Chapter 501: Chapter 501: Being Kept (7)
Vera Xavier looked a bit like a gold-digger right then. Nathaniel Nathan chuckled, the corners of his lips turning up slightly. "Not exactly. The gifts are from me, but I used your money. It’s a little romantic quirk between the one who keeps and the one who’s kept. Don’t you get it?"
Vera Xavier: "..."
’She swallowed helplessly. How did I end up with such a perverted husband? Is it too late to return him?’
Nathaniel Nathan continued, "Besides, you’re so rich. It’s just a few pieces of clothing. I’m sure you can afford it."
Vera Xavier didn’t want to talk to him, but he had already pulled her into the bathroom. The bathroom was huge, with a massive, round bathtub inside. He said calmly, "This bathtub looks pretty nice. We can take a bath together tonight."
Vera Xavier glanced at him. His face was devoid of expression, as if he hadn’t been the one who just said those words.
After the bathroom, he led her to the study. The shelves were already filled with all sorts of books. A few elegant orchids sat on the bookshelves, and one cabinet even contained the Four Treasures of the Study.
Vera Xavier felt that she should be safe here, so she forced herself to compliment him. "You’ve been very thoughtful. This study is arranged very well."
"I also think it’s arranged very well. After all, I designed it myself," Nathaniel Nathan said slowly.
Then, he pressed something—she didn’t see what—and the curtains descended. The once-bright study instantly grew dim. Sconces in the corners lit up, casting a soft, yellow light that was the very definition of intimate. The originally elegant and refined study immediately took on a rather suggestive atmosphere.
Vera Xavier froze for a second. He had already walked over to her, and with a swift motion, he lifted her onto the cabinet next to the bookshelf. He immediately pressed his body against hers, positioning himself so he was right up against her.
Vera Xavier’s eyes went wide. He had already spoken, his voice husky, "The reason a study is so wonderful is that it must have a beautiful woman to add to its fragrance. And if it’s going to have a beautiful woman, how can a study be just a study?"
After speaking, he pressed in closer. Vera Xavier was having an internal breakdown. She could only try to shrink back, and then to her astonishment, she discovered that the cabinet, which had looked incredibly solid, somehow split open and slid to both sides.
Caught off guard, she fell backward. She expected to hit the floor and see stars, but instead, she landed among soft bedding. Then, Nathaniel Nathan leaned down and pressed on top of her.
Only then did she realize that the so-called cabinet was actually a bed!
Nathaniel Nathan pinned her down, his lips brushing against hers as he asked, "Now do you understand what ’a beautiful woman to add fragrance to the study’ means?"
’At this point, Vera Xavier wasn’t just having an internal breakdown; she also wanted to start cursing. Damn it, what the hell is going through this bastard’s head?!’
’It was clearly supposed to be an elegant and exquisite study, but he had gone and rigged it with all sorts of mechanisms, making it so sultry and decadent!’
Vera Xavier couldn’t answer his question, so he asked another, "Do you now have a deeper appreciation for the phrase ’books hold a beauty like jade’?"
’Vera Xavier wanted to cry. Young Master Nathan, can we please not interpret the phrase ’books hold a beauty like jade’ so superficially?’
She could only speak against her conscience, "I do. A very deep appreciation."
"There’s an even deeper one," Nathaniel Nathan murmured, then leaned down and kissed her lips.
A deep kiss, a bewildering kiss, a lingering kiss. A thousand words, all contained within this single kiss.
