Chapter 2633: Fire Her

Chapter 2633: Chapter 2633: Fire Her

Jung Lian turned his gaze toward the so-called "trespassers," and his expression instantly shifted into one of clear surprise.

"Miss Yu Qi... you have come to visit today." Jung Lian greeted Yu Qi respectfully, slightly bowing his head.

Chen Meili was completely stunned when she saw Jung Lian’s respectful attitude toward Yu Qi.

"This Chen Meili... does she not recognise Chairwoman Tang?"

"That’s right... It is clearly Chairwoman Tang who has come to inspect the greenhouse."

"How dare she say Chairwoman Tang came here to have an affair with that old man?"

Chen Meili’s triumphant smirk froze instantly before slowly crumbling apart. She heard the whispers among her co-workers, each word striking her like a heavy hammer against her chest. She turned to look at Yu Qi, her mind racing wildly as countless chaotic thoughts clashed within her.

"Chairwoman...?" Chen Meili whispered faintly, her heart dropping straight into her stomach as dread began to take hold.

Yu Qi shifted her gaze calmly between Jung Lian and the trembling Chen Meili, her expression unreadable.

"Brother Jung, it seems your assistant supervisor has a very vivid imagination.. She accused me of being a mistress of this man." Yu Qi said calmly, pointing lightly at Grandpa Mu.

Jung Lian frowned deeply the moment Yu Qi mentioned that accusation. He immediately turned toward Chen Meili, his expression darkening.

"What have you done?" Jung Lian asked sternly.

"I... I did not... I just..." Chen Meili stammered, her words tumbling over each other as panic set in.

"You spoke so viciously earlier. Why are you stammering at this moment?" Yu Qi scoffed coldly, her gaze sharp.

"I just thought..." Chen Meili tried desperately to redeem herself, her voice trembling.

"You did not think." Yu Qi interrupted coldly, cutting her off without hesitation. "You saw an opportunity to bully someone you believed was beneath you. In my greenhouse, we value professionalism and integrity. We do not employ people who spend their working hours spreading malicious gossip and insulting guests."

Yu Qi then turned her attention toward Jung Lian. She had already made her decision.

"Process her termination immediately. I do not want to see her working here anymore." Yu Qi ordered calmly, yet firmly.

"Yes, Miss Yu Qi." Jung Lian replied without hesitation, nodding decisively.

"Manager Jung, you cannot fire me..." Chen Meili shouted in panic, her voice rising in desperation.

Yu Qi slowly turned back to Chen Meili with an icy and unwavering gaze.

"He cannot fire you, but I can. And I have absolute authority regarding this matter. Even if you beg him, if I say otherwise, he does not have the power to override my decision." Yu Qi stated coldly, making her position unmistakably clear.

Chen Meili’s legs gave way, and she dropped heavily to her knees. Regret flooded her mind. She had been foolish, too reckless with her words. She should never have let her mouth run so freely without thinking.

Grandpa Mu finally let out a soft chuckle, his earlier anger now completely replaced by a sense of pride.

"Well, Yu Qi, you certainly know how to deal with a weed in your garden." Grandpa Mu said, nodding in satisfaction.

As Chen Meili was escorted away by the security guards, who had been called over by Jung Lian, the gathered crowd of workers quickly dispersed in a flurry of movement, suddenly transforming into the most diligent employees in the entire nation.

"I am sorry you had to witness such an unpleasant scene, Grandfather. It seems I need to be more rigorous with the character evaluations during our hiring process." Yu Qi said softly, though her tone still carried a trace of steel beneath it.

"It’s fine. Every forest has a few crooked trees. What matters is how the gardener chooses to handle them. You handled that girl with the dignity and decisiveness of a true leader. I’m quite proud, actually." Grandpa Mu chuckled, waving his hand dismissively.

They spent another thirty minutes wandering through the fruit section together. Both of them carefully selected several ripe fruits and placed them into a basket. They planned to enjoy these fresh fruits later at the Saisei Ryokan.

Once they were satisfied with their selections, they made their way toward the northern wing of the greenhouse, where the air gradually grew cooler and carried a more distinct, earthy fragrance mixed with the medicinal scent of rare flora.

This shift in atmosphere indicated that they had already crossed into the Herbs Section. Soon enough, they spotted Grandpa Tang standing at the centre of a specialised, climate-controlled zone. He was slightly hunched over, intently observing a vibrant, silver-leafed plant.

"Jiang Man, what are you doing?" Grandpa Mu asked curiously.

"I am examining this Luna-Cryst Orchid." Grandpa Tang replied, answering Grandpa Mu’s question without looking away. He then turned toward Yu Qi, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Yu Qi, you don’t tell me that you have successfully cultivated this rare species."

"I don’t know that they succeed. I have not visited the greenhouse for quite some time." Yu Qi replied.

The Herbs Section was Yu Qi’s pride and joy. It housed plant species that were either believed to be extinct or were notoriously difficult to cultivate outside of high-altitude mountain ranges.

Grandpa Tang moved on to observe another plant species nearby.

"This Seven-Star Grass looks exceptionally healthy." Grandpa Tang commented with clear admiration.

He then turned to Grandpa Mu, raising a finger as he pointed toward the lush greenery around them.

"Do you have any idea what she has achieved here, Mu? These herbs form the foundation for the most potent soul-calming tonics in traditional medicine. The purity level is... It’s completely off the charts!" Grandpa Tang exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement.
