Chapter 291 - Foothold (立足之地)
291- Foothold (立足之地)
Although Jing Xiu and Jing Ming Kai lived in the same household, the environment they grew up in was different, with Jing Xiu suffering way more compared to Jing Ming Kai at a young age.
Since Jing Ming Kai was still a young child who couldn’t differentiate between right and wrong, his daily life was still roughly the same as before even if some parents told their children to not associate themselves with him. The only problem was that he felt that he was mistreated, which resulted with him causing a ruckus everyday at his relatives place, causing them to be extremely annoyed with him to the point that they started to implement a certain type of ‘education’ that involves beatings.
On the other hand. While Jing Xiu’s classmates were mature enough to differentiate between right and wrong, they were also at the age where they were more cynical compared to others, resulting in Jing Xiu being ostracized in school.
With her parents in jail, even if Jing Xiu was well-behaved and had no faults, she was still considered a malicious person by everybody else.
When she goes to school, people would stuff bugs into her bags; when she leaves her seat, her books would be thrown away, causing her everyday life to be a living hell.
When Jing Yun Zhao heard of this matter, she sent Du Lin to bring her out from Shui Chang Village.
Jing Yun Zhao wanted to go there personally, however since so many people were watching her in Hua Ning County, all of them would scrutinize Shui Chang Village if she were to visit.
Because Jing Yun Zhao lived in an inconvenient place, Jing Xiu was brought to the Du Family to stay for the time being, and when night fell, Jing Yun Zhao rushed there as soon as possible.
Jing Xiu was still wearing her school uniform, but the back of her uniform was splashed with black ink by her classmates; her hair was a mess and when she saw Jing Yun Zhao, she shivered in fear as she looked thinner compared to last time.
“If I were you…” Du Lin shook his head, thinking that he wouldn’t be concerned about Jing Xiu if it were him.
It wasn’t because he was a cruel person, but rather he was thinking about this matter logically.
Look at how the Jing Family treated Jing Yun Zhao, and now she wants to look after the daughter of the Jing Family? Is she too kind to the point of naivety?
“You’re not like me, do you know what I see when I look at Jing Xiu? I see the old me in her.
Her situation, her life, was the same as Jing Yun Zhao’s past life.
How much did Jing Yun Zhao wish that someone would’ve helped her, even if it was momentarily? If only someone had helped her and directed her towards the correct path, she wouldn’t have been so scared and timid, suffering and accepting the many years of abuse by the Qiao Family.
The Jing Family is the Jing Family, while Jing Xiu is her own self, this was something Jing Yun Zhao could differentiate clearly.
Jing Ming Kai and Jing Ling were people that lacked tolerance and had impulsive personalities; they would clearly suffer while living with their relatives in the future with personalities like theirs. However even if the 2 siblings were ruined in the future with no hope of making a comeback, she wouldn’t even bat an eye.
As for Jing Tie Jun and Wang Xin Fang, who are they?
Life will not be easy for them while they’re in prison and five years later, they’ll be even worse off compared to now; their body won’t be as healthy and strong in five years; their relatives won’t help them anymore; their neighbors too will ignore them, one can only imagine how much they’ll suffer in the future.
Du Lin was left speechless after listening to Jing Yun Zhao, but he still knew what she meant in his heart as he let Jing Yun Zhao and Jing Xiu converse.
“Jing Xiu.” Jing Yun Zhao called out.
Jing Xiu raised her head and replied while trembling, “Big Sis Yun Zhao…”
“I just wanted to talk to you, ask you some questions… have you ever thought about your future?” Jing Yun Zhao simply said.
Jing Xiu shook her head.
Jing Yun Zhao wasn’t surprised by her reaction as she chuckled and replied, “How about I help you imagine your future?”
“Currently, everybody is against you and you’re not accepted by anyone in your school; although your results were good, but since you’ve been distracted so much lately, you can’t even answer the questions given by the teacher. Situations like this will keep on occurring and it’ll pile up like a snowball rolling down a hill which may cause you to fail your high school entrance exams, causing you to enroll in an ordinary highschool, and just when you thought you could have a fresh start in that highschool… you realize that everybody still recognizes you since the highschool isn’t far from Hua Ning County, and by then you’ll still be in the same situation as you are in currently, no friends…. No family…”
