Chapter 4241: Meteor Realm

Chapter 4241: Meteor Realm

Greater Sancte Awe Gate shook her head. “I don’t know why. I originally believed that Qing Yun would be like her father, yet the child is no different from a human.”

“That is strange. By the way, don’t get angry, as I’m just asking casually.” Blood Tower coughed. “Qing Yun’s birth, was her father willing?”

Awe Gate instantly flew into a rage and shot a vicious glare at the man.

Blood Tower quickly stepped back. “Don’t get angry! I was just asking.”

Lu Yin was speechless. Greater Sancte Blood Tower could be much too blunt at times.

In truth, the same thought had occurred to Lu Yin.

If Awe Gate had not been overwhelmingly forceful, how could Qing Yun possess none of the Longevity lifeforms’ traits?

Seeing the strange expressions on everyone’s faces, Awe Gate continued in a low voice. “Her father is an Immortal.”

Everyone was taken aback. An Immortal?

“You managed to take away the child of an Immortal?” Blood Tower clearly did not believe her.

Awe Gate gritted her teeth. “He helped me.”

Only then did everyone understand. If not for receiving assistance from another Immortal, how could Awe Gate have stolen Qing Yun from the Longevity Civilization?

Blood Tower sighed. “In that case, he isn’t a bad person.”

Greater Sancte Green Lotus changed the topic. “For Lu Yin to learn the Jumping Line of Sight, he must go to the Longevity Civilization, correct?”

Awe Gate’s expression eased slightly. “Correct.”

“That Jumping Line of Sight is an innate gift, so how is he supposed to learn it?” Mister Mu asked, puzzled.

Awe Gate replied. “I also don’t know, but that person once said that I could obtain the innate gift so long as I remained with the Longevity Civilization and never returned to human civilization.”

“Weren’t you driven out?” Blood Tower countered.

Awe Gate explained, “I was only driven out because I refused to stay. They gave me two choices: remain as part of the Longevity Civilization, vow to never return to human civilization and disguise myself as one of them for my entire life, or be expelled.

“I couldn’t live my entire life disguised as a Longevity liveform. If I did, I would have never been able to break through to the Immortal realm, and even if I did, what meaning would such Immortality have held?”

A civilization was the foundation of a species. Within the Aevum Inch, many Immortals did not care about their own civilization, but there were also many who regarded their civilization as the sole meaning of their very existence.

Humans clearly belonged to the latter.

Jiang Feng said, “Even if Lu Yin can learn the Jumping Line of Sight, you were expelled. How can you let him learn?”

Awe Gate’s eyes flickered. “Because of a promise from Chang Tian. He owes me.”

Everyone exchanged glances. Owes you?

“Is Chang Tian Qing Yun’s father?”

Awe Gate nodded, then looked at Lu Yin. “Lu Yin, do you wish to learn the Jumping Line of Sight?”

“I do,” Lu Yin answered without hesitation.

“Then we will only be able to try this once. It’s possible that we won’t even reach the Longevity Civilization. And if we do, you still might not be able to learn it. It’s even possible that the Meteor Realm won’t appear at all. But no matter what, we must at least try. This is the best way to improve your teleportation ability.”

Lu Yin pondered for a moment. “Thank you, Senior.”

He did need the Jumping Line of Sight, and since that was the case, he would try.

But this attempt would also be torment for Greater Sancte Awe Gate, as she would need to face the Longevity Civilization again, as well as Chang Tian.

Lu Yin felt that he owed the Immortals of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse more and more.

He did not say anything further. Keeping such things in his heart was enough.

Next was planning how he would learn the ability.

“How long until the Meteor Realm reappears? Can you be certain that you will even be able to return home?” Green Lotus asked.

He feared the terrible loss that humanity would suffer if Lu Yin and Awe Gate failed to return.

Awe Gate reassured everyone. “We can certainly return. The Meteor Realm allows for two-way trips. I’ve tried it many times. Even though I never returned to the Longevity Civilization, I was able to travel to other regions and return.”

“And you can determine if it is possible to reach the Longevity Civilization through the Meteor Realm?”

“Yes. While we haven’t studied the Meteor Realm deeply, the Longevity Civilization has. Just as the Gate of Laws is our own path of retreat, the Longevity Civilization has similarly left itself a path of retreat. No one can be certain that a civilization capable of destroying them won’t appear some day.” Awe Gate glanced around. “My knowledge of the Meteor Realm comes from the Longevity Civilization.”

Jiang Feng asked, “Just how strong is this Longevity Civilization?”

This was the question everyone was most concerned about.

Awe Gate spoke slowly. “The last time I was there, they had four Immortals. Now, I don’t know.”

Lu Yin let out a slight breath. Four Immortals was manageable. Even if one or two more had risen to power, it would still be within an acceptable range. This meant that the Longevity Civilization was not a fishing civilization.

“The Longevity Civilization does not possess a great many Immortals, but they once directly withstood a fishing civilization.” Awe Gate added something further.

Everyone was stunned.

“Directly withstood a fishing civilization?” Lu Yin was shocked. Why did that sound so familiar? Was that not the strength of the Seven-Treasure Anuras’ Ancestor Shan?

Awe Gate’s expression grew solemn. “According to the legends, the Longevity Civilization once had an ancient powerhouse. When a fishing civilization attempted to destroy them, that powerhouse confronted them directly and forced them to retreat. Because of that, no civilization is willing to provoke the Longevity Civilization.

“The Longevity Civilization is not a fishing civilization, but provoking them carries the same level of risk. Their strongest known expert is someone known as Chang Tu, who resonates with two cosmic laws and who forged his heart through slaughter. He is also feared by fishing civilizations.”

Legends were vague records, but the terror of a powerhouse who resonated with two cosmic laws was something everyone present could understand.

So far, Lu Yin only knew of two Immortals who had undoubtedly resonated with two cosmic laws: Huo of the Blacklight Civilization and the Seven-Treasure Anuras’ Old First. As for Greater Sancte Green Lotus, Lu Yin was uncertain, though he felt that the Immortal had most likely reached that level as well.

This meant that Chang Tu was roughly as strong as Old First.

That was not someone whom Lu Yin and Awe Gate could handle even together.

After all, not even Lan Meng or Hui had resonated with two cosmic laws.

There was a saying: resonating with two cosmic laws did not necessarily make an Immortal strong, but only a truly powerful Immortal could resonate with two cosmic laws.

The latter portion of the statement completely contradicted the first bit. Essentially, anyone who resonated with two cosmic laws was an absolute powerhouse.

The Longevity Civilization did not have many Immortals, but their quality was exceptional.

“Did the ancient powerhouse in the legends truly exist?” Jiang Feng asked.

Awe Gate shook her head. “I don’t know, but what I’ve shared is what the Longevity Civilization speaks of, and Chang Tian also mentioned it. More importantly, I once saw a record within the Longevity Civilization describing a fishing civilization in great detail.”

Those three words, “in great detail”, were already an answer. Without directly confronting such a civilization, how could the Longevity Civilization have such thorough knowledge about a fishing civilization?

This Longevity Civilization was truly not to be crossed.

Everything that needed to be said had already been said. What mattered next was whether Lu Yin decided to go.

The Longevity Civilization was not easily provoked, but was the current human civilization any easier to cross?

Even without considering nothing else, as long as Lu Yin had even the smallest of openings, he would be able to instantly escape.

“Senior Awe Gate, what is your relationship with the Longevity Civilization?” Lu Yin asked.

Awe Gate considered the question. “While I was driven away, there was no hostility. I don’t think that they care that I took Qing Yun.”

“Since we can use the Meteor Realm to reach the Longevity Civilization, can they also use it to come here?” Jiang Feng suddenly asked.

Awe Gate shook her head. “That wouldn’t be easy. To determine a specific location to travel to, you must have been there once. For example, because my first time in the Meteor Realm led me to the Longevity Civilization, I can return there again. If my first destination had not been the Longevity Civilization, then it would have been difficult for me to ever find it. Likewise, no one from the Longevity Civilization has ever come here, which makes it almost impossible for them to locate our region.”

Green Lotus spoke up, “Awe Gate mentioned this to me long ago. While she did not share any information about the Longevity Civilization, she did inform me of the astral phenomenon known as the Meteor Realm. I have been keeping careful watch on it in case any powerful outsiders come through it.”

“Why not destroy it?” Mister Mu asked.

The Greater Sancte sighed. “We even keep Obscura’s gate around as a last resort. How could we destroy an astral phenomenon like the Meteor Realm?

“If the day comes when our human civilization faces a true catastrophe, we will not choose just one place to flee. The more escape routes that we have, the greater the chance that our legacy will survive.”

The man’s words revealed a hidden bitterness. This was true not only for human civilization, but also for countless civilizations throughout the Aevum Inch.

Every civilization wished to leave themselves with a path of retreat, and the Longevity Civilization was no exception. That was why they had also left the Meteor Realm untouched.

Soon, Lu Yin took Greater Sancte Awe Gate to the location where the Meteor Realm would appear, outside of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.

It was then that Lu Yin finally understood. When Greater Sancte Awe Gate had clawed her way out of the Mindscape Megaverse’s rift, her combat strength had already approached that of an Aberrant, and her speed had approached that of an Immortal. If not for that, she would have never been able to leave the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm in such a short amount of time.

Even crossing the short distance between the Mindscape Megaverse and the edge of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm was not something that most peak Dukkhans could do.

No wonder Awe Gate had regretted not being able to fight Lu Yin before entering the Immortal realm.

“This is the place. From what I observed, in no more than a few years, the Meteor Realm will reappear. Are you certain that you want to go?” Awe Gate asked.

“I’m certain,” Lu Yin replied, “No matter what, I need to at least try. My ability to teleport is flawed by my need to see my destination. It feels as if I’m blindfolded, which is unbearable. If I can gain this ability, even though I won’t be able to fully control how far I can see, if I run into danger, I will at least be able to instantly escape.

“Even against someone as powerful as Ancestor Shan, it would be possible to reach a distance far out of reach.”

Lu Yin would never forget that there had been a presence watching Ancestor Shan. Such a being had to be unimaginably strong. If that creature noticed Lu Yin, then not even teleporting his maximum distance away would allow him to escape. That was something that Ancestor Shan had already confirmed.

But if it was possible to cross distances that exceeded the imagination, would it still be impossible to escape?

Teleportation was not unable to allow Lu Yin to escape; it merely lacked the ability to cross enough distance.

The Jumping Line of Sight could provide that necessary distance.

Lu Yin would go, but his safety had to be ensured.

Mister Mu wanted to tag along, but even he with his dominion type mirebound artifact might not be able to buy Lu Yin even a single breath of time against someone like Chang Tu. That being resonated with two cosmic laws, and the ancient monster might be even more powerful than that.

If not, then when they had been at the Seven-Treasure Anuras’ home, Ancestor Shan would not have told Lu Yin that escape was impossible.

Thus, Lu Yin decided to seek out Old First.

Within their human civilization, only the eldest living Seven-Treasure Anura was known to have resonated with two cosmic laws. Also, since humanity had just recently helped the Seven-Treasure Anuras, Old First surely would not refuse.

In the Consciousness Megaverse, Old First stared at Lu Yin in a daze. This repayment request had arrived much too quickly. Just how long had it even been?
