Chapter 127 - 127 Staying Up Late to Watch a Series
127 Staying Up Late to Watch a Series
“Let me try.” Shi Man stood up and walked to Shi Mu’s side. Under his shocked gaze, she suddenly raised her hand and pressed him down on the chair, knocking his back hard.
Shi Mu couldn’t help but cough violently. The fish bones finally flew out of his throat.
Shi Man retracted her hand and sat back in her seat to eat the fish in small bites, leaving the remaining members of the Shi family looking at each other in disbelief.
Compared to them, Yi Zheng was very calm.
He continued to pick fish bones for Shi Man methodically. He placed pieces of fish on her plate one after another. Only after feeding her did he get up and wash his hands under the tap. He had not eaten much for dinner.
When he came back after washing his hands, Shi Man had already returned to her room to rest.
Shen Xian smiled apologetically at Yi Zheng. After asking him to sit down, she instructed the servant to change a bowl of hot rice for him.
Just now, Yi Zheng was only focused on feeding Shi Man. The rice in his bowl had already turned cold.
“There’s no need to trouble yourself.” Yi Zheng stopped the servant who was about to go to the kitchen to scoop rice again. He picked up his chopsticks and ate the rice in front of him.
Ever since Shi Man left, the dining table had been strangely quiet. After they finished eating and sent Yi Zheng away, Shi Yu came back to his senses and looked at Shi Mu.
He patted Shi Mu’s back to calm him down. “How do you feel? Do you want to see a doctor?”
“I’m fine.” Shi Mu leaned back in his chair weakly and said with a melancholic expression, “My sister was born to be useful. I didn’t expect Manman to know this. If not for her today, my throat would have been cut by fish bones.”
“It’s not that serious.” Shen Xian despised her son for being delicate. After glaring at him, her heart softened and she personally poured him a glass of water to moisten his throat. “But it’s really all thanks to Manman just now.”
Shi Yu nodded in agreement and looked at Shi Mu in confusion. “Aren’t you fine? Why do you still have this half-dead expression?”
“What do you know? I’m embarrassed!” Shi Mu was so dispirited that he almost wanted to find a hole to hide in.
Shi Yu patted his shoulder in amusement and comforted him. “What’s wrong with that? You didn’t cry just now!”
“Are you still my biological brother?” Shi Mu rolled his eyes at him and said angrily, “I actually embarrassed myself in front of Yi Zheng and even asked my sister to save me. How can I still have the face to shout in front of him in the future? I might as well just get choked to death just now!”
“Don’t talk nonsense.” Shen Xian patted his head and chased him back to the room. “Hurry up and go back to sleep. Don’t be crazy here. Be careful that Yi Zheng will come back and laugh his head off when he sees you like this.”
“I’ll go back and adjust my mentality now!” With Shi Mu, no name was more useful than the word “Yi Zheng”.
He bounced up from his chair almost immediately and rushed back to his room to ponder over his life.
Shi Yu looked helplessly at his brother’s fleeing back and shook his head. “When will Xiao Mu grow up?”
As Shen Xian drank the bird’s nest to nourish her skin, she said mockingly, “As long as his brothers are still around, he will probably be so childish for the rest of his life.”
Shi Yu nodded in amusement, agreeing with Shen Xian’s evaluation.
After the mother and son chatted for a while, Shi Yu got up to return to his room to rest. Before he left, he couldn’t help but persuade her, “Mom, watch fewer television dramas. You have to rest more.”
“This is the first period television drama starring your third brother. How can I not watch it?” Shen Xian turned on the television excitedly. After adjusting the channel, she waited for the television drama to begin.
Ever since Shi He became popular, his television dramas had been switched to the evening slot. There were three episodes. In order to catch her son’s television dramas, Shen Xian had to stay up late every time, making Shi Yu’s heart ache.
“Then quickly go back to your room to sleep after you’re done. My father isn’t around today. You can’t stay up until dawn alone because no one is watching over you.” Shi Yu knew his mother’s playful personality very well and couldn’t help but nag.
Sure enough, Shen Xian waved her hand impatiently and asked him to quickly return to his room to rest. “It wasn’t easy for your father to not be around, but now you’re the one who’s nagging at me. Go do your own things. Don’t worry about me.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Shen Xian’s phone suddenly rang. The words “Hubby” on the caller ID made her feel like she had a fishbone stuck in her throat. She immediately lost her aura. After picking up the phone, she pretended to be woken up and muttered, “Hello? Why are you calling so late? I’m already asleep.”
Shi Zhong looked at the clock in silence. As expected, he heard a familiar opening theme of a television drama on the phone. He couldn’t help but sigh. “Honey, you’ve changed. I’ve only been on a business trip for a day, but you’ve already learned to lie to me.”
