Soon, the black car stopped at the entrance of the Yao Residence. Cheng Yan turned sideways, wondering if he should wake her up or carry her back. “Hm,” he hummed to himself.
Yao Tang had seemed so vigilant, yet she fell asleep in his car. Did that mean that she trusted him?
Pursing his lips, he leaned forward and was just about to push her hair back when his hand was suddenly suspended mid-air. When he looked back, he saw that the girl had already seated up with her eyes wide open.
She didn’t look like she had just woken up.
Seemed like he’s been deceived.
Ha!
Cheng Yan didn’t feel embarrassed at all. Instead, his dark eyes glinted with amusement and interest as he leaned forward at the young woman.
An arrogant smile slipped into his lips. Leaning towards her slowly, he stopped right by her earlobes. Her eyelashes were trembling, and he smirked. It seemed that she was already quite taken with him already. He exhaled, his breath fanning against her neck.
“Careful. Your hand will hurt.”
Every syllable echoed across her ear. There was a hint of teasing in his words.
Any girl would’ve already fallen at his feet.
Even Yao Tang couldn’t help but freeze.
Her heartbeat sped up, and her breath hitched. There was just something about this man that made her brain stop working. What the hell was wrong with her? She took a deep breath.
But that still wasn’t the end.
While Yao Tang felt herself freeze, she still maintained her casualness. A few strands of hair slid down to her face that she conveniently tucked behind her ear. It was just the right angle for her milky white skin to glisten under the moonlight. He could see a small mole on the cartilage of her ear.
“I…”
Cheng Yan froze.
It seemed that the seducer had finally been seduced.
That red mole of hers–he just wanted to lean forward and–
“Ha.” He was knocked out of his thoughts.
“Calm down. It seems you’re too weak after all.”
She managed to say that so triumphantly.
As soon as she had said it, she immediately unbuckled her seat. Under Cheng Yan’s startling gaze, she glanced up. “See ya, or maybe not.”
Calm down?
Cheng Yan stroked his cheek–it was exactly where she had touched him. A small smile slipped into his lips, and he straightened his back. Without another word, the car drove away.
They would meet again. That, he was sure of.
Yao Tang got out of the car. She had only taken two steps into the villa when she had been pulled to the side by a rather brutal force. What the fuck? Her hand curled into a fist as she whirled around.
When she realized that the woman was her mother, she took a step back.
Qin Man was fuming. She didn’t care whether there were maids watching their interaction. She directly grabbed Yao Tang’s wrist and dragged her to the side of the room.
“Where have you been? You better not be associating yourself with those randos!”
Qin Man had seen Yao Tang head out of a black car. She had never seen the logo before, so she didn’t recognize it.
She wasn’t that ignorant when it came to cars. The only cars that she didn’t know were either too cheap or weren’t famous enough to be recognized. She tiled her head up high as she crossed her arms over her chest.
She had always cared about the reputation of the Yao Family. Although she wasn’t close with the girl, she certainly didn’t want her to coexist with these people.
Dragging her into the dining room, she snapped,
“Yao Tang! Where did you go after school?”
“I went to buy a few things.” She shrugged.
Yao Yuan was outraged at her casualness. “Is there anything that you need that we couldn’t have gotten for you? Why did you leave without saying anything? Do you know how worried we were?”
Worried? She cocked up an eyebrow.
It wasn’t until she felt that she was being stared at did she look Qin Man in the eye. “Were we supposed to go home together?”
A guilty look flashed across Qin Man’s face.
When the older woman had heard that Yao Ran passed the assessment to participate in the Youth Olympics, she was so ecstatic. She immediately brought her daughter to the shopping mall, forgetting all about Yao Tang.
She thought that the girl would find her way back, but she didn’t expect that the girl would be gone for two hours!
Afraid that she’d be exposed, Qin Man immediately cut him off, “We’ll let it go this time. Just…next time, hurry home, and don’t wander around outside.”
It wasn’t like there was anything wrong with what she had done.
Yao Tang was her biological daughter. She had gone through hell just to give birth to that girl. All she did was forgot to pick her up–it wasn’t even that big of a deal!
Yao Tang was the one in the wrong for leaving them to worry for hours! Seeing that it was over, the young girl shrugged. “I’ll be going upstairs now.”
“Yao Tang,” Qin Man called. “I don’t expect you to be filial to me–I wasn’t the one who had raised you after all. But I do hope that you don’t drag your sister’s name with you. She has such a promising future; the least you can do is not to ruin it.”
“Your sister’s going to participate at the Youth Olympics soon, and you’re…here. Don’t say I’m biased–it’s just that it’s already been proven that she’s better than you in all of these things. What’s there to be biased about?”
Yao Tang no longer looked at her parents as she headed up the stairs.
