Refining the Mountains and Rivers

Chapter 1067 – Look At the Abyss

Chapter 1067 – Look At the Abyss

Four days after the Demon Dragon Elder left Great Deer City, an ordinary black iron carriage quietly drove out of the city.

The one driving the carriage was an unsmiling middle-aged man. His expression was cold and he looked straight ahead. Occasionally he glanced around, light bursting out in his eyes.

Behind the carriage was an old man of the Demon Fox Clan riding atop a horned horse. He wore ordinary blue robes and had a sack slung across his back. He had the appearance of a steward or even an accountant.

Great Deer City which had survived a disaster and the demons who lived within had no idea that those who helped them make it through had quietly left.

Of course, to be more exact, the reason they encountered such a terrifying catastrophe-level beast tide was also because of them.

So Qin Yu never thought of harvesting any gratitude from Great Deer City, nor did he take anything from them. Since Feature wanted to see the wider abyss world, he would simply depart.

The seemingly ordinary carriage was spacious and comfortable inside. A thick demon beast pelt was laid down across the floor.

In front of a large and soft couch, there was a table carefully carved from abyssal ink jade. It was crafted into the carriage and wouldn’t shake with any movements or bumps.

There was a quietly burning oil lamp on the exquisite surface of the table. The lamp oil was pure and transparent, and when it burned, it exuded a fresh and invigorating fragrance.

Mian Ya wore maid robes of the demon race. She half knelt down, and when she looked at the two people sitting on both sides of the table, her lips subconsciously twitched.

This level was truly rotten…

“That’s not right, I didn’t make the right move. I’m going to take it back a step.” Feature yelled as she picked up a chess piece.

Qin Yu rubbed his forehead, “If you continue playing like this, there really will be no way to play chess.”

Feature curled her lips, disdain on her face, “Can you even be counted as a man? I just want to take back my last move, yet you can’t even agree to something so simple?”

Qin Yu’s face darkened. “One move? Hoho, from the time the game started, you have already taken back 13 moves. And you’re still asking if I am a man? To begin with, this has nothing to do with being a man. You have simply gone way too far.”

Mian Ya gently nodded, looking at Qin Yu with a bit of sympathy. Playing chess with such an opponent was truly torturous.

But she never imagined that her discreet actions would be sensed by Feature. Feature widened her eyes and wickedly glared at her, “What are you nodding for? You smelly servant girl, don’t forget your current status, otherwise I’ll have you warming Qin Yu’s bed tonight!”

Mian Ya flushed red and lowered her head. Then she looked up at Qin Yu with warm and watery eyes.

This nine-tailed demon fox woman, what are you looking at me for? It’s not like I’m the one who said anything to you…and the look in your eyes isn’t suitable at all.

Qin Yu’s complexion darkened even further. He pointed a finger at the window. The special demon crystal-forged windows were dark on the outside, but one could clearly see out from inside.

“This lake isn’t bad…”

Feature threw down the chess piece and sat up. “Where? I’m going to take a look!” Her entire body almost lay flat over Qin Yu’s face. He had to move back for a while to avoid his entire field of vision being filled by her twin peaks.

Qin Yu coughed, “If you want to take a look then go and take a look. There’s no need to be so excited!”

Feature rolled her eyes and muttered something beneath her breath. Then, she stood up straight with her hands on her hips and laughed out loud, “Very well. I announce that we will be stopping here today and having a barbecue while facing the lake! The taste will simply be amazing! Stop the carriage! Stop the carriage!”

She shouted as she slapped the carriage door.

The carriage came to a stop and was opened from the outside. Feature leapt out hollering, “Qin Yu, Qin Yu, hurry and come down, this scenery is too wonderful!”

Pretending that he didn’t see Mian Ya’s increasingly piteous expression, Qin Yu quickly responded and came out. He glanced around. The lake wasn’t too large and there were some trees and vegetation. The scenery was average and could barely be considered beautiful. Why did Feature have such an exaggerated reaction over this?

But this trip was to accompany her in relaxing to begin with. Since she wanted to stop here, then he’d do that.

The carriage stopped beside the lake. The carriage driver was quick with his hands and feet and soon opened up some chairs and a round table. Even a soft blanket was laid across the ground.

After respectfully bowing, he turned and started walking towards the lake. Since Feature said that she wanted a barbecue, there naturally had to be the freshest food.

Puff –

The carriage driver plunged into the lake.

If people were to see the former master of Great Deer City’s Merry Forest, the desperado Black Astral who ruled over millions of people, doing what he did now, their eyes would likely pop out from their heads.

But if there was something to contrast it with then this sight wouldn’t be considered anything at all. Because Old Fox, who once managed the Thousand Eye Temple branch division in Great Deer City, was laughing loudly as he set up a barbecue pit and started preparing all the necessary materials.

Although it had been many years since he personally cooked food, since Miss Feature had requested it, he would naturally do his best to achieve it.

Hoho, it had to be known that when he was young, he had top skills in cooking. Using this skill, he captured the hearts of many young and ignorant demon girls.

Of course, he also obtained other things, but this was an ordinary story so there was no need to speak much about it.

Something seemed to move in the shadow of the carriage. It squirmed a few times before it began walking over the ground.

Since they had stopped here, he had to investigate the surrounding environment lest Miss Feature’s interest be ruined.

Shadowless Demon turned his head and glanced at the young man and woman standing at the lakeside. Without a doubt, he was dead set on following Qin Yu. But in his heart, Miss Feature had a status no less than Qin Yu.

Maybe it was even a little bit higher?

Because this was a legendary woman filled with all sorts of colors and wonders. She was so formidable that even an Elder of the Demon Dragon Clan had to maintain respect in front of her.

That’s right, it was respect.

Shadowless Demon had an extremely strong ability to sense the moods and emotions of others. So, he was able to read Ao Fa’s mood from his minor changes in expression. Disregarding all else, just this point alone was enough for him to endlessly flatter her.

Soon, Black Astral emerged from the lake holding a dragon fish and a giant red-backed prawn in each hand. Although they had been killed, the two demon beast corpses still exuded powerful demonic energy fluctuations. It was clear that they had been tyrannically strong.

Even so, they had no ability to resist when facing a Demon Commander. With a neat chop they were finished, and almost no waves appeared on the surface of the lake.

Shadowless Demon quietly returned to the carriage’s shadow. However, there were several more dead demon beasts lying on the ground, all of them incredible cooking ingredients.

Old Fox started busying himself. He ran a bit away and started skinning and gutting the demon beasts, stringing them up and setting them over the fire. Soon, a wonderful fragrance filled the air.

Feature picked up a skewer of grilled shrimp and took a bite. Her eyes widened and she nodded at Old Fox. “Delicious, absolutely delicious. Old Fox, your craftsmanship is incredible. It’s a pity that you didn’t open up your own shop!”

Mian Ya quietly rolled her eyes. She thought that only this great miss could be at a high enough level to have a Demon Commander level powerhouse do something like this.

Open a barbecue shop? Let alone that being impossible, but even if he did open one, who would dare go there to spend money!?

Hiss –

After eating a mouthful, it was still a bit hot. But the taste was wonderful and the meat contained a strong demonic energy.

I eat, I eat, I eat it all!

This could also be considered a cultivation session…only those who had three Demonic Commander level servants could easily enjoy this sort of high-quality food. Of course she couldn’t miss out on such a chance.

Old Fox beamed with joy at the praise. He said he had practiced cooking for some time when he was young, and that as long as Miss Feature liked it, he could cook anything for her.

Black Astral narrowed his eyes, his face still cold and expressionless. But, he couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Who didn’t know that this fellow had trained hard in the past to woo the hearts of demon girls? And who would have thought that he would have another chance to display his skills today.

This old fox…hehe, he really knew how to make the best of things!

While there were no stars, sun, or moon in the abyss, it was still divided into yin, yang, and twilight. As the bottom of the upper abyss layer turned dark, night would arrive.

In the dimly glowing lake, an unknown type of flower unexpectedly bloomed. They shined with dim halos, deep blue and clear, as if they were little whirlpools that were dyed the color of the sea. It was surprisingly beautiful.

Feature ate her fill and patted her belly. Then, she plopped backwards on a soft blanket and stared at the flowers, a surprised look on her face.

Qin Yu walked over, “I just asked what they are called, and it seems it’s just an ordinary abyss plant. They blossom at night and close in the morning. Do you need to have such an astonished expression?”

Feature humphed twice and said humorlessly, “Oh, Great Mister Qin is so knowledgeable and wise. Could it be that you've come to the abyss before?”

Qin Yu’s face darkened. He realized that Feature’s ability to irritate others had become increasingly potent. He coldly sneered, flicked his sleeves, and walked away.

He drew back a distance and sat down on a chair. His eyes fell on Feature as she lay on the ground and there was a warmth and gentleness in his eyes.

He could feel that Feature was truly joyful right now. Although he had no idea what happened, it was fine as long as she was happy.

Ten days…

After today, half the time would have passed. When the time came, would Feature abide by her promise and tell him everything?

As Qin Yu’s thoughts were racing, sounds came from the distance. A group of demons soon appeared in his line of sight.
