Chapter 518 – “I am going to ask you for a painting of little soup dumplings for hanging up in the living room.” (1)
Huo ChuChu changed into her slippers and started walking inside.
Old Mrs. Huo immediately followed behind her, cane in hand. Even her hands were shaking a little. “How come you didn’t take any pictures? Didn’t your mom specifically tell you to take some pictures to show us before you left?”
Huo ChuChu stopped suddenly and didn’t even know what kind of a look she should put on.
“It was a newborn. Everybody just went over to congratulate them. Nobody took any pictures.”
“Chuchu, you can’t talk to your grandmother like that.”
Mother Huo, coming down from the second floor, heard Huo ChuChu as soon as she opened her door.
When she walked out, Huo ChuChu could see clearly that her mother, too, was wearing a festive red dress.
As though the birth of the child was also a festive event for their family.
Both of them had dressed up properly as though they were elders who had just gained a grandson and a great grandson. Both of them dressed up festively.
Nevertheless, these two who had specifically put on make up and formal outfits, neither one of them had gone to the hospital. They could only wait at home… for a picture.
Huo ChuChu felt her heart ached and bitter and mournful.
She couldn’t understand why, even to this date, that the two of them couldn’t just let bygone be bygone!
Was the fact that her Big Brother was able to get married and have a child a proof that he was not a walking curse?
Was it that difficult for them to apologize for their own behaviors?
“What I am saying is the truth.”
Huo ChuChu’s neck stiffened.
“Even celebrities won’t let others take pictures of their newborns.”
“ChuChu!”
Mother Huo frowned disapprovingly.
“Mother of ChuChu, she is right. I shouldn’t have asked.”
Old Mrs. Huo, on the other hand, nodded when she heard what Huo ChuChu said.
“You shouldn’t take pictures on the first day. The child is still young. He’s precious. We wouldn’t want to him startled.
“The child’s parents are strict. It was right for them to not allow pictures. Otherwise, anyone would be able to take pictures of the child and post them online or to whatever that friend’s circle thing is. The child birth time will be known to all.”
Having said that, Old Mrs. Huo sat down on the couch.
As much as she had said that, she still looked very disappointed for not being able to see pictures of the child.
She was, however, able to adjust her emotions by the time Mother Huo walked over to the couch. In fact, she had held onto Huo ChuChu’s hand with anticipation and had her sat down next to her.
“How’s the child, ChuChu? How heavy is he? Is he more like his mom or his dad?”
The old lady asked as though she could picture the look of the child from Huo ChuChu’s answers.
Huo ChuChu struggled to say, “He’s too small. I can’t tell yet.”
The old lady nodded again. “Right. He’s a newborn and all his features are bunched together. It will get better over time. Both his parents are okay looking people. I have seen pictures of the Gu girl. Both her look and body are pretty good and she has a healthy glow to her, which was why we accepted the Gu’s proposition. I am sure this child will grow up to be a handsome one.”
Having said that, she started smiling to herself.
“So, how heavy is the child? You haven’t told me that yet, ChuChu.”
Mother Huo, sitting on the right side of the couch, couldn’t help but interjected.
Huo ChuChu pursed her lips and sounded somewhat reluctant. “I think 6.6 lbs or so. I don’t remember the details.”
“Oh, you… how could you not be able to remember such things?”
Mother Huo was taken aback a little.
Old Mrs. Huo, however, was very pleased. “6.6 lbs is good. She gave birth early, right? By my calculation, she was two weeks early.”
Huo ChuChu rolled her eyes secretly and grumbled softly, “You sure know all about it just from sitting at home.”
Why did you track “someone’s” child so much… … what did that have to do with them?
