Chapter 4096: Conforming To The Laws

Chapter 4096: Conforming To The Laws

Ku Deng asked in a low voice, “Is Obscura declaring war on human civilization?”

Lan Meng carelessly flicked their sword again. “Against your human civilization. First, Qi Xu was sent to deal with you, and now it’s me. If all of Obscura took action, your civilization would already be gone. So, let’s proceed. First, let me state something: I am not here to kill you, merely to protect Kang Tian. Obscura’s rules never change, and our hands are never stained with the blood of a civilization’s destruction.”

“Spare me the drivel.” Awe Gate raised Awecloud and thrust the spear forward.

Clang.

Space shattered, and the battle between Immortals raged on.

Outside the Tianyuan Megaverse, as the Immortal beast’s roar rang out. Lu Yin exhaled heavily. In the end, the monster had arrived.

He released his Karmic Dao to merge with the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm so that he could speak with Greater Sancte Green Lotus. “Senior, the situation has become a mess, and things are not in our favor.”

Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s expression was grave. “A powerhouse from Obscura by the name of Lan Meng has just arrived. I have a bad feeling that they might very well be just as strong as the Immortal Lord.”

“Given your strength, would killing an ordinary Immortal be costly for you?”

“Of course. Immortals are beings that have been recognized by the cosmos as a fitting existence. Killing one violates the cosmic laws that that Immortal aligns with and therefore offends the cosmos. Killing an Immortal exacts a far heavier price than slaying ordinary creatures.” He then paused, clasping his hands behind his back. “But if one needs to be killed, then one must be killed.”

“But you’re pinned down, Senior.”

Greater Sancte Green Lotus said nothing.

“Everything has been thrown into chaos, and every new face we see is hostile to humanity. Since that’s the case, let’s make things even messier.”

“You mean...?”

“I’m going to weave karma for them.”

Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s eyes lit up. Right.

He had nearly forgotten that Lu Yin was capable of weaving karma, which meant that he could alter enmities.

Who said that Kang Tian had to fight against the humans?

Who said that the Immortal beast had to fight against the Tianyuan?

Who said that Lan Meng would be able to avoid being dragged into the scuffle?

Things would not be so easy.

“Since it’s chaotic, let’s make things completely chaotic. Only by muddying the waters will we be able to fish in them,” Lu Yin muttered in a low voice.

“Good. I’ll lend you my strength,” Greater Sancte Green Lotus announced.

“What about the Immortal Lord? Will they realize what’s happening?”

“I will have Awe Gate enter the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. The Immortal Lord won’t notice anything for some time.”

“What about Lan Meng?”

“Obscura’s only aim is to shield Kang Tian. As long as that snail’s life is not at risk, Obscura will not try to kill anyone.”

“Then let’s get started.”

Lu Yin’s first target was the Immortal monster.

He had previously weaved karma for the beast, making it hate the Nest civilization, and more specifically, the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage as the humanoid Verdant Sage had not appeared yet during that time. Lu Yin wanted to add enmity towards the second Immortal bug to the beast’s emotions, preventing them from ever working together.

The Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm roared and seethed as spirals of karma swept towards the Immortal beast.

At the same time, Awe Gate suddenly retreated from the fight against Lan Meng and Kang Tian, returning to the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm’s bounds.

Lan Meng was taken aback, as they could not understand why the woman had left.

“Obscura, if you have the courage, fight within karma,” Awe Gate barked.

Lan Meng reversed their grip on the blue sword and also retreated from the battle. “If you won’t fight, then neither will I. We’ll leave it to them to decide things.”

Awe Gate let out a breath.

She was not able to control the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, but she had previously succeeded in comprehending the mural in the Sea of Karma, receiving a portion of Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s karmic legacy. That was enough for her to use the macrocosm to perceive the Aevum Inch surrounding the human megaverses.

With Greater Sancte Green Lotus aiding Lu Yin to weave karma, there was a need for someone else to handle the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm and prevent the Immortal Lord from noticing what was happening.

Only direct contact could reveal just how terrifying the Immortal Lord was.

As soon as Awe Gate made contact with the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, she could feel pressure from the Immortal Lord. It came from every direction of the cosmos, blanketing the entirety of the Aevum Inch. She immediately knew that she was not on the same level as the Immortal Lord.

Even among Immortals, there could be a vast gap in strength.

The Immortal Lord was one such opponent.

Having led the Nest civilization on its rampage across the Aevum Inch, the Immortal Lord allowed the insects to exist in between an ordinary civilization and a fishing civilization. As far as humanity was concerned, the Nest civilization might as well be a fishing civilization.

Outside the Tianyuan, the Immortal beast arrived, delivered by the two Verdant Sages with the help of Luo Chan. The droplet creature lured the monster closer to the karmic wall, while the humanoid Verdant Sage continued their duel with Lu Yin.

The droplet creature’s goal was to shatter the karmic wall and move the battlefield into the Tianyuan, forcing Lu Yin to not only fight against the Nest civilization’s two Immortals, but also the Immortal beast.

If he chose to ignore the monster, it could easily tear the entire Tianyuan apart.

The humanoid Verdant Sage attacked from afar. “Your human civilization cannot survive this battle.”

The Tri-Azure Sword Intent swept out in front of Lu Yin, tearing through the approaching palm strike. The humanoid Verdant Sage met the attack head-on with their Three Revolutions of Qianyuan. Lifeforce surged, and the creature’s wounds from earlier did not hinder them in the slightest.

“You’d better watch your back,” Lu Yin suddenly warned. He then stepped onto the River of Aeons, vanishing.

The humanoid Verdant Sage was taken aback, and they looked back, only to see a vast white arm with claws sweeping towards them.

The insect thrust both hands forward.

Boom!

There was a thunderous crash, and the humanoid insect was sent staggering back. Each step crushed the void as space and time around them froze and shattered while Immortal matter scattered like starlight.

What? Why is the beast suddenly attacking me?

In the distance, the droplet creature was just about to attack the karmic wall, only to also freeze. It quickly understood and turned to stare at Lu Yin. “Karma.”

From behind Lu Yin, waves of Tri-Azure Sword Intent sliced toward the droplet creature. “Make up your mind whether it’s your enemy or mine.”

Water droplets spread out across space, forming a curtain of rain that was sliced apart by the sword intent.

A river of droplets took form above the droplet creature’s head, and then it swept through the sword intent, grinding the attacks to nothingpieces.

Lu Yin stepped forward, throwing a fist at the bug. Infinity surged through him as Heaven’s Seal’s sequence particles moved out and he strengthened his attack with both Lifeforce and Immortal matter. The punch shattered a vast expanse of the Aevum Inch as it shot forward.

The droplet creature was clearly well trained, and it abruptly compressed the void that surrounded it, as though pulling on the cosmos from a different dimension and condensing space into multiple layers.

Lu Yin’s fist smashed into the layers of space, but they delayed him just enough for the droplet creature to evade. Its body dispersed into nothing.

Lu Yin struck again, but he hit nothing.

Where did it go?

“Endless Water Realm: absolute dominion.” The droplet creature’s voice echoed beside Lu Yin’s ear. His body instantly withered, and an unquenchable thirst consumed him, as if he would turn to dust. Cracks split across his skin as blood seeped out. When he looked up, the sky itself had become a sea of droplets spreading across the entire Aevum Inch.

“This is an attack that aligns with the cosmic laws,” Greater Sancte Green Lotus explained. “Can you endure?”

Lu Yin clenched his teeth. “I can... keep going.”

While fighting against the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage, he had kept his own karma connected to the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. He was slowly moving towards where Ku Deng was fighting in order to weave Kang Tian’s karma. It was impossible for Lu Yin to fight with his full strength. He was not even able to merge with the will of the Tianyuan at the moment, as doing so would interrupt his attempt to weave karma.

His body continued to dry up.

Immortals could live forever because they aligned with laws that conformed to the cosmos as a whole, which led to Immortals being acknowledged by the omniverse itself. This was the very foundation of the Immortal realm, as well as the foundation for Immortals’ greatest abilities.

Among Immortals, the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage had the worst combat strength. It was not able to handle the half-crippled Immortal beast, had previously been wounded by Jiang Feng, and had been forced to retreat after being threatened by Lu Yin.

Still, that did not mean that the bug was weak; no Immortal was.

The cosmic law instantly pushed Lu Yin into a perilous situation; his body was turning to dust.

He was drying up in a completely different manner from when he used Extremes Must Be Reversed.

A card suddenly appeared in Lu Yin’s hand. It was the Primordial card, Shan Barrens.

The River of Aeons flowed beneath his feet, and he vanished again. When he reappeared, he was behind the humanoid Verdant Sage.

That Immortal bug had been focused on the Immortal beast, slipping around the sweeping white arms. They had not expected Lu Yin to suddenly appear, let alone with the Primordial card that the Immortal insect had dreamed of.

Before they could even react, they were pulled into the Primordial card.

The Immortal monster’s bloodshot eyes swept the cosmos, but the humanoid Verdant Sage was gone. Only Lu Yin remained, and he was also an enemy. Even so, the monster felt a twinge of dread at the sight of Lu Yin.

Their previous clash had resulted in the Immortal monster losing both an arm and an eye. At this moment, it suddenly wanted to run away.

Lu Yin’s skin was still withering. His entire body was being squeezed, as though a python had coiled around him. Dozens of blades of the Tri-Azure Sword Intent appeared behind him before slashing at the Immortal beast. “Monster, if you have the guts, fight me!”

The Immortal beast was enraged. “Bug. Bug.”

“You’re the bug! Let’s see how big you can get,” Lu Yin taunted.

The beast’s Lifeforce abruptly retracted, followed by its body growing endlessly.

This was the exact outcome that Lu Yin had wanted to see. The beast’s size was the cosmic law that it aligned with, just like how the droplet creature’s droplets that filled the Aevum Inch was its own. Lu Yin wanted to see which law would prevail.

Droplets clung to the monster’s hide, and its body also started to wither.

The droplet creature’s body had dissolved into water droplets. The droplets that had appeared were actually the bug’s own body.

Relief washed over Lu Yin. The Immortal monster had just taken on a great deal of Lu Yin’s burden for him.

He did not dare to enter the Primordial card, as doing so would leave the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage free to attack the karmic wall. On top of that, Lu Yin could not continue weaving karma from inside the card.

He was a vast distance from where Ku Deng was fighting. On his own, it would take Lu Yin at least ten days to reach Ku Deng, though with Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s help, it could be done within just a day or two. That meant that Lu Yin had to endure the current situation for another day or two.

Inside of Shan Barrens, the humanoid Verdant Sage stared at the endless white and lashed out...

Outside of the Tianyuan, the Immortal beast grew larger and larger. There was no end in sight. It seemed as if the monster wanted to outgrow the cosmos itself, surpassing even the Aevum Inch.

Naturally, that was impossible, but even the attempt to do so aligned with the law that the monster had chosen.

The most frustrated individual on the battlefield at this moment was the droplet Verdant Sage. It was not aligned to the law of growth, so the bigger that the beast became, the more droplets that stuck to it, which continued to alleviate the pressure on Lu Yin. The Verdant Sage was effectively fighting against both the Immortal monster and Lu Yin.

With no other choice, the droplets gathered together, and the bug’s body reformed.

The Immortal beast completely ignored the bug and continued to grow.
