Chapter 222: Chapter 222: Big Sister, It’s Not Right to Lie! (Part 2)

"Tch!"

Ning Ruoxi pouted, but she didn’t really care. She eagerly speared a dumpling, dipped it in the vinegar, and took a bite.

"Yow! Hot, hot, hot!"

Ning Ruoxi cried out.

Watching from the side, Ye Ling couldn’t help but laugh. ’Is my girlfriend not just a foodie, but also a total dork?’

"What are you laughing at?"

A sharp glare suddenly landed on Ye Ling.

"The way you eat your dumplings is just utterly captivating!"

The smile on Ye Ling’s face vanished in an instant, his survival instincts kicking into overdrive as he spoke.

"Hmph!"

Ning Ruoxi huffed, then carefully chewed the dumpling in her mouth.

"How does it taste?"

Ye Ling asked, full of confidence.

"It’s so-so."

Ning Ruoxi said with a small pout.

"Is that so?"

Ye Ling raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "Looks like these dumplings aren’t to your liking. I guess I’ll have to finish them all myself, then."

As he spoke, Ye Ling pretended to take the plate of dumplings away.

"No way!"

Like a little tigress guarding her food, Ning Ruoxi instantly shot out her hands, pulling the plate into her embrace and shooting Ye Ling a glare.

’The little tigress was very, very fierce!’

"Didn’t you say they weren’t good?"

Ye Ling leaned back in his chair, a faint smile on his face.

In truth, he had no intention of taking them; he just wanted to tease Ning Ruoxi.

By now, Ning Ruoxi had of course realized Ye Ling was teasing her. She puffed out her cheeks and glared at him.

’Jerk!’

"Hmph! Well, you still can’t have them."

Ning Ruoxi huffed again, then proceeded to launch an all-out assault on the dumplings.

After a few more, she completely forgot about what had just happened.

It couldn’t be helped; these dumplings were just too delicious!

’Maybe I’ll forgive this jerk for the sake of these amazing dumplings?’

"For this filling, I made a special trip to the market to buy fresh, live shrimp," Ye Ling said with a proud little huff.

"You’ve worked hard, my king," Ning Ruoxi said in a soft, gentle voice.

She could tell, of course. The dumplings were exceptionally savory with a hint of delicate sweetness. Frozen shrimp could never taste like this.

After they’d eaten their fill, Ye Ling held Ning Ruoxi as they comfortably settled in for an afternoon nap.

On a cold winter day, with the heat on, cuddling your little darling for an afternoon nap... now that’s the right way to do winter!

All you jerks out there, have you learned your lesson?

Ah, never mind. You’re all single anyway, so it’s no use telling you.

Having gone to bed late the previous night, Ye Ling was sleeping soundly. He only began to stir when a small hand started repeatedly poking and pinching his face.

"You Little Demon, disturbing my sweet dreams again!"

Ye Ling’s eyes shot open. He immediately pulled Ning Ruoxi into his embrace. She seemed like she was about to say something, but he gave her no chance, kissing her directly.

Take note!

This was the second battle between the Righteous Giant and the Fox Demon!

The battle was fierce. It began with a clash of lips and tongues, but soon escalated as various legendary martial arts techniques were unleashed.

Faced with this particular Fox Demon of profound cultivation, Ye Ling had no choice but to unleash the legendary Dragon Claw Hand of Shaolin!

「Ten minutes later.」

Under such a powerful attack, the Fox Demon was finally subdued once again.

"Still feeling feisty?"

Ye Ling huffed, a look of smug triumph on his face as he gazed at the crimson-cheeked Ning Ruoxi in his arms.

"You’re bullying me again."

Ning Ruoxi pouted, her voice a mix of charm and vexation.

"I was sleeping perfectly fine. Weren’t you the one who started messing with me?"

Ye Ling raised an eyebrow. ’This Little Fox Demon is still trying to talk her way out of it?’

’Looks like...’

’...she hasn’t been completely subdued yet!’

"Okay, okay, I was wrong..."

Sensing his gaze, Ning Ruoxi ducked her head and quickly explained, "It’s snowing outside! That’s why I wanted to wake you. Who knew you’d be sleeping so soundly? I was calling you for ages and you wouldn’t wake up."

"Snowing?"

Ye Ling was stunned for a moment.

’Didn’t we just talk about it possibly snowing this winter while we were watching that movie at noon?’

Half-convinced, Ye Ling walked to the window and glanced outside. The sky had already taken on a dusky, yellowish hue. He had clearly slept for a long time, nearly until twilight.

Over the course of the afternoon, the bustling city had donned a coat of pure white snow. It looked incomparably brilliant, illuminated by the dazzling golden light of the setting sun.

"See? I wasn’t lying."

Ning Ruoxi came to his side, huffed, and then clung to his arm. "Come on, let’s go! We have to go outside! It’s so rare for it to snow."

For it to snow this heavily in a place like Modu was rare indeed.

Ye Ling dotingly ruffled her hair. "Okay, okay. Let me get dressed and I’ll go out with you."

By the time Ye Ling and Ning Ruoxi went outside, there were already quite a few people on the streets. Everyone looked at the blanket of white, their faces alight with excitement.

Perhaps this was the legendary happiness of southerners that northerners just don’t get?

The moment Ning Ruoxi got downstairs, she was beside herself with excitement, hopping and skipping around like a little kid who never grew up.

"Slow down, be careful not to fall."

Ye Ling called out with a helpless sigh.

But at that moment, Ning Ruoxi couldn’t hear a word he was saying as she darted back and forth.

"She’s really full of energy."

Ye Ling couldn’t help but shake his head and chuckle, his gaze drifting towards the tall buildings in the distance.

Every last one of the skyscrapers was cloaked in silver, creating the illusion that they had been transported to the far north.

"Let’s build a snowman!"

Suddenly, Ning Ruoxi ran back to Ye Ling and said with a look of anticipation.

"Build a snowman? Aren’t you a little old for that?"

Ye Ling gave her an exasperated look.

"So are you gonna build one or not...?"

Ning Ruoxi grumbled, then started wheedling and tugging on his arm. "I’m only three years old! Please, just one snowman? Just one!"

A little kid, maybe four or five years old, happened to be walking past. Upon hearing Ning Ruoxi, he shouted, "Big sister is lying! There’s no way you’re three!"

Hearing this, Ye Ling and Ning Ruoxi both froze for a second before looking over.

They looked over and saw the little kid standing with his hands on his hips, looking at Ning Ruoxi with a dead-serious expression. "Big sister, it’s wrong to lie!"

Ye Ling fought to hold back his laughter, standing silently to the side. He didn’t interrupt, just stood there to watch the show.

’He wanted to see how she would get out of this one.’

"Hmph! I’m not lying! This big sister is three years old!"

Ning Ruoxi looked at the little tyke and huffed.

"No, you’re lying! I’m the one who’s three years old!"

Hearing this, the child immediately cried out, gesturing with his hand. "I’m this tall, and you’re *that* tall. It’s totally impossible!"

"Big sister just eats more, so she grew faster," Ning Ruoxi, now getting competitive with the kid, immediately retorted.
