Chapter 2606: Celebration
Chapter 2606: Chapter 2606: Celebration
That night, Su Longuo told everyone about what actually happened. The unfair contract... The abuse he had endured at the hands of Manager Kang. In fact, he had even chipped in his own money to make sure the villagers received at least some profit from the sales.
If they had known about the matter earlier, they would have helped think of solutions together instead of letting him shoulder everything alone.
Because of the incident, the villagers decided to celebrate. The atmosphere in Mianxi Village that evening was unlike anything the medical team had ever experienced. It was vibrant, alive with an infectious joy that seemed to ripple through every corner of the square.
Huge wooden tables were dragged into the centre of the village square. The cooking team, assisted by the village women, had truly outdone themselves. The air was thick with the aroma of roasted meats, wild mountain herbs, and freshly steamed rice. But the undisputed stars of the feast were the kiwis.
Su Longuo instructed the villagers to cut some of the fruits from their harvest. They carefully served the medical team with the freshly sliced fruit, insisting that they taste the pride of Mianxi Village.
"Hmm... The kiwi is so good." Nurse Liang Xiuying said with delight.
"That’s right. Its sweetness is very pleasant. Not too sweet, just perfect." Doctor Duan Jiang added with a satisfied nod.
Yu Qi took a bite of the kiwi and paused. Even with her high standards, the taste was staggering. It was not just sweet, but it also carried a crisp, clean energy that seemed to revitalise the body instantly. The spiritual Qi in the soil had concentrated within the fruit, turning it into a literal elixir of health. It possessed the same exceptional quality as the fruits grown in YQ Greenhouse.
"It’s incredible." Yu Qi murmured softly.
"Chief Su, once the QinYue Group sets up the official distribution channels, the world will finally recognise the true value of Mianxi Village." Yu Qi added confidently.
Upon hearing this, everyone began cheering. They raised their glasses and drank together in celebration.
"We didn’t know you were working on something behind the scenes." Nurse Shin Teng remarked.
"It was purely a coincidence that we saw the truck that night. They were acting suspiciously, so I asked my subordinates to check on them. I never expected to uncover such a scheme." Yu Qi explained.
Everyone was having a wonderful time. Some of the villagers began playing music, and the atmosphere grew even livelier. Yu Qi and Long Hui quietly stepped away from the centre of the noise.
They stood near the edge of the square, watching the medical team dance and laugh alongside the locals. Nurse Liang Xiuying was especially busy, enthusiastically teaching a group of village girls a popular dance from the city.
"They look happy." Long Hui said, standing close enough to Yu Qi that their shoulders brushed lightly.
"They are free," Yu Qi corrected softly. "It’s amazing how much a person can flourish once you remove the weeds that have been choking them."
"Hmm... " Long Hui responded thoughtfully.
"Thank you..." Yu Qi stated gently.
"Why the sudden thank you?" Long Hui tilted his head slightly.
Yu Qi leaned her head against his shoulder. "Thank you. Having you here really put my mind at ease while facing those people."
...
The program was finally over. The medical team packed up their equipment and supplies. The villagers repeatedly thanked the team for their hard work and dedication. They also prepared several boxes of fruit from their orchard as gifts of appreciation.
The medical team already knew how delicious the fruits were, so they did not refuse the generous offer.
Su Longuo came to see Yu Qi and Long Hui personally. Once again, he expressed his gratitude for their help in freeing the village from the bully and also for the contract that QinYue Group had provided.
Lei Yingtai had arrived the previous day, bringing the contract for Su Longuo and Yu Qi to sign, marking the official beginning of their partnership. The fruits would be supplied to Yu Qi’s established businesses, such as Saisei Ryokan and Nigeru Koen.
"My employee will take care of the follow-up matters. If anything happens, you can contact me directly." Yu Qi said firmly.
"Yes." Su Longuo nodded respectfully.
"If anyone from Sheng Logistics comes to the village and causes trouble again, report it to the police immediately," Yu Qi instructed.
"I understand," Su Longuo replied with another nod.
However, Yu Qi did not believe Sheng Logistics would be able to cause any more trouble.
Sheng Logistics had originally been founded as a mid-sized transportation firm specialising in "difficult terrain" logistics. They carved out a niche by servicing remote mountain villages and border towns where larger, more reputable companies refused to operate due to high operational costs and risk factors.
At first, people saw them as a "lifeline" for rural provinces, transporting mountain produce to urban markets. However, in reality, they were a predatory monopoly. By positioning themselves as the only company willing to navigate broken roads and treacherous routes, they effectively "held the keys" to a village’s economic survival.
Yu Qi had read the information about Sheng Logistics from the investigation conducted by Neko-chan and Han Baise. The company operated on a strategy known internally as "The Squeeze."
First, they would search for remote villages in rural areas. Typically, these villages depended almost entirely on agriculture for income. Sheng Logistics would approach them, offering assistance in transporting their goods to the city markets.
They would then establish an exclusive contract with the isolated village, just as they had done with Mianxi Village. Once the contract was signed, they would implement a calculated three-stage takeover.
