Chapter 57 - A New Skill
Chapter 57: A New Skill
At noon.
“Next Monday, I’ll be able to enter the training room occupied by the third years; I’m so excited!”
Yang Zhou grinned. The school naturally also had a formal and complete training room, but it was only open to students of the spirit division.
The others could only go in during their pet training class every Monday.
“Oh, I hope that we can all be in the same class next week. I’ll work harder this week.” Jiang Yang sighed and lay down on the table.
“Same here. I’ll work harder to make Little Conch break through to a mid-level servant this week.”
Yang Zhou nodded. “I wonder how many dark horses will emerge in this test.”
“That’s hard to say. Some students have been hiding too deeply, but this time, it’ll be difficult for the likely dark horses to surpass Rouxue and Su Bai.”
Chen Tingting smiled.
“Sigh. Who knows? I hope that we can be in the same class.”
During the class meeting, the head teacher once again talked about next week’s evaluation test and nothing else.
“Let’s go. Where are we training today? I feel that my pet is about to break through.” Yang Zhou ran over after school and placed an arm around his friend’s shoulders.
“I don’t have time; I have to go to the cultivation house and buy some food as well as skills for my cub. You guys go ahead.” Su Bai shook his head.
“Which cultivation house? Shall we accompany you?” asked Jiang Yang.
“Blue Moon, which was opened by Teacher Hou. Do you guys wanna come?” Su Bai smirked at them.
“Are you kidding? Of course… not. You go ahead; we’ll go and play by ourselves.”
At the mention of the English teacher, Yang Zhou was immediately intimidated. Having handed in much English homework, he did not dare to go.
“Yeah, you’d better go by yourself, I didn’t hand in my English homework today.” The androgynous boy also retreated.
“Scaredy-cats.” Su Bai looked at them in disdain. These classmates of his did not learn English very well, so they were avoiding their teacher as much as possible.
“Are you gonna buy a skill jade? I’ll come along as I want to buy one, too,” Chen Rouxue said.
“Okay, let’s go together.” He nodded.
Both parted ways with the others and walked toward where Hou Jie had parked her car.
“The Blue Moon Cultivation House you mentioned previously was opened by Teacher Hou?” asked the girl curiously.
“Yes, you’ll be shocked once you see it.” He smiled.
“I’ve heard the name before, but I didn’t expect it to be opened by our English teacher.”
“I wasn’t aware at first, either and only found out when I bumped into her at the junior trainer exam.
“I also learned that day that our teacher was a trainer major in a university…”
As they talked, they walked to Hou Jie’s black Audi.
“Oh, student Rouxue is here, too.” The lady teacher greeted softly upon seeing her.
“Yes, she wants to buy a skill jade, too, so she’s coming along with us.” Su Bai nodded.
“Teacher, I want to buy a new skill for my Big Demon; is it okay?” Chen Rouxue asked politely.
“Of course. Get in the car; I’ll take you to the store to see my treasured exquisite skills. They were originally intended for some long-term members.”
Hou Jie smiled at them.
“Thank you.”
Su Bai quickly thanked her and got in the car.
Not long after, the three arrived in front of the Blue Moon Cultivation House. Su Bai got out of the car and asked his classmate, “Isn’t it big?”
The girl took a deep breath and stared blankly ahead. “It’s huge, much bigger than it looks in pictures.”
“Haha! Let’s go in.” Their teacher laughed and led them in.
Both youths followed behind and soon came to a lavishly decorated room in the cultivation house.
Under the milky white light, the four walls of the room were full of various lattices. Inside the transparent crystal boxes of these lattices were different kinds of skill jades.
“These are all elementary skill jades of gold, water, water, fire, earth, and other ordinary attributes. The rest are a bit rarer. You can pick any one you like.”
The adult smiled at them.
“Okay.”
The two nodded and went their separate ways to choose a skill jade each.
Su Bai found a place where wood skills were stored. The obvious green grids were used to store primary wood skills, and there were about thirty or so of them. They were all high-quality and very rare skill jades.
He looked around with the cub. Thanks to his mother’s teachings and his pet’s self-study, the cub could understand most of the more common Chinese characters and comprehend the description on the skill jade nameplates.
Among these skills were energy balls, seed machine gun, wooden cage, absorption, blossom, wither, et cẹtera, and all of which were very good wood skills.
After a round, Su Bai chose the three skills, ‘Energy Burst’, ‘Energy Ball’, and ‘Wither’.
Energy Burst was a basic elemental attack skill. It could hit the target and cause explosive, corrosive damage. There was also a chance of reducing the opponent’s wood resistance.
The skill was modified based on energy balls. When condensed, instead of a big energy ball, it would form small energy bullets.
Through continuous blows, explosive corrosive damage would be inflicted upon the target, and after multiple hits, it would cause a paralyzing effect.
However, the energy bullets were difficult to condense and particularly tested the compression of spiritual power. Hence, a slight carelessness could cause injury.
As for Wither, it was a good skill for a shady person. Once hit, the skill had a chance of withering the target’s life by 1% to 50%.
However, the prerequisite for it to hit was the target must be standing still for three seconds; withered leaves had to be underfoot, too, to activate the skill.
The cub chose two skills: Energy Ball and Scarecrow.
Scarecrow was an interesting skill. A stand-in scarecrow would appear following a conjuring. It could resist fatal attacks at critical moments and cause a slowing effect on the target when the scarecrow was destroyed.
However, the disadvantage was that this scarecrow could not just condense based on spiritual power and needed to pierce the target with a golden straw in advance.
“Howl! φ( ̄∇ ̄o)”
The cub looked up at its owner, asking if it could buy both.
Only children would do multiple-choice questions; it wanted both.
“No, we can only buy one, and you’re biting off more than you can chew. Other than the Vine Whip skill, there’s still room for improvement in your other skills. I came here this time mainly to buy you a frontal attack skill.
“Check this one out; the Energy Burst is best for you!”
The youth shook his head and explained.
“Howl! ー( ̄~ ̄)ξ”
The cub walked aside, obviously unhappy, but it did not oppose or throw a fit.
“Teacher, I’m choosing this, the Energy Burst.” Su Bai opened the crystal box and took out the transparent skill jade.
“Oh, good choice; that skill isn’t bad, but it’s a little difficult to train. You can take Purple Jade to the training room for some practice.”
Hou Jie suggested.
“Thank you, teacher. How much for this?” he asked.
“A total of 100,000 yuan. Although it’s a basic skill, its power is comparable to some intermediate skills. I’ll deduct the money from your salary.”
The adult explained.
He nodded in agreement. This price was already lowered by much, since a powerful attack with a high control might even be unavailable for purchase outside; also, it was something that many people vied for.
“Teacher, I’ve chosen Hidden Shadow.” Chen Rouxue brought Big Demon over and showed the adult the black skill jade in her hand.
Hidden Shadow was not an attack skill but rather a defense skill, where a pet could hide in the shadows of an opponent upon its activation. Although it did not have any attack power, it was terrifying when used with other skills.
“Yours isn’t expensive. I bought that skill jade for 70,000 yuan, so I’ll sell it at that price. You can just give the money to your classmate here, and I’ll deduct it from his salary.”
Hou Jie walked over and caressed the girl’s pet.
Su Bai: “…”
The next second, his phone vibrated, and he looked to see that Chen Rouxue had already transferred the money to his Alipay.
