Chapter 115 - Two Types of Monster Wilderness
Chapter 115: Two Types of Monster Wilderness
After two more days, the corruption in the Cannes club became a hot topic.
At this moment, all the team members were gathered in the club’s conference room. Zhao Li and the others were still shocked and could not figure out who had succeeded in reporting the corruption. This person actually managed to send all those people involved into prison.
The reporter was definitely a master who played his cards well. This corruption had not just existed a year or two; in fact, the chain of interest had already become deeply rooted. To succeed in uprooting all of them, he must be a big figure who could cover the sky with one hand.
The entire youth team had benefited from this matter, as the corruption issue on their end had also been dealt with.
Zhao Li, the Gemini twins, and the others eyed one another until their eyes fell on Su Bai. Since the water-fire duo could not possibly have done this, it was most likely done by him.
It was shortly after Su Bai said that he would report it that all these happened.
“Was it you who reported it?” asked Zhao Li with a smile.
“I don’t know; I went to a normal pet center’s complaint window to report it,” replied Su Bai, shrugging.
“Stop pretending. It’s definitely you. We misunderstood you and blamed you before, but you’re really an upright and kind person, not a despicable villain,” Li Xing looked at him with admiration.
“Yes, after our layers of analysis, we’ve already figured it out. You’re the one whose hands cover half the sky.” Li Hai chipped in.
Wang Er and Wang Tao remained silent, but they were already looking at Su Bai with different expressions. Out of all the team members, only he was likely to have reported it.
“It’s really not me. Up to you if you think that it’s me,” he shrugged, saying, “but I’m indeed an upright and kind person.”
The others: “…”
In fact, the water-fire duo had it the worst. They came from a reputable background, which was why Li Kang and his accomplices had not put them on a spot.
However, who knew that someone would uproot that already entrenched force, making them unable to get along with their other teammates?
In fact, the two had already been isolated by everyone else, but they were indeed to blame for choosing to only care for themselves and not their teammates, so it was only reasonable for the others to ignore them now.
Although they had not caused the situation to happen, they had not done anything to rectify it, either.
Soon, a young man and an old man walked into the room with Coach Yu Lingyue. She had a bright smile on her face and was no longer as lifeless as before.
“Hello, everyone! Let me introduce these people next to me. This is Tang Long, and he’ll supervise all the club’s affairs from here on and replace the former director. Everyone, let’s welcome him.”
She introduced the person with a warm smile.
Clap, clap…
Under the enthusiastic applause, Tang Long, who seemed to be in his twenties, smiled and greeted them. “Hello, guys! I’ll be in charge of all the Cannes team’s affairs from here on. Please believe that such things won’t happen again, and everyone’s agreement will be re-signed in a while. Also, the previous contracts will be invalidated.
“In addition, I can assure you that, as long as you win the provincial championship and even the national championship for Cannes, I guarantee that the treatment of everyone will improve tremendously.
“If you want a stable job in the future, I can place you in the pet bureau, pet center, and other government offices. I’m a man of my words. To be honest, my goal here is to cultivate champions. You’ll obtain bonuses, while I’ll obtain a high performance evaluation. It’s a win-win situation for both parties, so you can be rest assured of this.”
Tang Long smiled and finished speaking, his eyes slowly sweeping across the team and finally rested on Su Bai for two seconds. The reason why he felt confident in coming here was this youth, Gao An’s tenth apprentice, who surely had high chances of winning.
Everyone was very happy to hear Tang Long’s words. Compared to Director Liu, this younger and more straightforward man was obviously more popular to them.
“Everyone heard what Director Tang had said! The contracts will be sent to everyone in a while.”
Yu Lingyue smiled. “I’ll be your manager and deputy coach from now on. Beside me is Zhao Kang, everyone’s head coach. He used to be the head coach of Provincial Q’s champion team. Everyone can ask him about the competition or your pets; he’s certainly a good person to go to for knowledge and guidance.”
“Hello, everyone! You’re all welcome to seek me any time in the future,” said Zhao Kong, a middle-aged man with a mustache.
After introducing the two men to everyone in the room, Yu Lingyue took out the revised contracts and handed them out.
“This is for Chen Rouxue. She told me to give this to you so that you can send it to her,” said Yu Lingyue with a smile as she handed the documents to him.
“Okay, I see.” Su Bai nodded.
He opened the new contract, and sure enough, Tang Long did not lie to them. This was a truly just and fair contract, unlike the previous overbearing contract.
The benefits were many times higher, too. First, all regular players like him could receive a monthly subsidy of one million. Furthermore, the club would provide them with medicinal cakes and would even let them bake their own medicinal cake as long as its cost did not exceed 20,000 yuan.
Second, the time each member was allowed to enter the wilderness increased from two months to five months a year.
Just from these benefits, it could be seen that, just as Tang Long said, the higher-ups wanted to cultivate a team which could win the championship.
Seeing these attractive benefits, everyone smiled and signed their respective contracts happily. Zhao Li, the Gemini twins, and the rest occasionally looked at Su Bai and Tang Long. These two were really their benefactors , especially the boy. If he had not overthrown the previous regime, how could this dreamlike place appear?
Even though he refused to admit it, everyone knew it in their hearts.
Pretending that he did not notice their gazes, Su Bai looked at the black card with a six-pointed star symbol. This was the entry permit for the monster wilderness and a status symbol of being a Cannes’ juvenile team member.
He was very satisfied to see this haul, thinking that he had wasted his efforts in competing in the different selection matches.
After talking about some other matters, Yu Lingyue announced with a smile, “Okay, that’s the end of today’s meeting; I hope that everyone will work hard to win the competitions next year.”
“Su Bai, please stay behind. We still have something to say to you,” said Tang Long.
“Oh, okay.” He looked up at the man and nodded.
The others glanced at him, thinking that he was already exposed though he refused to admit it.
“What’s the matter, sir?” asked Su Bai once everyone else left.
“Hello. I just wanna ask if you intend to win the championship?” inquired Tang Long with a smile.
“Of course, I do.” He nodded. Was he not here just to win the championship?
“If you can help me obtain the National City League’s championship trophy, I promise to fulfill a request of yours that’s within my ability.” The newly instated director smiled
“Thank you, but I’m not that confident of winning the tournament. I can only promise you that I’ll work hard,” he replied. He did not dare to make such big promises, since the game was not an individual play.
“It’s alright. You can just agree to it,” said Tang Long.
“Okay, then.”
Su Bai nodded and turned to leave.
After leaving the meeting room, he opened his contract book and released the cub.
“Howl! (๑oั╰╯oั๑)”
Ah Bai, where are we going?
Purple Jade surveyed its surroundings curiously and coiled its tail on him.
“We’re going to the monster wilderness.”
He waved the card in his hand.
“Howl!”
Don’t worry; I’ll protect you since I’m so powerful now.
The cub held its head high, proud that it was only a step away from becoming a mid-level warlord.
Su Bai laughed. “I believe in you, buddy.”
He moved to set out for the Chinese Redbud area where the entrance to the monster wilderness was with his pet.
However, before he took two steps, Zhao Li and the others smilingly rushed forward. “Hey, are you going to the monster wilderness? We’re about to go over to look as well; how about we head there together?”
“Okay, we can go in together. I’m going to the insect ruins, though.” Su Bai glanced at them, surprised that Zhao Li had such good relationships with women. This guy had actually invited all three girls in the team other than Chen Rouxue to go on an adventure together; it was a personal talent of his.
“The insect ruins? That’s a dangerous place to go; it’s better for us rookies not go there. I suggest that you don’t go, either,” said Li Hai. She had heard of the insect ruins before.
“Huh, why would you go to a place where there’s an infestation of those d*mn bugs? Isn’t it better to go on an adventure with us three beautiful girls?” said Li Xing. She felt goosebumps at the thought of the ruins infested with all kinds of bugs.
“I’m not interested; I don’t want to bring along a bunch of rookies, either.” He glanced sideways at her.
“You… You talk as if you’re not a rookie. Don’t call me for help when you’re in trouble later!” She gritted teeth.
“Ditto. Don’t tell me to come over and save you guys.” Su Bai shrugged and ignored the younger of the twin sisters.
“Stop arguing and let’s go first. We can just remain in contact in the monster wilderness to meet again after Su Bai finishes his work.” Zhao Li quickly mediated to prevent any potential altercation.
“Yes, I already called a rental bird over. Let’s talk on the way.” Wang Li also persuaded the sisters.
Wang Li was a girl with a thunder-attribute Thunder Fish. She scored tenth place in the assessment this time. Her dress style leaned toward vintage and classic, making her look very fresh and elegant.
Their group walked over to the gate of the club, and a large six-winged Flying Basilisk flew down with a woman on its back.
“Did you call the flying service? Is the tail number 6523?” The woman glanced at them, surprised to meet the team members.
“Yes, we did. We’re heading to the Chinese Redbud area.” Wang Li nodded.
“Then come on up.” She smiled.
The five nodded and sat on the Flying Basilisk in sequence. Since this flying mount was really long, they did not need to squeeze in together and could sit regardless of the order.
“Are you guys heading to the monster wilderness?” The woman sitting in front let the six-winged Flying Basilisk set up a shield and led everyone into the air.
“Yeah,” replied Zhao Li. They continued chatting on the way.
“Zhao Li, you’re shameless!” Li Xing suddenly shouted.
Looking up, Su Bai saw that the other boy had quietly wrapped his arms around Wang Li’s waist like a cunt. Li Xing was hugging her older sister, while he was hugging his pet.
“Shameless.” He also cursed.
Wang Li immediately scooted to the front shyly.
Zhao Li: “…”
“That’s enough. Why can’t I hug my girlfriend?” he demanded indignantly.
“We don’t wanna see it,” retorted Li Hai.
Zhao Li: “…” You guys are just terribly jealous.
“By the way, do you guys want to form a hunting team? Not only can we hunt monsters, we can also take on missions in exchange for some points while we exchange some treasures on the way.”
Li Hai hugged back her sister and turned to ask.
“I’m okay with the idea.”
“I already have a hunting team, so I can’t join others,” replied Su Bai with a yawn.
“Did you create it yourself?” asked Li Hai.
“Of course, Ruoxue and I created it,” he answered.
“How about we join yours, instead? This way, we won’t have to make a trip to the Hunter’s Union to register.” She pressed on.
Joining a hunting team could be done through phone.
“I’m fine with it; you can ask Rouxue and see if she agrees,” said Su Bai. It was good to have more people in their hunting team, and they could also quickly raise the team’s level by completing missions. Only then would they have the opportunity to exchange some rare treasures and receive some advanced missions.
“I asked in the group chat; Sister Rouxue said that it’s fine,” said Zhao Li shortly afterward.
“Okay, then.”
Su Bai nodded and asked the four to apply for their inclusion to the team. After this was done, he let Zhao Li take the deputy captain position so that they could collect missions, submit them, and exchange items without his help.
Soon, they arrived at Chinese Redbud. The six-winged Flying Basilisk took their group to the entrance to the monster wilderness.
There were actually two types of monster wilderness: One was an area with spatial cracks isolated and sealed by the Spirit Alliance, which only professional Pet Tamers were eligible to enter due to extreme levels of danger.
The other was an area with a relatively ordinary and less dangerous space crack. It covered a vast piece of land which could be explored. However, it was not yet fully integrated with Blue Planet’s main space, so it was difficult to enter. Generally, it could only be entered after a full integration.
Actually, the Spirit Alliance could create spatial tunnels for people to explore with the use of powerful pets.
Many of the second type of monster wilderness had already been integrated fully into the main Blue Planet over the past ten decades.
The Chinese Redbud Wilderness belonged to the second category of wilderness and did not have a high degree of danger. People like them could still obtain temporary permits to enter and explore such wilderness.
It was said that, if it had not been for the delay in the eradication of the insects in the ruins, the Chinese Redbud Wilderness would have been fully integrated into the main Blue Planet.
“Let’s go,” said Su Bai once he got off the Flying Basilisk, putting the cub onto the ground.
“Howl! φ( ̄∇ ̄o)”
