very angry hearing his words to the point of almost losing control as he was about to charge at him.
However, the skinny male beside him hugged Deadter's hand with all his might as he muttered in a low voice, "No... you can't do this big brother, you will be in big trouble! Restrain your anger!"
"I have to teach this bastard a lesson even if I have to be fiercely punished for it, let me go!" He declared in anger as he pushed the skinny male away as he was about to charge at Virus once again.
The golden beauty had already moved in front of Virus as he was ready for the collision by this time.
However, when Deadter was just a couple of steps away from the two, a shout suddenly interrupted his charge, "What do you think you're going to do to my Junior apprentice-brother??!"
The shout made Deadter stop in his track as he and the rest of the people present looked at the source of the voice only to become astounded because it was the famous Astes!
Hearing her words, Deadter's face went a little pale as he stood frozen in front of Virus as he mumbled, "Junior apprentice-brother? He? This bastard... is he close to senior apprentice-sister Astes...no... that can't be..."
"I said! What were you trying to do to my Junior apprentice-brother? And how are you in the normal disciples' section?!" Astes inquired loudly once again.
Hearing those words again, even though he didn't want to, Deadter had no choice but to give up for now and accept the reality in front of him as he replied palely, "It's just a simple misunderstanding Senior apprentice-sister... I didn't know he's close to you... I'm only here to register for tomorrow's Contest... and then I'll leave this section immediately as the rules state."
After that, gazing at the skinny man by his side, he declared, "Let's go."
But then, just as he was passing from beside Virus and Bella, his eyes fell on the piece of wood in Virus' palm which instantly made his eyes shine brightly when he saw the word 'Martial' engraved on it.
'Good... you just made this whole situation much easier for me...' As he thought that, he no longer paid any attention to his surroundings, as he entered the Normal Library with the skinny male walking by his side.
