Chapter 4178: Give It A Try
Chapter 4178: Give It A Try
All along, the Death Megaverse had been a topic that human civilization did not want to even mention. Not even Greater Sancte Green Lotus wished to make contact with that civilization. When feeling pressure from Obscura, it had once been mentioned that it might be able to threaten them with the Death Megaverse, which was a sign of that civilization’s standing in the minds of humanity; the Death Megaverse was both terrifying and mysterious.
True terror was something impelled by the unknown and the mysterious. If Lu Yin could clearly see the Death Megaverse, then no matter how powerful it might be, at least the fear of the unknown would disappear, which would make things much better.
Lu Yin raised his hand and stared absentmindedly at his die. He had no idea if its sixth ability could use the power of Stillness to allow him to Possess the bodies of the inhabitants of the Death Megaverse. He hoped that it could.
But not for the time being. He did not even know the location of the Death Megaverse at the moment, so there was no need to provoke them. When considering a fishing civilization, his die did not seem that mysterious.
After all, even Yong Heng was capable of overcoming the die's abilities, let alone the Death Megaverse.
Only when Lu Yin confronted a genuine threat from the Death Megaverse would he make any such attempts.
The power of Stillness also needed to be used sparingly, as he needed to avoid attracting the Death Megaverse towards humanity’s megaverses.
Putting Aberrant away, Lu Yin teleported back to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
He had been gone for more than thirty years, and he did not know if Obscura had sent another message through Master Qing Cao.
Lu Yin arrived in the Sea of Karma and glanced at Hong'er in the distance. The woman appeared to be lost in thought as she gazed at the Mother Tree. It was impossible for her to not draw Lu Yin’s attention, given that her red robes were far too eye-catching.
When Hong’er saw that Lu Yin had arrived, she offered a slow bow. "Mr. Lu."
Lu Yin nodded. "I’m here to see Senior Green Lotus."
"Master will be here soon. Please wait a bit, Mr. Lu." Hong'er replied. She offered another bow and then turned to leave.
Lu Yin stared at her back. Her red attire always made him think of the Crimson Starshade.
As he gazed at the woman, Hong'er suddenly stopped and turned around to meet Lu Yin's eyes.
He froze for a moment and then looked away.
"Mr. Lu, it seems that you still have one task left unfulfilled," Hong'er commented.
Lu Yin looked back at her. "Have you decided on your task, miss?"
"Do you still care about that agreement with my master, Mr. Lu?"
Lu Yin's expression grew solemn. "No one cannot care about Senior Green Lotus."
Hong'er nodded. "Then when I have decided, I will contact you, Mr. Lu. Please, do as you wish."
Lu Yin watched as Hong'er left, not knowing what task the woman was thinking of asking him to perform.
Compared to when he had first arrived in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, his strength had risen dramatically. As long as Hong’er’s task was within the bounds of human civilization’s megaverses, it was hard to imagine anything that could truly stump him.
The problem was, Hong’er was not from human civilization.
Could her task involve a foreign civilization?
At that moment, Greater Sancte Green Lotus arrived. "So, you acquired a weapon?"
Lu Yin smiled and took out the scythe.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus admired it. "You finally have a weapon that suits you."
"I call it Aberrant."
Greater Sancte Green Lotus gave Lu Yin an odd look. "Aberrant?
Greater Sancte Awe Gate arrived just in time to hear Lu Yin's name for his weapon, and she asked in befuddlement, "Why call it Aberrant?"
Lu Yin smiled at Greater Sancte Awe Gate. "Senior, would you like to test my weapon's power?"
Greater Sancte Green Lotus looked at Greater Sancte Awe Gate with interest. The woman nodded. "Fine."
She turned to face Lu Yin fully as her aura gradually grew cold and even radiated a slight sense of pressure. Lu Yin was immediately reminded of the moment in the Mindscape Megaverse when he had endured the pressure of her thirty-five rifts. He was not an Immortal, but he was more than merely an Aberrant. He was extremely powerful.
Greater Sancte Blood Tower arrived. Upon seeing the confrontation, he asked in surprise, "Did I miss something?"
"Not yet," Greater Sancte Green Lotus replied.
Greater Sancte Awe Gate was staring at Lu Yin. "Come. Let me see why you call it Aberrant."
"He has been an Aberrant for ages. Awe Gate, did you forget?" Greater Sancte Blood Tower asked in an odd tone.
No one paid the man any attention.
Lu Yin held his scythe tightly as he stepped forward. A flash of sharp light swept around him as the scythe’s blade fell.
Clang.
There was a thunderous crash. Greater Sancte Awe Gate tightened her grip on Awecloud and retreated one step. She twisted her spear and thrust it through the void in the scythe's blind spot. If the spear connected, it would stab into Lu Yin's abdomen. There was another deafening boom. The scythe pressed down, its edge pinning Awecloud in place. Lu Yin did not even use force, and yet Greater Sancte Awe Gate reacted as if she had been shocked, and she quickly pulled Awecloud back while staring intently at Lu Yin's scythe.
Greater Sancte Blood Tower frowned. Something was off about that exchange. Lu Yin's slash had been strong, but not to the point where it would force Greater Sancte Awe Gate to retreat after a single exchange. After all, the man was not an Immortal yet. Even with his various methods, he could match or defeat an ordinary Immortal at best. But Greater Sancte Awe Gate was no ordinary Immortal. She was extremely powerful.
It was already impressive for Lu Yin to be able to stand firm beneath one of Awe Gate's attacks. How had he managed to force her back a step?
Their second exchange had also given Awe Gate the advantage, rather than Lu Yin. Even so, she had been the one to retract her weapon that time as well. No, there was no doubt that something was wrong.
"Are you two playing around?"
Greater Sancte Green Lotus looked over. "Blood Tower, you give it a try as well."
Greater Sancte Awe Gate’s brow rose as she looked at Greater Sancte Blood Tower. "You want to try?"
"I will." Greater Sancte Blood Tower drew his Blood Blade. The moment the saber was drawn, red covered the sky above the Sea of Karma. The aura of slaughter was suffocating.
Beneath the Mother Tree, countless people looked up, feeling the oppressive, overwhelming stench of blood. That was Greater Sancte Blood Tower’s power.
The aura of slaughter swept across the Sea of Karma, the lotus pond, and the entirety of the Mother Tree’s canopy.
Greater Sancte Awe Gate was speechless. "Is that really necessary? Are you trying to shatter Senior Green Lotus's Sea of Karma?"
Greater Sancte Blood Tower sneered. "Don’t try to trick me. It’s clear that something is wrong, and I don’t want to lose any face."
He then focused on Lu Yin. "Mr. Lu, come. Show me what’s really going on."
Lu Yin smiled. "Senior, be careful. This scythe of mine is named Aberrant."
Greater Sancte Blood Tower was surprised. Aberrant?
Before he could consider the matter any further, Lu Yin released a diagonal slash with the scythe. Greater Sancte Blood Tower instinctively dodged as his Blood Blade chopped down from above. The scythe spun, not even needing to be aimed as it sliced up from below.
The scythe had too large of an attack range, which granted it an advantage. Greater Sancte Awe Gate could use Awecloud to pierce through from a single point, which might create an opening, but the Blood Blade moved in broad, heavy arcs. Every strike was easy for the scythe to block.
Greater Sancte Blood Tower had no intention of exploiting these openings to cut at Lu Yin. He wanted to cut the scythe itself.
Clang!
The Blood Blade met the scythe. A razor sharp force ripped through the void, shattering the nearby space and causing an endless darkness to spread out. Greater Sancte Green Lotus quickly waved a hand to restrict the damage to a limited range.
Greater Sancte Blood Tower stared in disbelief at the point where the weapons had met. He viciously pulled back his Blood Blade. In front of him, Lu Yin also slowly pulled back his scythe.
Greater Sancte Blood Tower looked from his saber to Lu Yin's scythe. "How is this possible?"
The moment the two weapons had met, a surge of Activeness had flooded the Immortal’s body through his Blood Blade. The energy had arrived so suddenly and violently that he had almost wanted to retreat out of instinct.
At that moment, he understood why Greater Sancte Awe Gate had retreated. She had not been forced back by Lu Yin, but simply had not wanted to endure more of that Activeness flooding her body.
She had made the right choice. In order to save face, Blood Tower had endured the flood of energy for a brief moment, but he had ultimately also chosen to withdraw. Remaining in place would have allowed that energy to continue pouring into his body, and that would have forced him to resist the energy while also defending against Lu Yin. In such a situation, it would be all too easy to fall into a trap.
Lu Yin smiled and swung his scythe. "Well, Senior? Aberrant isn’t bad, is it?"
Greater Sancte Green Lotus praised, "No wonder you call it Aberrant. It certainly is roguish enough."
Greater Sancte Awe Gate agreed deeply. "It really is an Aberrant."
"Aberrant? It’s downright shameless," Greater Sancte Blood Tower said as he put away his Blood Blade. "That is a cosmic law. That’s the object from the Activeness megaverse, isn’t it?"
Lu Yin nodded as he also put away the scythe.
"In a battle between Immortals, a cosmic law is considered a trump card, and yet your scythe releases that energy that’s related to a cosmic law anytime and anywhere. Any creature who fights you must first endure having that Activeness enter their body. With that weapon, you might as well have an Immortal fighting at your side, constantly using their cosmic law. Any fight will basically be two against one," Greater Sancte Awe Gate marveled.
The more the Immortals said, the more satisfied Lu Yin became.
Originally, he had to fuse with the Tianyuan in order to fight against the humanoid Verdant Sage. After the moment that Lu Yin had officially become an Aberrant, he had gained a number of means that he could use to fight against Immortals.
Aberrant had pushed him yet another step forward.
It could be said that if he faced both the humanoid Verdant Sage and the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage again, he would be able to fight them both even without merging with a megaverse.
Greater Sancte Blood Tower also shared some praise. "Mr. Lu, you are no longer merely an Aberrant, but a tyrant among Aberrants."
Lu Yin was speechless. It always sounded as though Blood Tower was basically insulting him.
Lu Yin slowly bowed to Greater Sancti Green Lotus, Awe Gate, and Blood Tower. "This junior must thank the three seniors. If you had not refrained from taking this item, I would have never had the opportunity to acquire this weapon."
Given how strong Greater Sanct Awe Gate and Blood Tower were, either one could have grabbed the item. They had not, because they had been leaving it for Lu Yin.
Greater Sancte Awe Gate shrugged. "I have Awecloud."
Greater Sancte Blood Tower smiled. "I also have my Blood Blade. It does not matter."
"Regardless, this junior still thanks the three seniors," Lu Yin said gratefully.
Who could have imagined that the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, which had once used the entire Spirit Nidus for cultivation resources, would treat him so well?
He had once ridden Boundless to the Spirit Nidus, going there with the resolve to die. In that megaverse, Lu Yin had indeed survived multiple threats and fought against the High Seraph with both wits and courage. However, after entering the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, everything had changed. It had felt as though he had come home. Everyone had helped him, especially the Greater Sancti, who truly cared for him as if they were his elders. Their kindness deeply moved Lu Yin.
The world of cultivators was ruthless and full of scheming and deceit. Lu Yin had lived through it, and yet he was fortunate in that humanity’s Immortals were all people of great vision.
In every cultivation realm, there were both good people and bad people. Even if it was merely due to a differing mindset, some Immortals would still dislike a person and try to destroy them. There was nothing to be done about such things.
That was why Lu Yin knew that he was very lucky to have met the Immortals that he had.
"By the way, is there any news from Obscura?" Lu Yin asked.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus answered, "No."
Greater Sancte Blood Tower looked at Lu Yin. "I truly never expected Obscura to invite you. Sure, you’re an Aberrant, but no matter how one looks at it, they should have invited Senior Green Lotus or me. Even Awe Gate would be expected. After all, Aberrant or not, the essence of an Immortal is not something that an Aberrant can compare to."
"What do you mean, ‘even’ me?" Greater Sancte Awe Gate glared at Greater Sancte Blood Tower in dissatisfaction. "Are you saying that I’m a worse choice than you?"
"You don’t need to put it so bluntly," Greater Sancte Blood Tower retorted.
Greater Sancte Awe Gate brow shot up. "Then fight me. I’ve put up with you for long enough."
Greater Sancte Blood Tower shrugged. "Sure, just spit out Mi Jin's spirit seed first."
"That is now part of my strength."
"Girl, you are getting more shameless. Do you want to use my spirit seed for Seed Transfusion too and then call that your strength?"
"If you dare to give it, I dare to take it."
"If you dare to take it, I dare to give it."
"Then give it."
"Come take it."
"If I take it, you give it."
"Come take it and I will definitely give it."
"You..."
