Chapter 384 - Take Matters in Her Own Hands
Chapter 384: Take Matters in Her Own Hands
As soon as the old lady slammed her crutch onto the floor, Qin Man staggered back in fear. Despite this, she held her own. “Who knows whether or not you’ve paid the hospital?”
Grandma Yao pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance. “I don’t care what you think. This is Tangtang’s marriage. Unless she does not want to herself, I suggest you stay out of it. Yao Ran has nothing to do with this marriage!”
“No!”
Yao Yuan sighed, rubbing his forehead. At this point, he didn’t even know how to deal with these people. He waved away the waiter who had just walked in.
It wouldn’t look good if someone were to see them like this.
The waiter nodded, opening the door.
Even then, everyone could hear Qin Man’s words echoing from the room. “This is the Yang Family of Jing City! Why would they want some country bumpkin like Yao Tang? The only one who’s qualified for them is Ranran. I don’t know about you, but I believe that Young Master Yang and Ranranare the perfect match—a match made in heaven!”
At that moment, Cheng Zhou was being escorted by a group of people when he passed by the private they were all in.
Hearing the familiar voices, he couldn’t help but frown.
Yao Tang?
Ranran and Young Master Yang?
Today, he had come into the restaurant with the CEO of another company to discuss a business deal. After this matter was settled, he’d return to Jing City.
He didn’t expect to pass by the private room and overhear their conversation.
With one glance, he spotted Yao Ran’s mother.
If he remembered correctly, ever since the incident, Yao Ran had sent him a couple of messages. However, he had been too busy with business matters that he wasn’t able to read them.
“Young Master Cheng!” The man smiled. “This way please.”
He nodded.
Cheng Zhou tapped Yao Ran’s contact number and saw dozens of messages under her name.
With a small shrug, he deleted her contact number and shoved it into his pocket.
As her family was already arranging a marriage for her, he shouldn’t be talking to her privately. It was best to cut off all contact. He followed the CEO in another direction.
After paying the bill, Yao Ran stood at the corner of the restaurant.
She couldn’t help but furrow her eyebrows as a large group of people came whooshing past them. She wasn’t interested at first, until she heard the words, “Young Master Cheng.”
Could it be Cheng Zhou?
Her ears perked up, and she raced down the corridor. However, there were just too many people that she couldn’t squeeze in between them. Even as they left, she couldn’t see what he looked like.
Inside the private room, Yao Yuan was still speaking,
“Mom, this isn’t a question as to whether or not we’re willing to back off. Our issue is that Yao Tang spent her entire life growing up in a mountain village. She wouldn’t be able to handle the expectations set forth by our families. If the Yang Family knew about this, they wouldn’t want her.”
“I don’t care about that,” she snapped. “This marriage is still rightfully Yao Tang’s. You are not qualified to hand over this agreement to an outsider.”
“We’ve raised Ranran for more than ten years. She’s more like a daughter to us than Yao Tang! Besides, isn’t she my brother’s daughter? Don’t you understand any of this?”
Yao Yuan clenched his fists.
He wasn’t going to let Yao Tang marry his daughter.
Yao Yuan originally thought that the Yang Family had forgotten all about the engagement.
He didn’t expect Ranran to invite Yang Nianover. He also didn’t expect him to agree. This was the chance for the Yao Familyto finally renew their agreement with the Yang Family.
Yao Tang, however, wasn’t in good relations with their family.
She wasn’t as obedient as Ranran.
Regardless of whether or not she was his daughter, he still believed that Yao Ran was the most logical choice.
Qin Man breathed a sigh of relief.
“That’s right. The register clearly states that the marriage has already been decided. The son of the Yang Family must marry our daughter, not the daughter of my brother-in-law. There’s no way to change this.”
