Chapter 589 - Cold-blooded Deathsworn
Andre's actions startled Russia's authorities. Initially, when the Nineteenth Dragon attacked Su Tao, they could somewhat guess the identity of the other party despite that the assailant was masked.
At the same time, China also wasn't in the position to put all the blame on Russia. However, since Andre tried to assassinate Su Tao now, it caused the situation to worsen.
Andre was a Russian, and in addition to the attention focused on this matter, it could easily cause the conflict between the two countries to rise once more anytime.
But fortunately, Andre wasn't in possession of weaponry aside from a dagger. After all, there's a drastic difference between assault and murder.
During the interrogation, Andre refused to confess who it was that instructed him to attack Su Tao.
When Kelov heard of this matter, he was genuinely terrified. He never expected that such a ferocious person like Andre would be so easily handled like a docile sheep.
However, Kelov did not know that no one has directed their attention to him since Andre had another identity. Furthermore, since Andre refused to confess, the authorities could only try to analyse his objective from the clues they had.
When Russia's authorities dug deeper into their investigation, they found out that Andre was employed by an international trading company in Saint Petersburg, but that company was just an empty shell. That company's true identity was a mercenary group with a deep and unfathomable background.
Hence, the authorities determined that the mercenary group might have been hired to attack Su Tao.
At this moment, Jackson rushed to Lin Yifu's office in a hurry. The receptionist recognised this gentleman, but he seemed to be in a panic today since his forehead was covered in sweat and he wasn't wearing his blazer.
"I have an emergency and must see Mr. Lin!" Jackson impatiently knocked his finger on the marble table.
Wearing a difficult expression, the receptionist asked, "Mr. Jackson, do you have an appointment?"
Inwardly letting out a sigh, Jackson examined the receptionist's expression and realised that Lin Yifu must have guessed that he would come to seek help, which was why he purposely got the receptionist to obstruct his path.
Andre's matter blew up and even implicated Yan Sun's mercenary base. If no one comes out to negotiate with Russia's authorities, then not only would Andre be sentenced, but the mercenary base would also suffer a heavy blow.
As a middleman, Jackson didn't care about the life and death of Yan Sun. He was only concerned about the job, which the deposit was even paid to Yan Sun. If Yan Sun's mercenary base was destroyed, then wouldn't his commission go down the drain?
"I don't have an appointment, but I believe that I should be able to see him even without an appointment with my relationship with Mr. Lin. Please help me inform him of my arrival." Jackson said as he secretly shoved an envelope to the receptionist.
As a smile flashed past the receptionist's lips, she shrugged. "Alright, I'll help you inform your arrival!"
If it was under ordinary circumstances, the receptionist wouldn't dare to take the envelope. However, her superior instructed that if Jackson tried to bribe her, she could accept the money as a bonus.
Inwardly sighing, Jackson knew that he had to be more flexible at this moment. The other party might be a receptionist, but this matter concerned his ability to quickly meet Lin Yifu.
When the receptionist gave a call to the secretary's office, she explained through the phone that Jackson had an emergency and wanted to meet Mr. Lin right in front of Jackson.
Seeing her attitude, Jackson was extremely satisfied since it was the power of money.
But seeing the embarrassed expression on the receptionist when she finished the call, Jackson felt as if a bucket of water was poured down from his head.
"Mr. Lin is currently receiving an important guest. I tried, but there's nothing I could do." The receptionist bitterly smiled as she returned the envelope.
Feigning a casual smile, Jackson did not take back the envelope but pointed at the reception room outside. "I'll be smoking outside. When Mr. Lin is done meeting his guest, please help me let him know of my arrival."
In the spacious office, Lin Yifu wasn't surprised when he heard that Jackson came to visit. Wearing a cold smile on his lips, he instructed, "Let him wait for half an hour!"
He's free right now without any guests, but he just got to know from a high official in Russia that Andre attacked Su Tao.
At this moment, Lin Yifu was speechless. He never expected that Yan Sun would have a fool as his subordinate. That person actually tried to charge into a fortress by himself?
The reason why Lin Yifu gave the cold shoulder to Jackson was that he wanted the latter to know that even he was in a difficult position with regard to this matter. Even if he's willing to mediate this matter, he would have to pay an enormous price.
After Jackson smoked a few cigarettes in the glass room, the receptionist finally came with a smile. "Mr. Lin is done with his appointment, so I can bring you over now!"
"Thank you!" Jackson sighed as he stood up and straightened his crumpled suit. He instantly changed into another person.
When he entered the office, he saw Lin Yifu standing before the golf machine, brandishing his golf club without even glancing at him.
"Mr. Lin, I believe you should know the purpose of my arrival!" Jackson spoke in a low voice.
Lin Yifu purposely ignored Jackson as he aimed his golf club and waved out a strike, hitting the golf ball to accurately enter the hole. Letting out a breath, he faintly swept his glance at Jackson and asked, "Is it because of that fool?"
Wearing an awkward and bitter smile, Jackson replied, "Mr. Lin, you're currently in cooperation with Yan Sun, and you can't possibly watch him die, right? If a problem arises in this matter, the mission will have to be stopped, and you will have to find another candidate. After all, time waits for no one."
"You know what I hate the most? Being threatened!" Lin Yifu sneered.
All of a sudden, he brandished his golf club and it shot the ball out like a cannon in Jackson's direction. The ball brushed past Jackson's cheeks before it struck the cabinet behind him, creating a hole in the glass.
Hearing the commotion in the office, several black-clothed men rushed in and pointed their guns at Jackson.
Immediately raising his hands, Jackson trembled. "Calm down! This is a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding!"
As Lin Yifu waved his hand, the bodyguards left without uttering a sound and closed the door behind them.
Seeing that Jackson had been terrified by him, the former must know how much power he possessed right now. After hanging the golf club, Lin Yifu sat on the couch and looked at Jackson. "There are many coincidences in this matter. Firstly, the victim who was attacked is currently searching for Yan Sun. Secondly, he is my granddaughter's sweetheart. Truth be told, it's easy to resolve this matter. The reason why Russia's authorities investigated Yan Sun is because they're trying to put up a show for China. If China's side no longer pursues this matter, then this matter can be resolved."
Upon hearing those words, Jackson was dumbfounded. He inwardly cursed Andre for being a fool. Regardless of his backing, just the fact that he dared to harm the sweetheart of Lin Yifu's granddaughter made him deserve to die a hundred times!
Jackson was a smart person. Otherwise, how could he work in this field?
Understanding Lin Yifu's words, he asked, "If Yan Sun agrees to meet his wife, does that mean that this matter can be peacefully resolved?"
"That depends on if he's willing. If he is, then I can try and mediate this matter." Lin Yifu added.
"I'll contact him immediately!" Jackson stood up from the couch.
Taking out his phone on the spot, Jackson gave a call to Yan Sun and explained Lin Yifu's intention.
Yan Sun remained silent for a brief moment before he requested, "I can meet them, but the prerequisite is that they have to release Andre."
Bitterly smiling, Jackson explained, "Andre is currently the focus of attention, and it's not realistic to have him released. At best, we can only prevent your company from being involved and determine that it was Andre's individual action."
"Then, no can do! I have to see Andre or I will definitely not meet them." Yan Sun firmly replied.
Inwardly sighing, this was Jackson's life as a middleman. He had to continually weave through two parties as a middleman to try and help the two parties reach an agreement.
Hence, Jackson conveyed Yan Sun's request to Lin Yifu, to which the latter briefly pondered before he said, "I never expected that he's such a loyal fellow for a fool."
"The reason why Yan Sun's mercenary group can swiftly develop is because his subordinates are all fugitives, and they're willing to give their lives for him. In other words, they're deathsworns that he cultivated." Jackson bitterly smiled.
As a splendour flickered through Lin Yifu's eyes, he responded, "Deathsworns? It can only prove that he's a cold-blooded person."
Life was priceless, and only those that often track life and death could be cold-blooded and make those around them into deathsworns. Those people were just pure killing machines.
When Yan Sun ended the call, perplexion flashed through his eyes before he sighed and gave a call to a woman.
"Agata, I have something that I need your help with!" Yan Sun said in fluent Russian.
"What is it?" Agata glanced at her son, who was standing in the corner. Whenever it's something related to Yan Sun, her son would always be anxious and furious.
"Doll yourself up and meet two people with me." Yan Sun solemnly said with unprecedented sadness.
"Alright!" Agata agreed without any hesitation.
"Remember, you're my wife, and we've already married." Yan Sun added.
"What?" Agata's face blushed as she asked, "Can I know who we are meeting?"
"You don't have to know!" Yan Sun coldly replied and continued, "Because even I do not know them!"
