Chapter 297: An Accident (3)
Remaining on Xiao Mengmeng’s back, Yao Qinghan showed everyone the wild fruit she had picked as if it were a treasure.
The fruit was almost similar to a snake fruit, but not as big.
“Doesn’t it look nice?” Yao Qinghan asked, amused. For a moment, she forgot how painful her ankle was.
Ye Tianxin helped Yao Qinghan off Xiao Mengmeng’s back. Yao Qinghan’s ankle was slightly swollen, so the girls helped Yao Qinghan back into the cell.
The moment they entered the cell, the wind started to blow harder.
The violent winds blew at the trees. The weeds swayed in the darkness. Furthermore, as the wind and rain struck the window, loud crashing sounds could be heard.
“Why is this place so scary? It feels as if we have come to some scary abandoned island.”
Ye Tianxin looked at Wei Weiwei. “Are you, by any chance, afraid?”
“Aren’t you scared?” Wei Weiwei had only just spoken when the light above them was suddenly extinguished.
Mu Yuluo could not resist cursing out loud. “Damn it! Why did the power have to go out now!”
“Nobody’s been to this cell in a long time. The wiring is old, and maybe the circuit is broken somewhere.”
Ji Nuan looked up, puzzled. She had specially gone to check the wiring in the cell. There had not been any problems.
Why did the power go off suddenly?
“Well, since the power has already gone off, why don’t we just use the fire tonight? Let’s eat and go to bed early.”
Ji Nuan looked at Ye Tianxin whose face was lit up by the fire. “I will go and take a look.”
“Ji Nuan, you don’t have to go. You don’t have any tools with you. What are we going to do if you get injured?” Ye Tianxin considered the situation and refused to let Ji Nuan go and check the wiring. “Let’s just make do for the night.”
“How about we tell ghost stories?” Yao Qinghan suggested as she bit into the snake fruit.
Wei Weiwei agreed with Yao Qinghan. “Sure! Let me go first. I gotta tell you guys, I know a lot of ghost stories. I dreamed of becoming an author when I was a child.”
Wei Weiwei cleared her throat, and her face turned serious.
“This story happened on an abandoned island,” Wei Weiwei began. “The only difference was that there was a holiday house on this island. The holiday house was usually taken care of by a mute man and his blind wife. One day, a group of high school seniors came to this island on a school trip. When they first set off, the skies had been clear and it had been sunny. However, when they arrived on the island, the weather changed.”
Yao Qinghan was so frightened that she leaned closer to Mu Yuluo. Mu Yuluo bore with it and did not push her away.
“There were a total of 50 students in the class. That night, one person went missing.”
“I know. The person who went missing is the killer,” Xiao Mengmeng interrupted. “Weiwei, this story isn’t scary. I have heard many ghost stories in the past. Take for example the village under the mountain where I live. Every 15th day of the month, when the moon is round, all the villagers would shut their doors tightly and hang three sticks of incense in front of their door.”
“Why?” Ji Nuan asked, curious.
“You all do not know, there are many families like ours out there. People do not go out because the village turns into a ghost town on the 15th of every month. I went there once when I was a child. It was really bustling.”
“A ghost city?” Wei Weiwei repeated. “What does a ghost city look like?”
“It’s quite beautiful, but if you ask me to elaborate, I’m sorry. I can’t remember anymore. I heard the older generation say that those who have been to the ghost city usually cannot remember how it looks like. I don’t know why either.”
“Aah!” Yao Qinghan’s shrill scream pierced through the air.
