"Aren’t you going to ask where I got the formulas, or what my plans are for the factory?" Vera couldn’t help but ask. He was being way too agreeable this time. She wasn’t used to it.
Nathaniel said nonchalantly, "I trust your abilities. I’m sure you’ve thought through anything you decide to do. Besides, you’re spending money you earned yourself on this. If it succeeds, great. If it fails, I’ll still be here to provide for you. What is there to ask?"
Vera whimpered softly and snuggled into his arms. "Nathaniel, you’re the best!"
The corner of Nathaniel’s mouth twitched. "Are you just now realizing how great I am?"
Vera giggled and planted a kiss on his face. "Actually, I discovered a long time ago that you’re pretty great whenever you’re not being a pervert!"
"We’ll have to agree to disagree on that. Even if you think I’m being a pervert when I get close to you, you should feel honored." He shot her a sidelong glance and added, "After all, you’re the only one I’m a pervert for."
Vera was speechless.
’So it was all an act. Deep down, he’s just an arrogant pervert!’
Her eyes glinted playfully as she said with a smile, "In that case, I’ll accept Alistair Forrest’s offer tomorrow to become the Forrest Group’s Jade consultant."
"What does your pharmaceutical factory have to do with the Forrest Group?" Nathaniel frowned slightly.
Vera immediately launched into an explanation. "Well, if I’m going to open a pharmaceutical factory, I need a backup plan. If it loses money, I can fall back on my title as the Forrest Group’s chief Jade consultant to earn the money back through Jade speculation. Plus, I want to take the factory international someday. I want the whole world to know about our traditional Chinese medicine. The Forrest Group is in Marinus, which is a great hub for imports and exports, so I’ll definitely need their help down the line."
"Besides, we’re husband and wife. You’re an important public figure with an impeccable background. If I suddenly come up with that much money out of nowhere to start a factory, my wealth could cause unnecessary trouble for you. Of course I need a legitimate-sounding reason for it! The Forrest Group is the perfect cover."
Most of what she said was true. She didn’t know Nathaniel’s exact position, but regardless of his role or the Nathan Family’s high standing in Veridia, a sudden influx of a large amount of money—even if obtained legally—could attract unwanted attention and trouble.
At this point, Nathaniel didn’t know whether he should praise her for being so thorough or turn her over his knee. "So, you were setting me up just now?"
Vera immediately grabbed his hand and wheedled, "I wouldn’t dare set you up, not even if I had ten times the nerve! I was just thinking about the long-term plan, that’s all. Don’t worry. Even if I’m the Forrest Group’s Jade consultant, I won’t give Alistair Forrest a second glance!"

Vera stood on her tiptoes and planted a kiss on his face. "Is this proof enough?"
After she spoke, she stared up at him, her eyes sparkling. Her expression was utterly and irresistibly cute.
