Chapter 146 - Yao TangMust Return Home
Chapter 146: Yao TangMust Return Home
At the Yao Residence.
Yao Yuan andQin Manexchanged glances across the living room and sighed.
“I never imagined that Yao Tangwas such a good dancer,”Yao Yuanremarked.
“It even seems like she has a good relationship with Heavenly King Sheng, that famous pop idol in the entertainment industry.I thought they just happened to work together on that one music video!”
Of course, as the young lady of a family like theirs, it was highly beneficial for Yao Tangto have these kinds of connections with other influential figures.
Coupled with her outstanding looks, she would definitely be able to use her network to the Yao family’s advantage.
Qin Man sniffed and picked up her cup of tea. She wanted to say something, but she wasn’t quite sure how to put it.
“Sister was really beautiful in that video,” Yao Ransuddenly exclaimed, her eyes filled with admiration. “She’s so amazing!”
Qin Man frowned at this, and proceeded to lecture her daughter.
“Stop saying such things, Ranran! You must not be like her, do you understand? Just stick to playing the piano. These vulgar dances are a disgrace. Just look at the clothes she wears in that video; even her waist is exposed!”
She huffed a frustrated sigh before adding, “What kind of respectable madam would want her children to be associated with someone so wild and unreserved?”
When it came to Yao Ran,Qin Manalways spoke kindly, just as a doting mother would. But she was a totally different person wheneverYao Tangwas involved.
Yao Yuan stroked his chin and pondered his options. After a while, he said, “Ranran, why don’t you giveYao Tanga call and ask her to come home? Say that I have something to discuss with her.”
Since Sheng Tingappeared to be quite smitten withYao Tang, then that must mean that the girl still had her charms. She might prove to be useful to theYao familyafter all.
But first, they needed to get Yao Tangto come home.
She was still a daughter of their house, and therefore had a responsibility to uphold the family’s honor. And of the three, Yao Ranwas the best candidate to reach out to the troublesome girl.
“All right, Dad! I’ll do my best and persuade my sister to return home!”
Yao Ran looked eager and determined.
As if to prove her dedication, she took out her phone and made a call there and then.
…
Cheng Yan broughtYao Tangto their usual restaurant.
They sat in a private room and ordered a wide array of dishes. Once the server had left, Yao Tangleaned back against her seat and began scrolling down her phone.
The Shadow League had been getting an impressive influx of business lately. Today alone, they had managed to earn a whopping total of 50 million.
Yao Tang calculated the total revenue so far and tallied them against the expenses they had incurred over the past few days. Something flashed in her eyes, but it was gone in the next second.
She closed the spreadsheet and switched to a gaming app for some entertainment.
“Eat something first,” Cheng Yansaid, pushing a plate of snacks towardYao Tang. “It might take a while to prepare all the food we’ve ordered.”
Seeing that she was already engrossed in her mobile game, he opened a packet of the snacks himself and held up a piece against her mouth.
Without missing a beat, Yao Tanggobbled it up in one bite, her lips brushing lightly againstCheng Yan’s fingers.
The slight contact was like an electric current that shot from his fingertips to his heart.
His gaze darkened as it fell on her soft, plump lips, then lower to her exposed collarbone.
Yao Tang felt his burning stare. She purposely licked her lips without taking her eyes off her phone.
Just then, a caller ID appeared on her screen.
Yao Ran.
Yao Tang didn’t even blink and instantly ended the call.
Cheng Yan sat back and smiled. He took a piece of snack and popped it into his mouth.
Yao Ran made a few more calls after that, butYao Tanghung up on her each time.
Then came another call, this time from Yao Yuan.
Before Yao Tangcould do anything about it, the door burst open, and a pretty server walked in.
“The dishes are ready. May we serve them now?”
“Go ahead,” Cheng Yannodded casually while glancing atYao Tangin the corner of his eye.
“Of course!” The server’s expression turned from the usual vacant smile to one of pleasant surprise. These two customers were exceptionally good-looking.
She ushered the waiters in with the dishes, and as she walked around the table, she stole another glance at the female customer.
The girl had a graceful profile, though her face remained blank. Her slender fingers, however, were moving rapidly on her screen.
On Yao Yuan’s third call,Yao Tangfinally picked up.
“What’s up?”
She spoke in a cool and indifferent voice, her attention already on the plates of food being placed in front of her.
There was a platter of braised sea brass, some stir-fried vegetables, dumplings, and a small pot of braised meat.
The room filled with a tempting aroma, and Yao Tangfound her mouth watering as the last dish arrived.
Cheng Yan nonchalantly tookYao Tang’s bowl and began piling it up with an assortment of food. She picked up her chopsticks and fiddled with them as she waited.
But then Yao Yuanwent and berated her over the phone. “You’re really something, aren’t you? Do you think you’re all capable now that you’ve moved out? How dare you ignore and blockRanran’s number?!”
His voice rang loud in the private room.
Cheng Yan scowled, his wide eyes flashing dangerously.
Yao Tang, on the other hand, was unperturbed. She plucked her bowl from his hands, her chopsticks poised to serve their purpose. “Oh? My bad. I was playing a game on my phone just now.”
She spoke deliberately slow, as if she couldn’t care less about Yao Yuan’s outburst.
Naturally, this infuriated the old man more.
Back at the Yao Residence, Yao Yuanwas so mad that he was breathing heavily. He would have launched into another tirade ifYao Ranhadn’t interfered.
