Chapter 3888: The Immovable Skyveil Formation
Chapter 3888: The Immovable Skyveil Formation
Li Guo just shrugged. “As long as we follow the rules, the means don’t matter.”
“I agree. Unfortunately for you, I have no grudge against them.”
“I can reward you.”
“No, Senior, you can’t.”
“You came to me for such things in the first place.”
Lu Yin looked at Li Guo seriously. “The fact that I’m not stopping you from getting revenge is already a kindness to you.”
Li Guo stared at Lu Yin in a daze. What a domineering kid, threatening me with simply “not stopping” my revenge.
Lu Yin met Li Guo’s gaze. Unless he was before an Immortal, Lu Yin rarely ended up on the back foot when interacting with others anymore. Besides that, Li Guo had no intention of doing anything at all. He was testing Lu Yin, though on whose behalf remained unclear.
While Lu Yin had never met Li Guo before, he did trust Deathmound.
Chao Yi, Long Yin, and Gu Jing had all made it clear that Deathmound was not a group that behaved shamelessly.
Deathmound would protect its own, but within limits. They were willing to act shamelessly, but never despicably.
If Li Guo was actually someone willing to resort to such tactics, he would have never been able to stay in Skyveil City for so long, nor remain a part of Deathmound.
After staring at Lu Yin for a moment, the little old man rolled his eyes. “Brat, that kind of talk is a good way to get beaten.”
Lu Yin chuckled, saying nothing more. He had heard such warnings plenty of times before, but others had always ended up being the one beaten.
Li Guo irritably bit into his piece of fruit. “Fine. If you won’t help me, then just forget it. You can leave.”
“I’m not finished yet,” Lu Yin replied.
Li Guo raised an eyebrow. “I can’t answer the question that you want to ask.”
“Who can?”
“The Great Master.”
Lu Yin pondered. Deathmound’s Great Master?
Deathmound consisted of three mountains and seven peaks, but above all of them was the Great Master alone, who oversaw all of Deathmound.
The Great Master’s identity was a mystery. No one knew who they were, or even their cultivation.
People said that the three Greater Sancti took turns overseeing Deathmound, but only the Great Master was able to freely approach the Greater Sancti.
When Lu Yin had encountered the Netherfiends with Gu Jing, the peak lord had told Lu Yin that only the Great Master could tell him about Netherfiends.
It seemed that the Great Master was privy to a great deal of information.
“How can I meet the Great Master?” Lu Yin asked.
Li Guo pointed to the Mother Tree. “Go to Deathmound.”
“What about calling? Do they use communication devices?”
“Of course.”
“Then please make the call.”
“Are you serious?” Li Guo rolled his eyes again. “The Great Master isn’t someone that you just ‘call.’ Mr. Lu, you may very well be invincible below the Immortal realm, but that does not mean that the Great Master is someone whom you can trifle with. Do you really think that unmatched strength is enough to let you do whatever you please in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?”
“That’s not what I meant. If it isn’t possible to call them with a communication device, then I’ll just go to Deathmound,” Lu Yin replied.
Li Guo nodded. “That’s better. If you want to meet the Great Master, then you need to go to Deathmound. Otherwise, unless the Great Master takes the initiative to reach out to you, it’s just as difficult to see the Greater Sancti.”
The old man’s eyes then suddenly lit up. “Of course, if you’re willing to pay a certain price, I can take the initiative and try to get in contact with the Great Master on your behalf to see if they are willing to speak with you.”
Lu Yin arched a brow. “What’s your price? If it’s what we just spoke about, just forget it.”
Li Guo grabbed another fruit and tossed it over to Lu Yin. “Why do you want Cheng Gong’s corpse?”
Lu Yin was surprised. “You know about that, Senior?”
“Don’t joke around. The men I sent were scared off by the ones that you sent. How could I not know?” Li Guo said while helplessly complaining.
Lu Yin grew puzzled. “Then why do you want Cheng Gong’s corpse, Senior?”
Li Guo stared at Lu Yin. “The Cheng family’s method of carving spirit treasure formations is with Cheng Gong’s corpse.”
Lu Yin did not deny it. “What do you know about that, Senior?”
“I don’t know anything, which is why I’m asking you. You spent so much time in the Cheng family’s estate that you must have figured things out, though you clearly weren’t able to learn their technique. Why else would you want Cheng Gong’s corpse? Let’s not try to hide anything from each other. I’m certain that some sort of medium is needed to master the carving method, right?” Li Guo asked.
Lu Yin looked deeply at Li Guo. “That’s right.”
Li Guo leaned closer. “That medium is on Cheng Gong.”
Lu Yin nodded. “The Void Wall.”
“The Void Wall?”
“That’s right. The medium that you’re referring to is called the Void Wall, and it’s something that can only be found in the Skyveil Megaverse. When the Skyveil Megaverse’s legacy was scattered across the West Domain, the Cheng family monopolized the Void Wall. A second piece has never been found, and the only one is currently with Cheng Gong.”
Li Guo laughed heartily. “Just as I thought! There’s no spirit treasure formation that I can’t master! How else could the Cheng family have monopolized the carving method? No wonder! Hahaha!”
Lu Yin was curious about something. “Does that mean that you’ve already figured out the methods of the Yu and Jue families?”
Li Guo proudly replied, “Of course! Neither of those two clans can hide anything from me! However, they’re also not as simple as you believe.”
“How so?” Lu Yin wanted to know about this. Naturally, he knew that he had not seen everything that the two families possessed. While their Script Arrays and the Linear Insight were solid enough to secure the families’ status in the West Domain, neither could be considered a decisive trump card.
For example, Baisha Tiancheng had instantly carved nineteen sourcebox arrays, but neither the Yu nor the Jue families had revealed anything similar. That made absolutely no sense.
Skyveil City was known as the strongest faction in the West Domain, equal to the East Domain’s Dream Dominion, the South Domain’s Scion Spire, and the North Domain’s Rift of Suffering. It was impossible for Skyveil City to be as simple as what Lu Yin had seen, especially since it was the three clans’ combined power that provided the vast majority of Skyveil City’s strength.
Lu Yin knew that both the Yu and Jue families were hiding things, but he had not tried to dig too deeply. Regardless of what power they may have kept concealed, nothing they had could surpass Lu Yin’s strength. However, if it was possible to learn the clans’ secrets from Li Guo, Lu Yin would at least be able to satisfy his curiosity.
The old man studied Lu Yin. “You’ve already visited both clans. What? You didn’t figure it out?”
Lu Yin shook his head.
Li Guo put on an air of mystery. “What do you know about the Skyveil Megaverse?”
“I don’t.”
“During that war, five Night Pillars were sent to defeat the Skyveil Megaverse, and yet they still suffered catastrophic losses. Only after Greater Sancte Blood Tower personally joined the expedition were the Nine Odysseys able to break through that megaverse’s defenses and destroy it. However, even Greater Sancte Blood Tower paid a price. He was injured.”
Lu Yin was surprised. “Greater Sancte Blood Tower was injured? Did the Skyveil Megaverse have its own Immortal?”
While Lu Yin already knew that Blood Tower had been injured during a war against a foreign megaverse, he had never heard the details.
Li Guo replied, “No. If the Skyveil Megaverse had managed to give rise to an Immortal, that war would have ended far differently. They were just a hair’s breadth away from reaching that level, just the same as the Mindscape Megaverse, but they fell short by the tiniest bit.
“Throughout the history of our Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s conquests, many of the megaverses that we fought against could have produced Immortals. All of them fell just one step short. The fact that our megaverse still has three Greater Sancti is already an incredible blessing. Without them, we might not have lasted this long.”
At this point, the old man looked back at Skyveil City. “The reason why the Skyveil Megaverse managed to injure Greater Sancte Blood Tower was thanks to a spirit treasure formation, and not a simple one.
“The Immovable Skyveil Formation.”
“It was known as the strongest spirit treasure formation in the Skyveil Megaverse. They used just that formation alone to injure Greater Sancte Blood Tower. They managed to harm an Immortal cultivator without themselves reaching that level. You should understand just how difficult that is. Even if people say that your strength makes you invincible, could you really claim to be able to injure Greater Sancte Blood Tower?”
Lu Yin immediately shook his head. It was possible, provided that he had Immortal matter. By combining that with karma and the power of Word Manifestation, it would not be impossible to injure an Immortal, but that was not something that Lu Yin could say aloud.
“If even you are unable to do that, then you should be able to imagine just how formidable the Immovable Skyveil Formation was.
“Truthfully, the formation didn’t even have any intrinsic power in and of itself. It emphasized the concept of being ‘veiled,’ serving as both a formation and a shield. It was a shield that could stack countless spirit treasure formations. The harder the shield, the more formations that could be contained. When they were released, the greater the number, the greater the burst of power.
“Back then, when the Skyveil Megaverse unleashed their Immovable Skyveil Formation, they created the most magnificent moment of that entire war—they injured Greater Sancte Blood Tower. That’s also why that megaverse came to be known as the Skyveil Megaverse. Of course, that was also the last bit of that megaverse’s strength. After they used it, all that awaited them was annihilation.
“The reason why the Skyveil Vein was dragged to the West Domain wasn’t just because we wanted to save their carving method, but also because of the Immovable Skyveil Formation itself. The Greater Sancti hoped that we could master the spirit treasure formation and turn it into a tool to deal with Immortals.”
Lu Yin took a deep breath. The Immovable Skyveil Formation? So, there really is such a powerful spirit treasure formation.
The method of carving spirit treasure formations had been enough for the Skyveil Megaverse to stand against five Night Pillars. In particular, as long as one could simultaneously release enough arrays, the carving method could stand against even the most powerful experts.
The Immovable Skyveil Formation had been powerful enough to serve as the trump card of an entire civilization.
It was no wonder why the Skyveil Megaverse had been so difficult to defeat.
Li Guo’s voice dropped low. “The Jue family... has already mastered the Immovable Skyveil Formation.”
Lu Yin was surprised. “The Jue family has mastered that formation?”
Li Guo sneered. “The Jue family thinks that no one knows about it, but they underestimate people. They might be able to fool everyone else, but not me! As for whether the Cheng and Yu families knew, I’m not sure. It’s likely that they did.”
“How did you find out, Senior?” Lu Yin was curious. If the Jue family had wanted to keep such a thing secret, it could not have been easy to discover, especially since Li Guo had been out of Skyveil City for so long. The Jue family was not run by fools.
Li Guo asked, “Do you remember the Spirit Treasure Guild?”
Lu Yin’s eyes flashed. “The Spirit Treasure Guild belongs to the Jue family?”
Li Guo smiled. “That’s right.”
Lu Yin immediately connected the dots. “Spiritual threads haven’t actually been used up that quickly. That’s what they claim, but the truth is that the Jue family has been secretly gathering it to keep the Immovable Skyveil Formation’s danger zone concealed.”
Li Guo was puzzled. “Spiritual thread? Are you talking about spirit veils?”
Lu Yin nodded.
Li Guo looked back at Skyveil City once more. “That’s right. The Spirit Treasure Guild has been deliberately spreading news that they are running out of spirit veils, quietly hinting at a shortage. While this initially looks like it would hurt them, the reality is that the rumors were spread to hide the fact that the Jue family has been taking them.
“Ask yourself this—who would suspect a company that built its fortune on spirit veils to deliberately manufacture a shortage that undermines their very foundation? What no one knows is that the company itself is just a front. Their true purpose is to conceal the Jue family’s massive consumption of spirit veils, as their only use is to mask spirit treasures’ danger fields.
“You never felt an immense danger zone while visiting the Jue family, did you? They’re cautious, that’s for sure. Still, they’ve never considered that I’ve been studying the Immovable Skyveil Formation this entire time.
“When it comes to understanding the Immovable Skyveil Formation, the Jue family may be first, but I’m second. They could think of using spirit veils to hide the formation, but so could I. With that, I followed the clues to the Spirit Treasure Guild and ultimately confirmed it.”
He looked at Lu Yin. “None of Skyveil City’s three great clans are simple. If Baisha Tiancheng had managed to become a peak Dukkhan, he would not have merely carved nineteen formations instantaneously. There were once experts in the Skyveil Megaverse who could instantly unleash thirty formations, and even more. The Jue family possesses the Immovable Skyveil Formation. If they unleash it, Mr. Lu, are you confident that you would survive?”
