Chapter 241 - 241 Cooking
241 Cooking
Bai Xi’s idea of earning money was almost crushed at once.
On the second day after running to the job fair, her feet were in so much pain that she couldn’t lift them, so she had to wear winter plush slippers.
This was the first time she had walked so far in high heels, and she had been pushed and shoved along the way, making her feel very aggrieved. In the morning, Dong Feng and Chuchu came to pick Chen En up. The house was very quiet.
Bai Xi didn’t want to get out of bed. She slept all the way until noon. She felt sore all over and her head was uncomfortable. However, there was no nanny at home. No one could help her bring the facial mask and skincare products into her room, and no one could warm a glass of milk for her to cheer her up for the day.
Bai Xi only felt the house was unusually quiet and the space was unusually large.
She used to think this house was too small and crowded, causing the air to be blocked and a muffled and humid smell. She had never felt she had to take so many steps to leave the bedroom.
She walked to the bathroom and looked at the messy clothes she had changed out of yesterday. She felt both stressed and happy.
For Bai Xi, this was a scene that would only appear in movies. Her clothes were messily placed in the laundry basket, and the water stains from last night’s washing were still there. There were even some water stains on the floor.
The temperature was high in the summer, and the smell in the bathroom was not the familiar fragrance she was familiar with. Instead, it was a kind of unpleasant smell of sweat. Chen En had probably had too much fun yesterday. He was sweating profusely, and even his vest was soaked in sweat.
Usually, by this time, the housekeepers would have already cleaned up the bathroom.
Just like the rooms in a hotel, everything was always orderly and clean. There was no imperfection at all. It was as if she had been staying outside all this time, with no room for her to relax at all.
However, she didn’t know how to wash these expensive clothes.
She threw all the clothes into the washing machine.
At this time, Bai Xi remembered that the housekeepers usually put in some care liquid when they washed clothes.
When she opened the cabinet under the sink, she saw a dozen bottles of washing liquid of different sizes neatly placed in front of her.
It was almost all Japanese, Korean, and English, so Bai Xi couldn’t read it.
She could smell it, but when the housekeeper left, she seemed to have expected that she wouldn’t be back in a short time. There was some detergent that she couldn’t open even if she twisted the lid.
It was almost one o’clock in the afternoon. Bai Xi felt her vision go dark, and her low blood sugar was acting up again.
Thinking that there probably wouldn’t be much difference if it was detergent, Bai Xi poured in a little of what she could twist open. She didn’t care how much, eating was the top priority now.
Qu Zhi had long predicted Bai Xi wouldn’t buy vegetables, so the day before yesterday, she had asked Dong Feng to send Bai Xi some necessary vegetables and meat, as well as some rice, oil, and salt.
Dong Feng had a good eye. He knew that Bai Xi was not the kind of woman who did housework, so he brought her a few bags of instant noodles.
However, he still overestimated Bai Xi.
Bai Yan did not even know how to turn on the gas.
She turned on the valve for a long time, but she couldn’t see the fire at the bottom of the pot. However, she was also afraid the fire would burst out and burn her fingers which she had carefully taken care of for more than ten years.
However, how could she not know how to cook when she was alone outside?
Bai Xi firmly believed the gas stove was broken, but it didn’t matter. She still had an induction stove at home.
This stove was simpler and could be used by plugging in electricity, so it was not very dangerous.
Fortunately, the stove did not disappoint her. The fire was lit.
Originally-Bai Xi wanted to fry an egg for herself, but she found that she couldn’t control the heat. She watched helplessly as an egg turned from a small sun that was flowing with a heart-wrenching liquid into a charred one. The entire thing was crackling in the pot, and the oil was splashing everywhere. Bai Xi did not even have the courage to pick up the spatula.
In the end, Bai Xi could only throw away the pot of dark cuisine in the smoky kitchen.
Then, she set up the pot again and cooked a bowl of instant noodles for herself.
That night, Chen En returned home for dinner. As soon as he took his first step into the house, he could not help but take a deep breath. “Mommy, something in the pot is burnt!”
Then Bai Xi walked out with him apologetically. “Shall we go out to eat at McDonald’s today?”
